  1. I find Dallas to be architecturally bland. In the DFW area, I much prefer Fort Worth visually. DART has potential but it still amazes me that it was only recently that they connected it to their airport, considering how massive the airport is and how much O/D traffic it has.
  2. Up until December of 2019, a small area near where Explorys was housed was used by the Cleveland Clinic Concert Band (it was a community band sponsored by the Clinic that played some community events around town). The room used was pretty dingy, and it was always recommended that the members of the group not use the bathrooms, because they were pretty nasty... the old Playhouse Supper Club had the only clean restrooms there outside of Explorys as I recall. I used to play solo piano at the supper club from time to time in the early 2000's.
  3. I went on Sunday - AJR was high energy, but Trombone Shorty was more my speed and he had a super talented group with him.
  4. I've connected in Miami on American recently, and they used to use the E145's, but recently they've dropped down to one flight (instead of multiple) and it's on a mainline aircraft. The last time I connected there was in January and it was on a 737 that left super early in the morning. It was still >90% full, even in the midst of Covid. But in the end, I think you're right, the ULCC's won't influence AA much on this route.
  5. I'm curious what, if anything, American Airlines will do to react to their entry in the market. Didn't Frontier operate this route too at one point?
  6. I was there back in January. Most things were still closed there (the Connie was, for example) but it was still really neat. The outdoor rooftop swimming pool is kept heated pretty well... that was a neat experience on a winter's day!
  7. To me, that makes sense since it is a vibrant downtown-ish area with plenty of restaurants and a start on some density. I'd love to take Laketran out there and catch a train to the airport when I have to take a trip.

In a primary of Mandel vs. J.D. Vance, who comes out on top? They both seem to lead towards populism and divisive politicking (though one more than the other).
  9. Doesn't Sherwin Williams have a real estate "arm?" Considering they own the Landmark Office Towers, I imagine they probably would have to, no? It makes sense to me that they would be thinking of more than just their headquarters buildings.
  10. Are there any plans to have any "bridges" over Frankfort or is there going to be structure over the current roadway?
  11. Since I started working from home, I haven't been out on the roads nearly as much. But I did notice different designs on the buses that were at Lakeland. It was a nice change... I'd love it if more than one bus had art on it. It draws attention to it, and I can't see how that could be anything but a positive for LakeTran!
  12. I feel like businesses that could be positively impacted by some of these proposals could also speak up at the state level. If the line that goes through Sandusky was built, Cedar Fair could use that kind of connectivity to bring people to Cedar Point without having to rent a car possibly. With the proximity to Hopkins and multiple trains per day, this could benefit Cleveland and Sandusky, for example. Just spitballing, but there are possibilities.
  13. I thought in looking at the numbered items on Family 2 that they would utilizing concourse D during construction (it read "1: Concourse D + Connector Tunnel Reactivation") so I took that as meaning that would be the first thing done just before deactivating and demolishing concourse B. It just seems to me that they may have skipped a step in prepping Concourse D for accommodating larger aircraft? I would assume that would be a somewhat costly endeavor though it wouldn't be necessary to be extravagant about it since it would be a temporary measure. I am particularly excited by the thought of the rental car facility being brought back on site as well. There's a lot to like, but it will be a long process.
  14. Perhaps this was covered upthread and I missed it, but is there a plan for the Landmark Towers when SHW moves to the new headquarters? That's a lot of square footage of space that will need new tenants or a new purpose.
  15. I always enjoy contrasting the architecture of Fort Worth vs. that of Dallas. Personally, I think Ft. Worth has more character, which is why if this new high rise gets build, hopefully it has some interesting elements instead of just being a big old piece of smooth glass.
  16. Oh man... one of my favorite bands. What was that like? I would have loved to have been there!
  17. God I miss Peabody's Down Under. I remember looking in the Plain Dealer years back, there was a section that listed live music venues and the groups playing. When I was younger I would circle the ones I wanted to go to and found lots of circles at Peabody's.
  18. And I want that grand piano that's in the lobby! A nice throwback.
  19. This highlights the hypocrisy more than anything else I can possibly think of.
  20. I was lucky and got some from a friend who is a donor. Even the orchestra members themselves don't get comped tickets for this one!
  21. It better not! Although I wouldn't put it past them. To me, it wouldn't save enough money to make up for the alienation of their frequent flyers. If every carrier does it, though, I guess it's the "new normal." I've got a feeling when everything is over, there will be a lot of "new normals."
  22. I'm glad though that they are doing their part as well to contain. We will get to enjoy their music when this is all over! Hopefully, the Blossom season can have a semblance of normalcy. I'm glad they are rescheduling the John Williams concert - I have tickets for that, but bought them from someone else.
  23. This is a lot of capacity for this route, even for the summer. They have decent load factors so far... on one daily flight. Once they triple the capacity, I'm not sure it will be sustainable. Delta is stronger in CMH than American is, and with Alaska and American renewing ties, I wonder if Alaska would consider shifting some of that capacity up north if Delta intrudes enough on their bottom line with this.
  24. I don't know... I kind of like the contrast that building provides in that spot.
