Still, seems relatively simple from a technology point of view, and probably low cost.
  2. Maybe it’s just me, but by the looks of that mismatched facade and some of the signage, “finished” isn’t exactly the first word that comes to my mind.
  3. Largest building by what measure? Certainly the library and probably several other buildings on campus are larger by square footage. Largest classroom building maybe?
  4. It will either be razed or used to house administrative functions. Coming out of the pandemic, university administration is taking a stance of no net new square footage.
  5. That's a far cry from earlier renditions of that hotel. Sigh.
  6. If you count what they may be using for the parking garage at SHW. Otherwise, nothing I can think of is soon enough in the development pipeline. City Club is a fairly small footprint, so it should go up quickly.
  7. Glad to see this! We’re going to have 2 highly visible cranes in the sky over DT Cle for many months, between this and Sherwin-Williams. IIRC, the cranes for Beacon and Lumen were only up simultaneously for a matter of weeks or at most a couple months.
  8. @Cadmen, that was a good and thoughtful analysis. Personally, I'm still unsure about the purple paint and that swoopy googie-type thing on top, but I'm reserving judgment until the product is finished.
  9. It is a unique view. However, I have always felt that the elevation below Huron Rd. had an unfinished look to it, with the beams sticking out and whatnot. Hopefully Adjaye and his team can work some magic to make us forget about losing this view.

But lately there’s been new progress on the development of two parcels there. At 211 Franklin Ave., where a six-story residential/commercial complex is under construction, supply chain issues had halted momentum for months. But work is now going forward. And next door there’s a new sign: leasehold interest sale by CBRE.   13. In general, I wouldn't disagree. But looking at KJP's aerial and the other rendering, some green space done well might not be a bad thing. Now that this thing has possibly grown to include a third phase, the phases taken as a whole could be overpowering without some green space.
  14. What a waste. I remember Hard Rock stating they wanted to focus their efforts in this market at Northfield when the rocksino opened. See how long that lasted. Now we have the unimaginative MGM instead.

  17. It was at a complete stop right after the concrete structure was finished, for a couple months with no visible progress. I’d been guessing due to either supply chain issues or an inexperienced developer.

  19. I’m not usually one to opine on aesthetic considerations here before a project is finished, but I can’t help it on this. It looks downright silly.
  20. I may be uninformed, but I can’t think of a single example of an “outlet mall” in the middle of a city’s CBD. Those projects are typically situated way out in the boonies where the land is cheaper, and right off the interstate. Every one I’ve been to is very formulaic in terms of layout and the types of stores they have. As for “high end”, the stores in these outlet malls have pricing positioned well below what you’re going to find at a Beachwood or Pinecrest. Not sure I’d call them high end.
  21. Which construction experts here can explain what’s going on in that last pic? I’d heard there was to be no basement level, so figured the caissons would come all the way to ground level. In that picture those round things look like the top of some of the caissons. But I see others to the side and behind that excavation coming all the way up to the ground. Will they just pour more concrete on top of those round things currently below ground level to carry the load of the tower?
  22. I’ve never heard of this developer, but if I’m looking at the right website, they’re not local. Hopefully they’re not going to hire Ryan Homes to do the townhomes and ranches. Other times I’ve gotten excited about a development then found out later that the developer used Ryan to bring in their cookie cutter designs.
  23. I thought the city was trying to get this developed as an industrial park. But it seems small for industrial use. Seems like First & Main Hudson is an aspirational target. I highly doubt this will end up being that upscale.
  24. So there's concrete at the bottom of that excavation. What comes next? Do they pour concrete up to ground level to form a poured mat foundation?
