Cleveland: Tremont Place Lofts (Union Gospel Press)
A friend of ours lives in the Gospel Press and I finally got to check it out today. Its probably the most amazing apt building I've ever been in. His apartment is very nice, a smaller 1-bedroom. Similar in design to a Fries and Shules condo I've been in. The best part, though, is that all of the unfinished apartments thoughout the building are open for exploring. Every single one we saw was different. One was 3 stories. One had a rooftop deck with a great view of downtown. One had an internal deck that was surrounded by the building. Some of the apartments have entrances from the street. It felt like a labyrinth that you could get lost exploring. Great, great place. And before you say it, MyTwoSense, I didn't have a camera with me.

And the best spicy tomato & blue cheese soup on earth. Might have to try that this week. Its a great place (well, the Fairview one is...haven't been to the downtown one yet). Michael Symon helped the owner create his menu back when they first opened...so its the same soup that Symon has had on the menu at Lolita.

^The only thing I've ever eaten at Garage Bar are tater tots. Tater tots taste pretty good at 1:30.

West Park - Kamms Corner
I live in Lakewood, on the border of Westpark. Westpark is very nice part of Cleveland...lots of beautiful streets and houses. The nicest part, in my opinion, is the area north of Lorain and west of 150th. Its definitely more of a family oriented neighborhood. Lots of families and kids. It has good access to the Rocky River Reservation, which is great for biking, running, fishing, etc. Impett Park is a nice city park, with a pool, ballfields, tennis courts and a playground. Kamm's Corner's is undergoing a streetscape improvement right now, so hopefully that will lead to filling in some of the empty retail space. Currently there are 4 or 5 good bars there, with a Panini's set to open soon. Kamm's plaza has decent neighborhood retail, though the grocery store recently closed. I've heard that Dave's and Marc's both bid on the space, so I'm sure it will be replaced soon. There's a pretty good farmer's market on Sundays.

Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
Saw Guy Fieri of Diner's, Drive-ins and Dives at Lucky's yesterday. The Tipoff column of the PD also said they were filming at Melt and Parkview this past week, so it looks like Cleveland will be included in DD&D's next season!

^Yeah, there seems to be a furniture store going in what I believe was the old Goodwill store. And Panini's is taking over the old Alphanso's...thank god, that is a nice restaurant space and it's sat vacant for at least 4 years.

Blackbird Baking Co opened this week in Lakewood at the Lakewood-River border. The space is cute with a great open kitchen. We bought a rosemary foccacia for lunch and it was A-mazing! Can't wait to try more. I thought the prices were very reasonable too, compared to what I usually pay at the WSM bakeries. www.blackbirdbaking.com

Need Camping and beach advice around Lake Erie / Kelly island area in August
I know this isn't exactly where you were looking, but the state park out in Geneva-on-the-Lake has cabins and the beach out there is pretty nice. Thats way out east of Cleveland, as opposed to Kelly's and PIB which are out west. Geneva-on-the-lake is an interesting little resort town. Its main drag is kind of carnival-like, but it also has some wineries.

^Its in the former M Bistro building. It will be interesting to see how they turn that place into a Panini's...the patio should be great though.

gLee
I liked gLee alot, though some of it was a little goofy...like having a 5 person choir sound like a 50 person choir. I love the lady from Best in Show...she's hilarious. FYI, Jericho took place in Kansas. The new capital of the US was Columbus but I don't remember any scenes that took place there.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Huh? This argument doesn't make any sense. We were trying to secure home court advantage thoughout the whole playoffs up until winning the IND game. Thats a pretty good reason to keep playing your starters. The outcome of tonights game has no bearing on the playoffs for the Cavs. Its essentially an exibition game.

Cleveland: Weston / Gilbane Warehouse District Plans
With regards to the northern half of the project, why would they put the hotel facing W 3rd and the offices facing W 6th? If I'm staying at a hotel, I would much rather walk out the door and be on a street full of restaurants and bars than on W 3rd, which doesn't have much. And an office building really shouldn't care which street they're on. Seem's backwards to me.

someone on the cleveland.com comments said that St James needs a $200k roof. Not sure if its true or if its the reason it was chosen to close.

^I tend to agree, I work right next to a Panera and I never go there even though I go out for lunch everyday. The only issue I could see for Souper Market and Dave's is that I see a lot of Lakewood Hospital employees there for lunch, and now they'll have 1 more place to walk by on the way to SM and Dave's. I'd imagine Panera's will syphon off some customers.
