Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I’m sure there is a number out there somewhere, but my guess is it would be a net loss if you considered loss of fares vs paying a worker to be there ~19 hours a day.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
I understand the sentiment, but I wouldn’t say Hopkins has any of the things you’ve listed. I am not pushing for the City to build the Taj Mahal of airports...but at the same time I think it’s okay to ask for an airport that the City and region’s residents are proud to have. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe all of the building costs would come from the grants, bonds, the airlines, landing fees and maybe passenger fees.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
I know it’s been said before...but I think turning Hopkins over to the Port of Cleveland to run would be the best thing to do. Like @YABO713 said...still government owned, but run by a board of directors appointed by the city and county. I’m hoping the master plan mothballs existing everything and completely rebuilds the airport. After being in some of the newer airports in the US...it would be a tremendous shame to try and reuse anything here.

Cleveland Metro: New FBI HQ
Apparently W made a big push to “privatize” as many things as he could and the GSA owning buildings was one of them. It does sound like this developer is getting WAAAAY more than they should be. But I don’t understand why they don’t try and buy out the building...it would have to be cheaper and I’m sure they owner doesn’t want to try and repurpose this thing now.

Is The American Moderate Dying?
I think it can be boiled down to partisan primaries, gerrymandering and campaign finance. Between the advent of computers being able to cut voting districts down to the block and citizens united in 2010, partisanship has sharply accelerated. Then, in primaries candidates are incentivized to move farther and farther to the edge of the ideological spectrum in order to attract voters from their “base.”

I understand that some folks (elderly, etc) have fixed incomes, but I always thought that rooting for your neighborhood to stay blighted was...weird.

Brecksville: Sherwin-Williams Research & Development Center
Very disappointing. Shows to me the execs either don’t understand how site location relates to “keeping and attracting talent” or the CEO was full of it.

I actually get their point, but if you eliminate the on street parking there you might be able to make it work. It’s kind of pointless on that stretch (imo) anyway.

Not sure if this was ever confirmed, but the former Ciao Bistro/Cha Pizza is some sort of office space now. You can see library style computer cubicles through the window when you drive by. ☹️- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Yeah...sounds kinda sketchy to me. But I hope for a quick rebound.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
You may be right, but I hope the City begins a traffic study ASAP. Things might get a little nuts down there when you have 1,000 cars coming and going at the same time. I suppose there is ingress/egress to the north, south and west but they are all sh*tty two lane roads.- Cleveland City Council
Definitely on board with these two. Not a fan of term limits...I think they affect system stability and institutional knowledge. Plus, see the Ohio Statehouse...the reps just end up gaming the system to stay in office as long as they want anyway. My problem is that Council (and the local Democratic Party) will outcast and blackball you if you try and primary a sitting member. That’s what is really stifling any competition and choice for constituents, and let’s the incumbents sit there as long as they please.- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info

Shouldn’t affect the innerbelt much, no. A realignment of S Marginal was included in the work, so they’d have to revise that but I believe that would be it.- Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements

In an odd, but not unusual agreement, the City of Cleveland Division of Water Pollution Control owns and maintains the sewers within the city.- The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
From the Cleveland Memory project: ”Cleveland Sixth City"--written on the front of the card. During thise period in Cleveland's History, Ca. 1912, many postcards and advertisements proclaimed her the Sixth City. By 1920 Cleveland reached it's peak as the Fifth City.” https://clevelandmemory.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/postcards/id/1798- Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
It does not appear so, no. There will be a minor realignment of their driveway and sidewalk on the Fulton side but that’s it.- Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
doesn’t really look like they will be doing much at all except connecting the sidewalk on Fulton all the way around. - Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
