  1. According to their website, the Lakewood Souper Market is supposed to open today.
  2. I pretty much agree with everything you say. I probably would rate Udupi a little higher than Jaipur, but they are very close...I just love Upupi's lunch buffet. I live right down the street from Indian Garden in Lakewood. It is really good...almost up to Udupi and Jaipur levels. And the decour is way better. My best friend at work is Indian and she says Udupi is the best, but thats mostly because she is from south India and Upupi is the only south Indian restaurant in town...all the others are north Indian.
  3. Yeah, they closed last week and put a sign up for Cold Stone. I agree that it will be the biggest ice cream store ever if they take the whole space. My wife works near there, and she said she heard rumors a year ago from the wait staff at champps that hoggy's was in trouble. They never did nearly as much business as champs or brio.
  4. Sees is pretty good and I can understand comparing Malley's against it. But Godiva and Vosges? Thats like saying "I just don't care for a Honda Accord...it doesn't compare to my Bentley or Ferrari". Of course its not as good as Vosges...a Malley bar also doesn't cost $7
  5. I can't comment on how Passage to India used to be (since I never ate there) but I think India Garden is very good. The best Indian is Udupi Cafe in Parma Hts. All vegetarian south Indian...really, really good.
  6. The owner of Melt is also the chef. JM is obviously doing something right, since it always seems crowded when I go there.
  7. The guy that owns Melt doesn't own Johnny Mango's...he used to be a chef at Johnny Mango's.
  8. Melt really is amazing...such a well done restaurant. Its one of those places that just gets everything right. If only they were a little bigger! We tried to go to brunch there yesterday at about 1pm and the wait was 30-40 min. If you haven't been there for brunch yet, I recommend it. I had a great steak omlet and really good homefries. 9am-9pm on Sundays. But obviously, be prepared to wait.
  9. Now that is something I can get behind...a brewpub I can walk to! Thats going to make a nice little bar cluster, with the Mars Bar, Old Stand and Patio within a block
  10. ^ Pretty excited about that massage parlor, eh?
  11. In the PD today it said that the Women's Final Four still needed lots of volunteers. If anyone is interested, you can go to http://www.womenrockcleveland.com to sign up. They have alot of openings to work as a greeter at the hotels around downtown. Basically you just have to work at a concierge-type desk and answer people's questions about where they can go to eat or for entertainment around town. I figured what better people to have working this job than the people on this forum! Lord knows we don't need someone from North Ridgeville, who "doesn't remember the last time they were downtown", trying to help these visitors. They'd probably try to send them out to Crocker Park so they could eat at TGIFridays. :whip: I signed up for 3 shifts working at the Hyatt. I think its a unique event to get involved in.
  12. Downtown Lakewood is getting 2 new restaurants. A Dave's Cosmic Subs and Souper Market are both opening near the corner of Warren and Detroit.
  13. This is going to be a jazz club with tapas called Wonder Bar. It's being opened by a guy from Boston. So it will probably be something like this: http://www.wonderbarboston.com/
  14. Here is a post from the cleveland.com forums about Light Bistro. It appears to be from the owner: "Just to clarify a bit about the menu, we will feature progressive American "tapas" ,small appetizer sized plates, and some larger portions that could be eaten by one as an entree or shared. We will also feature 2 tasting menus one that will be up to the diner to choose from the menu. The other will be made made up of products we find at the market that day. The "market menu" will feature the avant-garde style dishes the Leopard tasting menu has become known for. We also have a very exciting drink program in the works featuring hibiscus iced tea ,homemade ginger ale, and a wine list full of outstanding small boutique wines and organic wines."
  15. That would be me. Everyone I talk with at work, including managers, says we'll be out by 09 or 10. But, we did just paint all the walls and install some goofy gameroom on the eighth floor, so who knows. Once we move all our servers to the new building in Solon, I think we will hear a more definite plan about moving out of the May Co building.
  16. Its an upscale restaurant at the Bertram Inn in Aurora. I don't really know much about it. http://www.theleopardrestaurant.com/
  17. According to the cleveland.com Lifestyles blog, the former Parker's spot will reopen as Light Bistro in the spring. The former executive chef at The Leopard bought it. Sounds like they'll be doing the tapas thing. Glad that it isn't going to sit empty long!
  18. Looks like the guy who owns Snickers is opening a small restaurant next door that will be called Cheddars. It will be a mac and cheese only restaurant! 20 different kinds of mac and cheese! http://www.freetimes.com/story/4660
  19. ^^ Yeah, that Lola-NYE troll was pretty bad. You could tell he was creating new accounts to corraborate his story. I'm glad the real story came out. I've never been to Lola or Vivo, but I've been frequenting the Lolita happy hour recently, and it is fantastic. They have a small food menu and everything is $5. You can get the kobe burger ($15 on the normal menu), a half order of the mac and cheese (a very good sized portion), among other things. They have a few drink specials, including $2 Sierra Nevadas. I think it runs 5 - 6:30 Tues - Sat, 9:30 - close Tues - Thurs, 10 - close Fri & Sat, and 4 - close Sun. Makes a nice Sunday dinner.
  20. Yeah, I work at Tiedeman too, but luckily that restack put me on the 6th floor by the north windows so I have a great view of downtown.
  21. Unfortunately for Key employees, the May Co building is not just a data center, but is half of our IT staff. I used to work on the 8th floor of that building, and trust me, there are no windows in sight. They are all in conference rooms and offices. It can get pretty depressing in there if you don't go out to see the sun at lunch.
  22. Smith & Hawken and Sephora opened before xmas. I don't think they've started building the Puma or BCBG stores. The Gold's Gym/Chipotle/something else building is getting close to completion.
  23. I like to extend the west end bar district all the way to Hall or so. By my count, there are 14 bars/ liquor licenses in that, what, 10 block strip? Around the Corner Harry Buffalo Westend Riverwood Kennelworth Put-in-Bay Cronies Rush Inn Pug Mahone's Reagle Beagle (sure its a salon, but they have a bar!) Johnny Malloy's The Drink McCarthy's Panini's Pretty much all of them are neighborhood bars or college bars, but it makes for a fun pub crawl.
  24. There are few things more delicious than their gingerbread waffles.
