  1. There have been native grass and wildflower seed mixes in ODOTs spec for 10+ years, but rarely used. I’m glad the pollinatior sites are happening and mowing slightly reduced…but it’s not to the point of “let is all grow” yet.
  2. There is a lot of discussion about why it is so expensive to build in the US and NEPA is one of those reasons identified
  3. Interesting byproduct of the Ireland tax sheltering…
  4. Letting the Lake Ave folks ruin a good thing once again 😪
  5. I’m going to be kind and reserve judgement lol. I think they may actually help, even if I wanted more.
  6. Here that pesky data. “…researchers in the past two years have released six working papers on the impact of new market-rate development on neighborhood rents. Five find that market-rate housing makes nearby housing more affordable across the income distribution of rental units, and one finds mixed results.” https://www.lewis.ucla.edu/research/market-rate-development-impacts/
  7. I was really disgusted by Zone’s comments tbh. The architect said they had met with the block club and near west design review…but how dare the “out of state developer” not kiss Jenny Spencer’s ring.
  8. Thank you @Mov2Ohio! Yeah that’s exactly what they’re doing. Looks like they want to establish a more gradual slope. Benches (flat areas) and toes (notches at the bottom) help prevent slope failures from occurring. On the bottom part of the drawing you can see where they will be driving anchors into bedrock to secure the new bulkhead. Interesting that the new bulkhead will be in the River compared to the current bank location.
  9. I didn’t see anyone post them, but the nearly complete construction drawings are here 🙂: https://www.portofcleveland.com/rfp-irishtown-bend-owners-representative-construction-management-and-inspection-service/ Much less mechanical stabilization than I expected; they cutting and benching the slope, then anchoring in the new sea wall.
  10. I would be worried about the dirt runoff into the river! That’s a SWPPP nightmare. They are both state and federally listed endangered species.
  11. There is (was?) one on Bridge near St Patrick’s too. The interior was empty looking, I never understood the idea 😂
  12. Story after story confirming what terrible people they are.
  13. There really is just not enough money unfortunately. That would cost as much, or more, than the project itself.
  14. Apologies for the artistic quality (I’m an engineer for a reason) but this intersection makes me irrationally angry. Good as time as ever to fix it.
  15. Maybe that’ll keep the speeds reasonable 😛
  16. 490 rehab estimated spring of 2024 right now 🙂
  17. The guy was apprehended quickly. Serious question, what else can the police do? The problem is the prevalence of guns in this city. Unless that changes shootings are going to continue to happen 🤷🏻‍♂️

Exactly. They’re basically blackmailing members into a vote, which is just 😪. Council needs to actually function and have debate, not penalize citizens of a certain ward because they’re council person disagrees with the majority. He may not be Kelly’s friend, but he’s going along with this undemocratic shenanigan.
  19. Kind of sounds like a ceremonial name change that no one will really notice to me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Civil service protections exist for a reason, but there are ways to handle problem employees. From formal discipline to making them a highly paid paperclip counter.
  21. When I look at the new hospital tower I still see a coffin ⚰️ lol

So it’s been the City’s transportation hub for 140 years? We went thru all of this when PS was being redesigned. Running the busses around the square would add time, and more importantly significant costs, to an agency that really can’t afford any.

Y’all are grasping at straws here…it was a form he filled out voluntarily. Do you really think he was trying to mislead people into believing he had no debts or other sources of income other than RTA? If you want to make a call on his judgment for incorrectly filling it out, then sure. But saying it’s “shady” is a bit much.
  24. Wow I agree with their comments 🤯
