Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Maybe in this location (I haven’t seen it) but not the others. They are definitely cameras.

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
I noticed them for the first time yesterday too at E12th and Superior. I was trying to figure out if they were for the signals (vehicle detection) or other (public safety) but couldn’t really tell.

Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
I wonder if the League of Women Voters will still put the citizen issue on the ballot as well...sounds like they’re undecided right now. The fact that if the legislature can’t come to an “agreement” it can pass a partisan map for four years is worrisome to me. Also an independent panel would be so much more prefereable.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
If that were true, then why did folks on the right get so upset by Black athletes kneeling during the national anthem. Answer: they felt that act of kneeling represented more than it actually did.

Accents
Wow I never knew that but you’re right (according to The NY Times via the Carnegie Corporation). I always said it that way because Tom Hamilton did ? www.nytimes.com/2004/06/20/nyregion/fyi-019240.html

Accents
...I’m from Cleveland and I say them exactly the same

Accents
Accents are so fascinating to me. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in Columbus with the bland “midland,” then moved to Cleveland around age 14...but I can hear myself speaking with a Cleveland accent where most people I ask can’t. Mine isn’t the strongest, but I definitely have it.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
The way the law is currently set up, it would be almost politically impossible for Cleveland to do so. So I’m not sure that’s a fair characterization.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe “off-duty work” is regulated and controlled by whatever department you work for. So CPD receives the requests for off duty work, posts them and officers can sign up for them that way. That being said, the officers are still representing the Department as an LEO even if they aren’t being paid by it.

The preferred diameter is 130 feet, but that can be shrunk if an engineering study deems it acceptable.

Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Projects & News
Properly designed roundabouts are more efficient, safer and extremely intuitive to drive. I really don’t understand why there is so much opposition to them, besides it being different. That being said, the W14th roundabout is NOT a good example of one well designed with two lanes. I’ve driven thru plenty in Indiana however that are great. Regarding the center island, the are specifically landscaped to restrict being able to see across. The reasons range from making it conspicuous to drivers that they are approaching a roundabout, requiring driver focus to be to the left, reducing headlight glare and discouraging pedestrians traffic thru the center island. “...but Cleveland's biggest enemy sometimes tends to be itself.” Unfortunately I think this is a bit of an understatement.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Bummerrrrrr. The square was fully reopened to traffic when I walked by so I wasn't sure. It's amazing no one has been seriously injured since they aren't up ?

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
To my surprise today I noticed the portable concrete barriers were removed from public square (and placed in the middle of superior to the east). Anyone know if this is a longer term thing? Or was this only for the car even on public square.

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
Is Canton (mentioned above) the only place in Ohio this has been enacted? Sure got a lot of buzz for nothing to actually happen. Sorry for the resurrection, Pappy Van Winkle made me think of it :p

Cleveland: Hotel Development
That hotel was kind of a mess. Remember when there was an elevator accident that injured a UFC fighter? Hopefully those were fixed...

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
I have no idea what kind of trees they are, but I was out yesterday and was wondering if it was some sort of a disease. You would've thought it was fall outside there were so many leaves on the ground.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
The Plain Dealer article said the East Bank redevelopment had a similar agreement. If this is the first request in 10 years I don't think we should be too worried.

Red-Light Cameras
I just don't understand where this argument is going. A uniform speed needs to be established and enforced in order to have the safest operation of the road. I don't think you can argue that. Then logically you need to enforce said speed limits. Individual dangerous can be cited under a different statute (reckless op, disregard of safety, etc). But speed limits are still there for a safety reason. *Edited for clarity
