  1. There has been infill with cornices. Look at the large towne properties 15th and Elm Project for instance. Those who choose to build traditional (aka copy and paste italianate so to speak) include cornices (you can see a good number of those on elm st infill). The more modern infill usually go for a more abstract feel and don't include cornices. The way I look at it is that every infill opportunity showcases 21st Century Modern Inspired Italianate. I want people in 2100, and look back at some of the infill and realize the different phases that OTR went through in it's architecture.
  2. Reminds me of Chicago
  3. There's plenty of buildings that don't feature cornices in OTR....
  4. I really like that rendering. That's what I hope the future of infill will be for OTR. Modern, but not TOO modern. A building that blends into the fabric, but not to the point where it sticks out like a sore thumb because the developer wanted to go all Neo-Italiantate Future with a splash of Blade Runner. The real future of infill is exciting though. We could essentially build with 3d printers now, and it's so cheaper with that method. The more we perfect the technology, the more detailed developers can get. Theoretically, in the next 50 years, you could build incredibly detailed archeciture that's on the level of 19th century american architecture for very little cost. We might be entering an age very soon, thanks to 3d printers, where we can finally see developers build incredibly detailed, and beautiful buildings again.
  5. A few things of note.... Jose Garcia Race St Project (Official Rendering): Not sure what street this is, but Renovations are beginning on the building: East 12th Street Building Renovation into Apartments: https://www.instagram.com/p/BGFeHuXGgC9/?taken-at=226520915&hl=en Not sure where this is, or what the nature of there rehab:
  6. I'm not saying it's going to happen in the next 10 years from now. I don't know if it will happen period. All I know that OTR is soon becoming the most expensive zipcode in Cincinnati. Yes, there's still alot of poverty. Yes, there's still alot of crime. But at the same instance if you check zillow you are continously seeing 500-700k single family homes pop on the market, and being sold out within minutes. All I'm saying if OTR continues to sustain the success it's currently witnessing, and you continue to see wealthy people and families move to OTR, you WILL see luxery retailors present in OTR. Especially if tourism ever becomes a big thing in OTR as well. You guys should be more embracing of Luxery retailors. To me, personally, that's a sign that the neighborhood has finally "made" it.

I could honestly see a Stadium being built in Mason or West Chester...and what's sad is that I think the attendace will soar even more so. You have SOOOO many youth soccer leagues, and obssessed soccer suburban parents in that area. Build it close enough to these neighborhoods, and I think you will see incredibly well off attendace. That's why, I think even as good as the attendance is currently, you still have hoards of people who won't want to trek downtown because of how "scary" it is.
  8. New Urban Winery + Event Space coming to OTR. http://www.skeletonroot.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/skeletonroot/?hl=en Located at 38 West Mickmicken Ave in OTR. Will open, "Early Summer". Also in other news, "Original Thoughts Required: OTR" has closed down there shop on Main St. As much as I like these small locally owned shops, I'm also looking for shops with real staying power. My dream is for Vine St to be the restaurant corridor, and Main St to be future homes for retail such as, Prada, Tommy Hilfinger, Coach, Versaci, Micheal Khors, Rolex, etc. That's what will bring permentant tourism downtown and to OTR, if you create a mega retail lineup of the best fashion has to offer. We have none of that downtown. Maybe Saks, that's all.
  9. So I don't know if this is the right place for this, so apologize in advance if not, but I have a friend that lives in LA and is an agent for quite a few high level actors in Hollywood. He used to live in Cincinnati himself, and we were childhood friends until he got his own career started and moved to LA. Anyways, he told me that a script came across his desk that was to be filmed in Cincinnati, and most of the shots were to be exclusively done in OTR. Apperantly they were using OTR and Cincinnati in general for multiple locations (Brooklyn, Detroit, Chicago, and apparently Montreal). Not really sure what the main concept of the film is, but they are going to use Cincinnati and OTR to shoot those 4 cities on location here in Cincinnati. Apparently there's some high level talent attached to the film as well. From what he told me it's still in the early stages, but he's told me Cincinnati and OTR has gotten alot of interest lately in general since it can be a cheap location filler for many cities and time periods. So we'll see, but just thought that was interesting!
  10. I feel like the biggest smoking gun is the fact you have an out of town developer (I believe the pitsburgh developer?) who wants to purchase the dennison and rehab it. I feel like if you present that notion to the HCB then I don't understand why the Joseph's should have any iota of a right to demolish it. If the building is in stable condition, and have a developer ready and willing to bring it up to standards and do something with the building, then why the heck are we even having this debate in the very first place of whether the Dennison should be demolished.
  11. It has started.... Anyone can give play by play updates? Possible live stream/periscope on whats going on?
  12. Just looked through the packet. I swear that Terry Boling project is the nicest looking infill I've seen in OTR yet. Really hope he becomes a major player for the rest of the infill gaps in OTR. Seriously, what he's doing on Race St looks absolutely amazing.
  13. There is no, "other" game board bar in OTR. Nor in Cincinnati really, this is pretty much the first full fledged dedicated game board parlor that I've come across here in Cincinnati/NKY
  14. I can't wait till those Sycamore lots are filled. Could easily add tons of new restaurants and businesses, as well as apartments and lofts above (assuming the developers choose for high density). That, and closing the huge lot crater between OTR and Pendelton, it will definitely "blend" things in more nicely. Still not sure how long off we are for that? I know the lots are owned by that attorney guy, but I can't see how he would want to hold on to those lots with 3cdc opening up an underground garage with ziegler park, and the other parking garage that's also located on sycamore street. With those in the "know", has there been any talks about the development of these lots on sycamore?
  15. The architecture in this city is just insane. Crazy how when people think of architectural gems in regards to Midwest cities you'll always get the likes of Detroit, and Chicago, but never Cincinnati. Really wish the likes of Anthoney Bourdaine/Andrew Zimmerman would take the time and highlight the beauty of this city. No one really has, no one really cares about Cincinnati (outside of Cincinnatians largely)
  16. Correct! That's the one. There's even reports and pictures of the horses and they are skinny as hell. Again, the city is really good at giving traffic tickets and getting your car towed, but having a huge farm like this, with junk everywhere, and horses that are treated poorly, and not even one single citation? That's seriously messed up.
  17. Looking on google maps, alot of the west end is intact, except below Findley Street. Everything above findley street is pretty good. Just need alot of rehabbing on the old homes. Below Findley street just has so many open grassy lots.
  18. Question. So I've been looking at the Old West End on google maps, and noticed a few things. 1. Why is that shady farm with all those horses allowed? I don't know if you need special permits, and if that person has them, but that area is filled with junk cars/scrap yard, and a farm filled with horses. I feel like that's violating some health codes, especially in an urban environment. 2. I noticed the old west end has alot of historic housing stock. My question is, are there enough buildings that are multi purposed (with ground floor retail), into where we can make a, "mini otr" of sorts with bars and restaurants, and sort of connect the entertainment options of the north otr and connect it to the old west end?
  19. Not sure if 3CDC owns this building, but Happy Belly on Vine will be closing there doors on May 28th. They owner said they wanted to change ventures, and spend more time with family as reasoning. As sad as it's to see Vine lose a business, I hope this will allow a new resturaunt tenant to come in that also serves beyond just lunch, but also dinner, and with a liquor license. It was a cute place, with nice healthy food, but the place was hardly ever packed and always closed in the early afternoons. That place could host a much larger "player" in the "OTR restaurant row" on Vine.
  20. Wasn't there talks of 3CDC wanting to purchase that building? I hope that stills the case. That could easily be turned into a multi million luxery condo project, especially being right on the street car line.
  21. Whats up with the 1B office tower plan? I feel like that's taken an extraordinary long time to get off the ground for whatever reason. You would think there would be more demand, no? Also I'm not sure why we haven't progressed further with the second 1a restaurant? That also seems to be developing slowly.
  22. Do the Taste of Belgium owners own that entire building? It seems pretty large from google maps. I wonder if the owners will ever consider opening up a second concept restaurant within that same building.
  23. Does anyone know the latest about that restaurant that was proposed in the Union Hall space? Was supposed to have an enterance off republic street, and was supposed to have a dining space in the old larger tunnels.
  24. The Kruckemeyer building is selling units fast! Apperantly only 3 are available. Speaking of this building though, I noticed the ground floor has not been discussed. Does anyone know if the owner will pursue and try to lease the ground floor of the building for a potential retail spot?
