Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
Key tower looking like a flower bud emerging from the petals at the top of SHW from that vantage point.

Glad to see we got a shipping container @MayDay . Maybe we can have the next meetup there!

They cannot seriously be planning to call it that, can they?

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
If nothing else, that fire smell can be pervasive. I'm surprised they think it's worth saving. Looks like the doors are on the elevators too. Not sure if that's just the doors or the cabs as well.

I love it, save for the generic-sounding name. These Tribute Portfolio hotels by definition don't have a corporate brand first, so I get why they're doing it. Still, couldn't they come up with something a little more memorable? Perhaps the name Hulett is now available...

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
I agree the empty space is strange, but I doubt it would stay empty for long. Space is always at a premium on airport grounds. It could give them flexibility for reconstructing the concourses, or eventually turn into retail / food & beverage / lounge space. Perhaps even an onsite hotel, although I wonder about that behind security.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
I like the look of the proposed new landside terminal, and getting that as a new build from the ground up feels like an upgrade from the most recent prior plan. And the phasing of it makes it feel a whole lot cleaner and understandable to a layperson. So I can’t help but wonder what’s driving such a radical deviation from that earlier plan. It almost seems too easy, like why didn’t they propose it this way before? Did they get feedback from the airlines that led the project in this direction, or was the cost of the whole thing insurmountable? Was the phasing proposed earlier too complex, resulting in higher cost? I’d love it if we had a news organization that had the capability to ask the tough questions here and do a deep dive into the project’s evolution to this proposal. I certainly hope they’re not giving up on the concourse rebuilds entirely, and instead just kicking that can down the road until more funds become available. Those concourses are just as tired and cramped as the front end, and what a letdown it would be to go from a shiny new terminal to dingy and antiquated gate concourses.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
I'm not a subscriber, but for some reason I was able to read it this morning, and now I'm not. But as I remember, there's basically one main trail that will run alongside the river through the park, connecting to the towpath and lake link. That's the one that they're hoping to finish in 2027.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
That https://www.cleveland.com/news/2025/05/check-out-the-transformation-already-happening-at-clevelands-irishtown-bend.html article made it seem like it's still going to be a long time before we're going to see anything like what's been rendered. 2027 for trail completion, maybe 2028 for the first phase of the park. The rest as yet undefined. I thought funding was all or almost all secured, so was surprised the timeline for full completion is undefined.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
What genius dreamed up this "Furthest East Dome in the United States" business? Like, so what? People from New York are going to drive here for events because our stadium is domed and MetLife isn't? It's just silly.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
That's got to be the most cringey restaurant name fad going. I almost automatically avoid a place with 'social' in the name. I'll be glad when it dies out.

Cleveland: Downtown: New Police Headquarters
This job does seem to be taking an awful long time. I wonder if that has something to do with it, or who knows what the planned move in date was at the outset.

Using MayDay's last picture above, see how the vertical strips that are outlined match up to the tower lighting design update photo shared by @willyboy on April 8? I think these will form the colored light crown. @MayDay I included your copyright watermark, so I hope this repost is OK to illustrate my point.

Does Forest City still exist as an entity? I thought they were absorbed into something else.

I swear there were some close up drone pics quite some time ago showing the crown lighting strips being installed.

The aroma of those oatmeal raisin cookies hitting you when you first stepped in to Quaker Square is something I'll always remember about going there when I was a kid.

I think their lake view is about to get severely cropped by Shoreway Tower, so good time to sell. I wonder if the buyers know.

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
I wonder if they couldn't complete the rooftop amenity work because of equipment there for the very late install of the upper floors facade panels. Although it sounds like other major items are lagging as well.

And large open spaces like Public Square and the malls made it spread out as well.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Good point, and it makes me wonder why Bedrock selected the location for their "Rock & Roll Land" attraction and hotel so far to the east of the property. Seems like putting it closer to the center of the property near the existing Avenue concourse would spin off activity and foot traffic to the mall.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
While I love the idea and intention behind the North Coast Yard pop-up, I worry that such a big area of hot asphalt may not be all that hospitable in the summer. The second rendering really illustrates how much pavement is involved. But I hope it succeeds in terms of getting people down there to see what works and what doesn't.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Agree. Retired exurbanite here and my wife and I have made many outings into Cleveland to eat somewhere interesting and dig through thrift stores. This gives us another destination in Detroit-Shoreway.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
I worked in administration at Kent State for almost 10 years until retiring almost 3 years ago. It’s a common refrain in higher ed in Ohio that there’s Ohio State and then there’s all the other schools. Ohio state is in a class by itself, and they pretty much get funding to afford whatever they need. The other schools, not so much.
