My guess is that if you take into account the pre-advertising meeting essentially happening in a month, contractors will need time (multiple months) to prepare their bid package. Then review the packages select a winning team and start the work… All that time adds up.

I admit, I’m curious how the plan has changed/evolved or stayed the same since the master plan & PAL scenario was unveiled (years ago at this point). I’m hoping it’s splashy, and that Bibb wouldn’t attend if it was just ho-hum…

I’ll go ahead and post the article because I have a few thoughts, but maybe they are more about news writ large. I’m glad the Scene exists, because it does provide a critical lens that some other new agencies lack in town. But I don’t understand how you can write an article like this based on one persons email. They didn’t get any quotes from the museum, or maybe more importantly the museum board, for the article. There also doesn’t seem to be any independent verification of any of the allegations (unless they did but didn’t tell us so). All that said, I tend to believe the allegations, which is sad because it is an amazing institution. But I shouldn’t have to choose to believe or not, there should be some facts behind it. As of September there was still $15 million needed. I wonder if they are planning to move forward with what they have secured, or perhaps the trail portion of the funds have an expiration date. So they don’t want to wait for an unknown period of time. It would be nice for someone from OCI, the Metroparks or McKormack to explain more clearly. The Netherlands, the most bike friendly county in the world, would like to have a word with you. At a signalized intersection, right turns on red are often a big safety problem for pedestrians. And sometimes left turns too. Whatever intersection style needs to be carefully selected with a thoughtout design. There is no one size fits all approach with either.

Nothing groundbreaking here. It’s the not flashy type of stuff that is difficult, but could actually make a difference.

Is there anything about these houses that would make them important to save? I know it’s always tough to see to old structures torn down, but we’re getting six(?) new homes in return.

If this is on Clinton, I know who you’re talking about as my neighbors and I have discussed it. As I understand it, he leaves every day during the day, then comes back at night to sleep in his car. He’s homeless if that wasn’t clear. The second car (stationary one) recently disappeared…I assume it was towed.

Can they issue a press release that sounds like it came from a normal person? Also, yes, empower Amtrak but slashing their funding. That’s usually how its done.
