*Cleveland.com Subscriber Exclusive* Cleveland Foundation’s move to Hough welcomed after decades of local fears over institutional land grabs Steven Litt - Nov. 1, 2020 "The motivation on the part of the foundation and MidTown Cleveland Inc., the nonprofit development corporation with which it is collaborating, is to raise the ante on architecture and urban design, but also to avoid negative spillover effects from a big investment. ... The foundation’s relocation is being warmly greeted in Hough in part because of its outreach and community engagement, but a dramatic shift in local politics is also a factor. Residents and neighborhood leaders said that elected officials including the late Councilwoman Fannie Lewis, who represented Hough for decades until her death in 2008, viewed outside institutions and developers with suspicion. Now, the mood has shifted." https://www.cleveland.com/news/2020/11/cleveland-foundations-move-to-hough-welcomed-after-decades-of-local-fears-over-institutional-land-grabs.html

Doan Brook Restoration and the Smith Family Gateway (Mon. 10-26-20) CWRU, CMA and NEORSD have done a tremendous job transforming this entire area. Everything in this whole project looks and feels like it is very well done. Its truly transformational when looking back at how poorly utilized this greenspace once was only a few years ago. Although this project isn't the biggest, the Gateway along with the Greenway make the whole Circle feels so much more complete and welcoming.

Cleveland: West Side Market News & Info
* Cleveland.com Subscriber Exclusive * Jackson administration’s plan to hire consultant to study needs of Cleveland’s West Side Market stalls Robert Higgs - Oct. 21, 2020 "The Jackson administration did not have an immediate comment on why it took nearly eight months to bring the legislation to City Council. The estimated cost is $137,000. Despite being the councilman for Ohio City, McCormack wasn’t briefed on the legislation prior to Tuesday’s meeting of council’s Development, Planning and Sustainability Committee. And he bristled at suggestions that the consultant’s review could take up to three years to complete. ... McCormack urged that management of the market be turned over to a nonprofit, an approach used by several other cities – Cincinnati, Columbus, Philadelphia among them – that have public markets. But Jackson’s chief of operations, Darnell Brown, said the administration believed it is in the city’s best interests to retain control." https://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/2020/10/jackson-administrations-plan-to-hire-consultant-to-study-needs-of-clevelands-west-side-market-stalls.html

View along Nationwide (Sat. 10-17-20) The new "River Road" situated between the future Confluence Village development and the new riverfront park and pedestrian bridge landing Now that most of the steel has been placed, you can get a better idea of the stadiums size and impact from a distance (I'm sure it will however give a different impression once the stealth fighter-esque exterior is completed). It seems a little lower than I anticipated, so I'm very glad the branding on the smokestack will be permanent.
