delayed due to a large abundance of projects associated with the RNC, but inevitable...money is there. Well I guess that's a good problem to have, thanks!

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
http://www.cleveland.com/travel/index.ssf/2016/04/frontier_airlines_launches_cle.html#incart_m-rpt-1 Frontier Airlines launches Cleveland-to-Portland route, has more destinations from Hopkins than every airline but one Frontier Airlines launches service this afternoon to Portland, Oregon, the 21st market the carrier has flown from Cleveland Hopkins in the past two years. Not every route has worked. At least six destinations -- including New York City, Dallas and Fort Lauderdale -- didn't perform well enough for the airline to continue service. But Frontier keeps trying -- adding and subtracting and then adding some more. "They're very agile. They aren't wed to bad decisions," said airline industry analyst Robert Mann. "They quickly see where things don't mature the way they predicted, and they move those assets."

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
No. Putting a low-density single-use gated community along a major downtown street would permanently end any hope of making this a functional section of downtown. The loss impacts not only this lot but everything within walking distance, and since this is downtown, the entire city. At least right now it is possible, and relatively inexpensive, to pursue an appropriate (high-density, mixed-use, transit-oriented) development for this nice graded lot. Once we put a little piece of Strongsville there, we're stuck with it. Any other possibility is deferred for a generation. I don't really think Cleveland's problem is not having enough land for mixed use development, lets start with filling in the gaps in the city center then we could worry about development outward and to the east. I think developing townhouses there would be a huge upgrade from what it currently is, empty lots. Travel down East 6th going into downtown Charlotte you'll see the same thing, lower level apartments and townhouses. I don't think it realistic, especially in the near future, that a developer would choice that location for a large mixed use development project.

Cleveland: Population Trends
I completely agree with you, although I think our downtown is a lot stronger and more populated than Cincinnati and defiantly Columbus.. We have billions of dollars in investment downtown and not many rust belt cities can really say that. The population in downtown Cleveland surpasses Cinci, Columbus, Pittsburgh and St. Louis.. I think we're going in the right direction and the fact that more young people are moving into neighborhoods like Ohio City, Tremont and University Circle to raise their families is amazing! Now we just need to work on jobs! I was reading that some of you think a lot of people are put off by Cleveland because of our image issues. Do you believe that the RNC and media will have any impact on that??

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Does it still look that bad? I flew out of Hopkins in December and just remembered thinking how much they had to go, assumed they'd be close by now! I'm going to L.A. in May and was hoping everything would be done! Btw, I fly Spirit a few times a year, cant beat it for the price really!

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Despite the optimism of a ''medical mart'' and Cleveland's growing role in healthcare, the city still struggles with a bad national reputation nationally. This is changing, however, but the city and region need job and population growth to really turn itself around. The census numbers come out to the public on Thursday so we'll have to wait and see 8-)

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
http://www.cleveland.com/travel/index.ssf/2016/02/cleveland_hopkins_passenger_tr.html Cleveland Hopkins International Airport drew more than 8.1 million passengers in 2015, a 6.45 percent increase over the year before, according to data from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The uptick in travelers, however, came after a dramatic drop in 2014, when passenger traffic decreased 16 percent in the year that United Airlines eliminated its hub in Cleveland.

Allegiant Air operates one of the oldest commercial fleets in this country. This MD88 was put into service in 1989. While not inherently unsafe due to age, you have to figure there is a couple bad apples floating around. Delta and American operate the MD88 on a much bigger scale than Allegiant everyday without incident. Allegiant is under investigation by the FAA for improper maintenance inspects and falsifying documents to save money. I wouldn't step foot onto an Allegiant plane, regardless the price of a ticket. Just look online, they have articles all over from varies incidences.

Agree Cleveland will be in an uphill battle during the RNC after people arrive at that bunker. Hopkins definitely isn't the best airport, especially during its construction phase.. But, it's defiantly not the worst, it service its purpose. Compared to many airports I've been to over the years I like it a lot

I'd consider it a pretty good recovery, considering the amount of low cost carriers that came in. Looking at Cincinnati when delta dropped them, they were the most expensive airport to fly out of until last year when Allegiant and Frontier came in. Luckily here at Cleveland Spirit, Frontier and Jetblue all came in within a year of the dehubbing. More competition is always healthy, now we just need growth from the carriers that are here. Even if you don't like the "ulta-low cost" carriers, they drive down the average fare across the board.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Being from Youngstown myself I can assure you that there are just as many Browns hats as Steelers hats... Strangely enough I've realize that folk from the inner city and worse suburbs tend to be Steelers fans, where outer most burbs are Browns fans.. Regardless, I think Youngstown will always be split. Although, I'd understand why people wouldn't want it tied to their city considering Youngstown's crippling economy.

I disagree... Denver and Tampa and MSP, for instance, are essentially NEO-sized... and THEY have good outreach Compared to every 'city our size" and many smaller ones (Charlotte, maybe SLC, Portland, etc..) CLE airport is seriously lacking in service, whether they are boxing above their weight and CLE boxing below ours or not. Hey but it is easy to use.. The cities that are our size and have larger airports also have a huge tourism presence and a growing populations, airlines see a future there. I honestly believe after the RNC and the Cavs hopefully making it to Finals we'll really see a turn around in the perception of Cleveland. It really has everything to do with our economy and population. We currently have roughly 16 million tourists a year visiting Cuyahoga County, and growing. Cleveland's on the right track and once the city rebounds so will Hopkins.
