Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
Some people say this will create tens of thousands of jobs. Some people say this is the best thing ever for the region. What were these questions ðŸ˜

Airline Industry News and Discussion
This is maybe the first time something crappy today wasn’t directly Reagan’s fault lol.

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
The problem is all the proposed money that the City of Cleveland committed to the lakefront stadium was based on admission taxes and the like that won’t exist without the team there. (If I’m understanding you correctly)

Cleveland City Council
I think that’s why they split up downtown in Wards 5 & 8; in order to get the population numbers needed to justify another east side ward. Are you saying Polensek is retiring?

Cleveland City Council
I would love to see an overlay of official Cleveland neighborhoods to the proposed wards. Downtown seems like the most egregiously chopped up.

Cleveland: Ohio City: INTRO (Market Square / Harbor Bay Development)
This feels like a joke someone on UO would’ve written

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Heard the same about the Canton operation from someone who worked there. When he tried to retire the SSA informed him no taxes had been paid for his entire employment period. Almost certain he’s not an isolated case. Surprised nothing has happened yet.

Brecksville: Valor Acres Development
I thought it was going to be an office building; that Independence and DiGeronimo were moving into.

Cleveland: Mayor Justin Bibb
replying to this from the Random Development Thread. I agree that the quality of civic leadership at the top is increasing (thankfully). I’m still concerned about shenanigans happening over at City Hall though. MOCAP has seen a mass exodus of good employees. It’s enough where I’m considering writing a whistleblower-esque email to Kerry McCormack about it.

I think it is dead. The campaign against it was very loud.

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
I cannot believe they’ve dragged out the new courthouse this long…

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
Or is it more of a pressure campaign trying to get local business leaders to help push elected and the public on the move?

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
I’m going to add my 2¢ here, and answer earnestly as I think you asked the question. feels like a bit of a chicken and the egg problem here. But I think the hope of incremental development is the goal. Starting with housing and people and hope that the area can grow and thrive. It does benefit from being close to downtown, Ohio City, Tremont and steelyard.

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
Edit: you might have meant this Brook Park's rural character changed dramatically when WILLIAM R. HOPKINS, Cleveland city manager, selected it as the site of Hopkins Airport (1925, later CLEVELAND HOPKINS INTL. AIRPORT). Legal disagreements over annexation of the airport ended in 1947, when Cleveland paid Brook Park $85,000 to become the legal owner of more than 1,000 acres, including the airport. https://case.edu/ech/articles/b/brook-park#:~:text=and the EAST OHIO GAS,to the Berea School District.

Another article today in Bloomberg. Not a lot of good press for Jimmy. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2024-10-06/nfl-cleveland-browns-join-chicago-nashville-in-domed-stadium-quest?cmpid=BBD101324_CITYLAB&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&utm_term=241013&utm_campaign=citylabdaily

Cleveland: Retail News
This makes sense to me. The vast majority of businesses are small businesses. And the (slight) majority of employment is by small businesses. If it’s hard to get them grants and loans, should we really blame the business owners themselves? That sounds like a permitting/process problem. When you travel to your favorite, vibrant city, are you looking around and thinking how lovely it is to see all these chain stores? Or is the array of unique and locally owned shops that charm you?

Cleveland: Hotels, Conventions, and Tourism News & Info
I’m not sure what the odds of it happening are, but I will continue to believe that the best future for Tower City is to reroute Cleveland’s Amtrak station to CUT and redevelop Tower City into something akin to Denver Union Station.
