  1. I'm not sure if this was mentioned in the lakefront thread, but Dick Pace said that he has one tenant relocating from another location Downtown, and is actively recruiting companies from out of state. He has one HQ that is close to being secured...but I can't remember if that is the company already in downtown or not.
  2. Clearly lines were atrocious for the Rapid...but I do think things would've been much worse if everyone would've driven instead. With the number of streets that were closed, parking would've been virtually impossible. I still don't blame officials for telling people to take RTA. Wasn't going to be a breeze either way. I'm just hoping that since this exposed the systems inadequacies people will finally put up a fight.
  3. "Even if the payoff (to vendors) was a nickel on the dollar, I don't know where they'd get the nickel," Yost said. Wow, that's an incredible statement.
  4. I love Twitter sometimes! I asked if the TSA checked baggage scanners sitting out in the ticketing area would be hidden at the end of the renovations (because the renderings don't show them but no one ever mentions them). Here is the response: "that's not part of this project, but a project is just starting that will get rid of them. Should be complete next year."
  5. Well, it's all coming together now. That's my parking garage haha. All I happened to see were steel plates on the ground and people brooming up a bunch of debris.

There was a nice discussion of this issue on The Sound of Ideas yesterday. One of the things I personally found interesting was that job losses weren't regarded as a big effect of minimum wage hike. But they did say a 10% increase in pay only led to a 2% increase in compensation. This was attributed to less hours or elimination of other ancillary benefits (free meals, discount merchandise, ect). Not many people seem to be in favor of the Cleveland proposal. One of the biggest reasons is that the rise would not be phased in as it has been practically everywhere else. I didn't realize that.
  7. That sounds plausible. I saw her at the Cleveland Flea on Saturday. Thanks! Edit: it's annoying regardless when roads are closed without notice however
  8. Maybe it was something else...but there was filming going on last night on Prospect (which was closed) between Huron and E14th. The crews were still out on the shoulder this morning.
  9. The RNC is affecting a large area of work. Basically all interstate construction in Northeast Ohio will be shut down (i.e. all the counties surrounding Cuyahoga as well).
  10. Don't forget Strip Clubs.
  11. I'm also curious how many cars will be driving through Public Square. People still can't seem to comprehend Euclid Ave...
  12. You can reach him at [email protected] I saw that on an earlier page in this thread :)

Yeah no way this is a good idea. I realize they are legally obligated to bring this up at Council though. I totally agree with surfohio[/member]. Cleveland has one of, if not the lowest cost of livings in the country. How are people choosing $15? It just seems so arbitrary.
  14. I mentioned this earlier, but I was told it would be operated by the same owners as TownHall.
  15. I don't think Reserve Square helps the rep either.

How much money are we talking here? The $1 million that was originally proposed in Kasich's budget?

The new site does look really nice. Now hopefully they can fix the disaster of a site the City has in general.
  18. This morning the Wild Eagle blade sign was removed, and (what looks like) a temporary ground LED sign replaced it. Odd.
  19. I've been told the Cafe/Eatery/Brewpup will be operated by the same folks as TownHall. If it's true I have high hopes.
  20. I will concede that I find the W14th roundabout to be the most poorly designed I've ever driven through. Even after the restriping which improved it a bit.
  21. People have some odd irrational fear of roundabouts. It's like anything else they don't understand, so they hate it.
  22. Yeah, I think it might be related to the recently adopted Cleveland Tree Plan. http://www.cleveland.com/architecture/index.ssf/2016/03/planning_commission_approves_a.html
  23. Here is an excerpt from last year about the smart grid lights the city is installing: "the fixture's "adaptive" smart photocell technology to gather other information, such as: - Measure snow fall per hour on any street. - Detect the number of people walking in a neighborhood or vehicles passing through. - Detect smoke or other pollutants on a street. - Hear and report the sound of gunfire" http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2015/07/city_of_cleveland_moving_towar.html
  24. Fair enough, I have absolutely no idea what ROI either type of advertising would bring.
