  1. What would the theoretical capacity for number of turbines sited off NEO be? Could we place 1000 turbines in Lake Erie? Current generation of GE and Vesta turbines are 13.5 - 15 MW range. So we talking 13-15 GW layout for the North coast with tie-ins to the PJM grid at all the decommissioned coal plants. That's 40% of Biden's off shore goal.
  2. I'm a Shaker resident and sent my wholehearted support to Mayor Weiss for this project to go forward. Would love to see 2,000 - 3,000 units ultimately developed at the Chagrin & Warrensville Center intersection area. Got to justify eventually extending the Blue Line beyond its current terminus.
  3. That stretch of Buckeye could use a good streetscape plan along with the planned building renovations. Burying the utility lines along that stretch could open up a lot more sidewalk access for outdoor seating. I drive down this road about twice a week from Shaker. Has strong promise with Edwin's campus as a east end anchor and community resources like Providence House moving in mid way.
  4. Tesla doesn't break down their sales into months but instead by quarter. Would be interesting to know what effect electric vehicle adoption plays on these sales numbers in the next 2-3 years. Ohio EV sales are increasing 100%+ per year but from a low base. Ohio 2,091 (2017) 4,456 (2018) 113.10% YOY%+ 0.37% (2017 % Total auto sales) 0.74% (2018 % Total auto sales) See: https://evadoption.com/ev-market-share/ev-market-share-state/ Side note: The doctor's parking garage (Cornell #34) for UH in University Circle is now probably 5-8% Tesla for 1000 parking spaces. I made the switch to Tesla Model 3 in June and will never go back to fossil fuel transportation. With GM/LG Lordstown battery factory, Avon Lake Ford plans, and potential Rivian involvement in Brookpark/Walton Hills, will be interesting to see if our region develops a "build here " loyalty to the new models. Tesla Model 3 is about as "Made in America" for total chain of production as you can get in 2019.
  5. I feel that the best option would be to start to combine river and lakefront amenities with a true water transportation network like Chicago: https://shorelinesightseeing.com/about/maps-routes/ Cleveland docks should be: 1) Edgewater Park 2) Wendy Park 3) West Bank Flats 4) East Bank of the Flats 5) Merwins Wharf 6) New Pace development Dock or E9th Pier 7) East 55th St Marine & Pier 8) Gordon Park / MLK. My family would be able to spend a whole day out and about day tripping afte riding the Green Line in from Shaker Heights.
  6. Offshore windpower cost advantage comes from increasing the size of the turbines. Here is Siemens 10 MW turbines being installed in Europe without subsidy. Blade diameter is 193 m (~ 600 feet). That's almost 3x the power per turbine column than the LEEDCo planned 3.5 MW sizes. For context, installing 100 of these Siemens turbines would be about the same nameplate power capacity as the Perry Powerplant that our state government just tossed $150 million at today. https://cleantechnica.com/2019/04/15/siemens-gamesa-10-megawatt-turbine-set-for-worlds-first-zero-subsidy-offshore-wind-farm/
  7. Michael Schwartz's restaurant at the VAD is now open this weekend. Food and service is amazing. Cuisine is very Miami-like with light dishes of seafood and vegetables. I've been to his restaurants at the Raleigh hotel in Miami Beach and his branch of Filia in the Baha Mar resort in the Bahamas and this location has the same quality. I live in Shaker Hts and this is now our new warm weather fine dining place to complement our frequent trips to Fire.
  8. Banter is the only food option open so far in the Food Hall. Our family got dinner there Sunday night. Quality was as good as Gordon Square location. Rising Star counter is still under construction and looks like it has a few weeks of work to go. Per the guys at Banter, the next option to open will be the pasta location. Brassica to open in 2019. The space is still a shell.

Does anyone know if there are active Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programs in Northeast Ohio? The only search links I can find are from 2010 and dormant. I own a south facing, slate roofed house in Shaker Heights. I would like to replace the roof with Tesla slate-style solar shingles + 1 or 2 Powerwall batteries. PACE financing would smooth out the cost. Goal would be to install enough battery capacity to eventually charge 2 electric vehicles with >200 mile range batteries.
  10. I live in Shaker Heights along S. Woodland. I plan to use the OC to get to Tremont and back more quickly via S Woodland/Buckeye. Taking Kinsman to 490 can be slow going.
