Regarding the veto over There are 34 Democrats in the House and 65 Republicans. It takes 3/5ths to override a veto. 60 votes. There aren't enough Democrats in the House defeat a veto override. But there may be 6 actual conservative Republicans that would support the veto.

There is a proper group of Republicans in the House that are not fans of this. I don't know if there are 60 to override a veto, though maybe some Dems could be bought to make it happen.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Gordon Park between the railway and the highway is pretty much the baseball fields and disused tennis courts ("bike polo courts"). There's nothing there for any uses beyond that and as mentioned above, as a City of Cleveland park, it's a poor experience overall. Moving 90 back is a massive long shot but regardless of its alignment or the plan KPJ wrote about, elimination of the E. 72 ramps/interchange should be part of the discussion. 72nd and MLK are far too close together for safe merging eastbound from E72nd and westbound from MLK. Truck traffic from the industrial uses on 72nd would be the major issue, I suppose, and not wanting to divert that to N Marginal or all the way around St. Clair to 55th? If the power plant land is to be developed, a bike/ped bridge over 72nd to Gordon would be attractive.

Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
Right but Cleveland has the right and responsibility to attract jobs from within the region, even if it is moving them in from Lodi and Aurora. The worst you might say for this is that it might cannibalize Steelyard retail a bit. I would prefer a site plan that was a bit more favorable to future TOD on the WFL but that's kind of pie in the sky thinking.

Another look at this data, taking the average home sales over the last 3 years and showing more granularity: Here is the change in sale prices for the 3 year period over the prior 3 years. Positive growth in all but 4 neighborhoods and overall growth of 21%

Richmond Heights: Belle Oaks (Richmond Town Square Redevelopment)
In her comments she stated everything north of the current Sears is in RH; south of this is SEL. If that's true it would mean the line is right around Hillary Lane west of this development. There was an earky-90s condo development south of Hillary Ln that is also in the district which means the line might jog south to encompass those units. OR, possible she meant that Sears is included and thus we can say everything north of the theater is in RH. Either all or the majority of phase 1 is in the RH district. I do not think this development is targeted at families with school age children. This is empty nest baby boomers, downsizers, etc, and younger professionals working along the i-271 corridor who do not want to buy a home but are not satisfied with the largely outdated apartment offerings on the east side. There will be new children in the district but there will also be new amenities and retail which one would hope will lift the value of the surrounding area. Who wants to live near a dead mall in a mediocre at best school district where their voucher status is in flux?

The idea that 1,000 jobs at SW down there would spur rail to the area is laughable; as you yourself mentioned, the same number of jobs were down there in the past and there was no impetus or spark to add transit, nor should there be - why use extremely scarce transit resources to support 2 sprawling R&D sites? (about 600 Lubrizol employees work across the street)? Look it's certainly better than to have the jobs out of county or state, but as far as reversing the trend of sprawl it is as bad an outcome as you could get for these 1000 jobs, without leaving the county. The VA should go back to nature. R&D needs to be secure and safe, yes, but it doesn't need to sprawl.

It will also possibly require on the order of 1,000 parking spaces. I'm relatively sure we were/are going to kind of hate what they proposed for Scranton peninsula. Sell employees on the flats with amazing views of downtown? Sure. Sell them the Forgotten Triangle? Whole 'nother story.

They are leasing space in Hudson Yards which received $1.3 billion from the state by having it "gerrymandered" into the same "economically troubled area" as Harlem. That is fair enough - I respect your information as sourced better than my quick scan of a couple articles on the internet. However could you clarify what you mean by "thousands in the next 5 years" ? Per KJP's writings there are 3300 currently and the HQ would consolidate "up to" 6,000 employees there. So is it fair to say that the top end in terms of downtown employee growth in the near term is 2,700? I had considered that it would be a 10-20 year period of time to achieve thst, vs the 5 that you've stated. This IS speculation. KJP's previous article states the following: SW currently has 3,300 employees in downtown Cleveland. There are 1,100 elsewhere in northeast Ohio that *could* be consolidated. And about 1,600 jobs would be added through corporate growth (speculative) or relocation from other states, particularly Valspar in Minneapolis. In 2016 per an article Valspar had 600 jobs in Minneapolis. A later article said "much of Valspar's administrative and headquarters jobs had been moved away since the merger closed." If we speculatively say that ALL of the 1,100 NEO jobs not currently downtown will move there, and the 400 or so R&D jobs in Minneapolis will move. That is 1500 jobs that will be planned to move on day 1. The top-end figure is 2,700 new jobs (6,000 per KJP minus 3,300 currently downtown) and again it certainly sounds like "corporate growth" is baked into that number which means that can only be expected to take place over the next several years. On day 1 this will be about a 1% increase in downtown employment (from its current number of about 95,000). Lawn portion of the Square to be shut down once again until Spring. Seems like suboptimal design to have a major portion of half the square totally off limits for what, 5 months of the year? This is correct. Look at the early pages of the CC thread and there is a ton of opposition to the riverfront proposal; a lot of it also had to do with anti-Forest City sentiment and the perception that they were jerking the city around and trying to use political clout to get their way. Yeah this is pretty silly. Rising rents are 1.) The result of increased demand, and 2.) Needed to justify continued new construction and renovations, which will eventually provide more choices and price points for downtown living.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
