Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Western Reserve Land Conservancy buys Euclid Beach mobile home park to ensure public role in future of a key lakefront property Steven Litt - Cleveland.com - Dec. 5, 2021 "The Western Reserve Land Conservancy announced Sunday that it has purchased the 28.5-acre Euclid Beach Mobile Home Community overlooking Lake Erie to ensure a strong public role in planning the future of the property, and to avert the possibility of additional heavy private development on an already crowded section of lakefront. The $5.8 million purchase from a subsidiary of Dallas-based Moore Enterprises, could lead to the expansion and consolidation of fragmented Cleveland Metroparks units in the Euclid Creek Reservation that flank the mobile home park to the east and west. ... If they were all completely connected in the future, the mobile home park, the library property, and the Metroparks units would total 135.2 acres, or slightly less than the 146.7 acres of land at Edgewater Park on Cleveland’s West Side."

Cleveland: St. Clair-Superior (non-Asiatown): Development and News
Vision for new Hitchcock Women's Center edges closer to reality, even as major roadblocks remain Ronald Kisner - TheLand - Nov. 2, 2021 "A $23 million plan to update the Hitchcock Women’s Center in Cleveland’s Hough neighborhood is $7 million from becoming a game-changing reality. The center, located inside the former St. Mary’s Seminary on Ansel Road, would be — with renovation — the only facility in Cuyahoga County housing women and families with substance abuse issues. Despite showing its age and lack of many modern amenities, the 1929 building occupied by Hitchcock since 1992 continues to provide comprehensive services to women battling addiction but who also may be homeless or unemployed. ... At the moment, the financial ball is in the hands of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. County Councilwoman Yvonne Conwell, a strong advocate for the Hitchcock initiative, said the county does not want to contribute more funds than the city."

African-American Museum funding for renovation falls short, depends on volunteers for repairs Kevin Smith - Cleveland Business Journal - Nov. 2, 2021 "The African-American Museum in Cleveland is depending on volunteers to finish its current slate of renovations in the historic Treasure House building at 1765 Crawford Road. The museum had planned to raise $5 million for the renovations, which started in 2016, but Executive Director Frances Caldwell says they are far short of that goal and now depend on volunteers. The project is about 20% complete, and a projected end date hasn't been set. ... While the museum is looking at its second grant for $150,000 from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission to complete the renovations to reopen the museum, much more is needed before realizing the full $5 million project, which will transform the current parking lot into an atrium and add a small theatre to the back of the building, along with an elevator."
