  1. Random question...Are there height restrictions for buildings in OTR? So, say if 3CDC or another outside developer wanted to build a 30 story Condo tower/hotel in OTR, would they even be allowed to build it at that height?
  2. Really cool vibe that street is giving. Is much of the distillery district in that area have that same kinda historic industrial feel of sorts that the image above is showing?
  3. OTR Still House: https://www.facebook.com/otrstillhouse?pnref=lhc Semi unnanounced/announced project. Apparently going to be an event center/bar? Takes place in a old warehouse center that is being remodeled to suit an event stage. Seems to be located near Findlay Market area...some development pics on the fb page.
  4. Microgrocery opening soon near Findlay Market-June http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2015/05/18/micro-grocery-opening-soon-near-findlay-market.html

  6. Really random thought..But I read about Club Clau during the early 2000's of OTR, and how apparently it was rated one of the best clubs in all of the world beating out high profile clubs from Bejing to NYC. I know there were high profile celebrities that came there from Snoop Dog, to Justin Timberlake, and how apperantly the line stretched miles long and it was really hard to get in. You either had to have connections. Be incredibly good looking. Or had alot of money. Apperantly Club Clau shut down, not because of a lack of revenue (from what I read it did really well), but rather the owners wanted to move on to different projects and endeavors. My question is, with OTR becoming this young driven proffesional neighborhood, with quite a few wealthy residents, do you think a high profile club (something you would see in NYC or Miami) is something that should be on the radar for OTR?
  7. Question for you guys, when do you think the Highway Caps will be dealt with? I know there were talks early last year about a design competition, but I don't know whats the latest with that.
  8. Not till spring 2017...does it really take that long to build a 7 story hotel? And a grocery store sounds real nice. It's crazy to think that Cincinnati might actually become a real city where people actually work and live, and not something that just people from Mason visit to see a Bengals game or a Reds game
  9. Still it's kind of a scary concept. Sure, not really to much of a concern for us, since we'll probably be munched up by maggots in the grave by that point..but still for our kids, kids. For their kids and so on...I mean obviously technology will advance, and will allow for unique concepts in the urban development space..But still to see the population continue to grow exponentially, and you think, okay New York City 2150...Again, not an issue for us, right who cares? But it's essentially my grandchilds lifetime (Im a millennial). Sure we can become smarter with how we develop the land..but you got to ask is that enough? It's just a scary concept that you continue to build and build and build, and there becomes a point where you just simply run out of room. And sure you can grow taller and taller, or grow a new city like they did with battery park, or even potentially grow a city underground. But there comes a point that makes me ask..when is enough is enough? When do you wave the white flag and say no more...I just guess I'm not fond of how there could be a potentially a future generation of our blood children who don't know what a park looks like, or don't know what daylight will look like. I know, extreme, but there's just something about this constant attitude of grow, grow, grow, that it makes you wonder when enough becomes enough...and when the government has to step in and impose regulations on population control.
  10. I guess there's always the option of building a city below ground as well? I know there's a park in development in NYC thats in an old abandoned subway station.
  11. I'm talking mega cities that are the size of NYC. I know there's always demolition, but it just seems with the population continuing to grow (as well as new businesses) that there will be a continuing need for more office towers, hotels, and apartments and condo's. But my question becomes, say 50 years from now (which I'll be in my late 60's) when much of the open land is occupied, but there's still a need to grow and develop, where do these buildings go? I know in Dues Ex (a video game), one concept was that you have a city build on top of a city. So essientially this: http://media.moddb.com/images/games/1/11/10007/dx3_shanghai.1.jpg My question, how real of a problem is this? Lack of new land to build and grow, and have there been any discussions on what potential solutions for this might entail?
  12. Sorry for the potentially stupid question...but are the overhead wires already installed upon most of the tracks? I know some were recently installed on the over the rhine tracks by music hall referring to this pic: http://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/streetcar/assets/File/IMG_1586.jpg But how many of the overhead wires have already been installed, and how many still need to be installed?
  13. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/money/2015/05/08/banks-downtown-news/26981117/ -Hotel Announcement for The Banks will come within next week -Negotiations are taking place with a Grocery Store to land at the Banks. -A retail tenant has also been identified for an undeveloped outlot at The Banks -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/your-watchdog/2015/05/08/next-uss-cincinnati-memorial/26980551/ -USS Cincinnati Memorial Display is still coming, but has been delayed because of the developments at The Banks, still trying to find perfect and right location on the riverfront
  14. Majority are vacant spots being filled in.
  15. I'm pretty much right there with you. People are so up in arms typically when a new construction project doesn't embody the look of "classic" otr. I think that's bs, and that there is ultimately nothing sexier than having this mix of classic old architecture, but also this new modern architecture that shows where we have been, and where we are going.
  16. How much does it cost to lease a space for say a small restaurant/cafe space in OTR anyway? I'm talking in the Gateway quarter region...Is it still relatively low compared to other places, or has it gone significantly up?
  17. If were still on the topic of local chains...what do you guys think the over/under is for; -Skyline Chili -Buskin's Cookie Bakery Shop -Larosas To open up in OTR...
  18. I think the most expensive condo I saw listed was for 750,000. It ain't cheap living in OTR.
  19. So what does this mean for OTR and parking in laymen terms...
  20. OTR doesn't need any national chains. Would a starbucks or chipotle be nice? Sure, there were more then a few occasions where I could you a pick me up from Star Bucks. But all national chains will do will distract consumers from all the local eateries/and coffee shops already established in OTR, and create unfair and unnecessary competition. It's clear with The Brandery, Cintrifuse, and Cincy Tech all being located together in OTR, as well as all these smaller local eateries and bars that what 3CDC is trying to do is create an organic entertainment and retail scene, and while a starbucks and a chipotle here and there might not be so bad, it could be a sign of further chains like Chilies, and McDonalds of the sorts to gain entrance as well. And before you know it what made OTR a unique hotspot to visit will be on the wayside.
  21. 4 New Retail locations are coming to OTR in the next month or so: http://www.cincinnati.com/story/money/2015/05/05/four-new-stores-opening-otr/26952667/ • Elm & Iron, a Columbus-based home decor and furniture store opening early next week. • Idlewild Woman, a clothing and home store catered to women opening on May 16. • Continuum, a home decor, gifts and women's clothing store opening in the next couple months. •Kit & Ace, A Vancouver, British Columbia-based luxury clothing retailer This is not to mention that there is still bars and resturaunts coming as well in the form of; •Low Spark (Bar) •16 Bit Arcade (Bar) •ZBGB Gourmet Burger (Bar + Restaurant) •Transept (Bar + Light Restaurant) •Che! (Bar + Restaurant And that's just what we know about so far...It's a bit crazy to think how much retail and restaurants have grown in just the past 2 years, and makes you just wonder what's ahead in terms of growth... Also, interesting tidbit in that article, apparently both Starbucks and Chipotle had contacted 3CDC about building locations in OTR, but 3CDC said no because they want local, and smaller chains to be a part of OTR fabric, not big American chain places.
  22. When I was by there Friday they were removing two set of windows and adding garage doors. Looked like several more weeks of work on the inside before they could open. So I'm guessing a safe bet should be by Memorial Day/Early June? And will the garage doors be able to flip open during warmer months like they do in the other locations?
  23. I think more good would be to take some personal photos, print them off, and stop by the 3CDC office and show them in person. Just saying. The likelihood of them reading this board is pretty slim.
  24. Why were they initially bricked up? That seems sort of strange...
  25. What windows are exactly blocked? Is it in the front of music hall? Also does anyone know if the statue is still part of the plans for the revitalized Music Hall plans..like in the pic below, granted it's from plans back in 2011 http://otrmatters.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/washington-park-3-12-11-color-view-3.jpg
