Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Do the midges have any effect on it's construction? I wonder if there'll be a slight lull over the next week or so where you can spot someone taking time to scrape 'em out each day. There must be a couple floors in all the buildings downtown where encased midges technically making up a fraction of a percentage of the structure. It's a somewhat silly, but genuine question.

That massing has been floating around since late 2014 though, before they released actual renderings. I've been puzzled for a while as to why I keep finding it when an accurate and high quality massing was included in their final presentation.

Hudson: Development and News
I think several homes on those streets are Hudson Historic homes, including Owen Brown's own house dating back to 1843. There is a complete sidewalk on the north side of the street however the south sidewalk stretches from Main Street until it reaches Owen Brown's house. I believe it is part of the plan to convert Owen Brown back to brick street which, in addition to splitting around the park, is supposed to reduce the speed of through traffic on the street.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
I know this is the second push, and that we have somewhat just started to have some consistent upwards momentum, but does anyone have a guess at what the rate in days per floor would be. Additionally, if they construct this in three floors chunks, will that lead to quicker cladding process/one that will reveal how the cladding looks in person earlier (even though I assume that's still far off)? Don't know if these are difficult/redundant/premature questions, they're just some things I've been wondering about.

Cleveland Urbex Outing
The Warney & Swasey Complex at E55 and Carnegie is crazy cool, although it just went back on the market so I'm not sure of how closely it's being monitored now. Also, you have to pull a quick 90 degree turn right after you go under the railroad tracks. But it's got incredible graffiti and views and you have to try to to get on the two different roof areas. My friend also likes to go on top of the May Co. building right on Public Square but again, not sure of how easy/inconspicuous it is to get in there. You guys could climb up the bascule bridge next to Nautica in the Flats which is pretty popular spot with extraordinary views. I know of a couple other places around Northeast Ohio that are really great to check out, just not Downtown Cleveland. I'd be happy to talk about this more here or in PM if you'd like.

The steel on the eastern face and corner looks thicker/different. Seems as if they still have to extend westward by two "bays". Just an observation.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
I believe Google Maps was recently updated to include a lot of new projects and some completed ones that were previously shown as dirty lots or in utero. Apologies if this in the wrong place/redundant to post this.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Yeah I think a photo of the site like once a week would be helpful for those not in NEO so that even if there is no visible progress/nothing to discuss, there is still a way to check in with the project. I realize as I am not in NEO currently this burden wouldn't fall on me but I would think there are others interested in this idea.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
In response to Sooner's question, I'm not sure if the same method will be used in this tower, but Freethink found an article several months back explaining how this process was done in another tower and it could give clues to Stark's approach for this one. Apologies for no specific knowledge on this project.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Can't wait to see this thing from inside the Arcade, especially at night, and the opposing views from the terrace on the 21st level should be spectacular. On another note, seems like Play Euclid would have been a great opportunity to utilize that parklet that was supposed to go in front of Noodle Cat. Couldn't go as I'm stuck in Cincy, but how successful was Play Euclid? I was just a little underwhelmed from the pictures I saw, especially with the Indians killing it not far away. Thought it would get a little more traffic.

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
I was taking a tour of the firm that won the bid last semester, can't recall which at the moment, and I remember seeings some renderings and models hidden in a cubicle. Didn't take any pictures but from what I can remember there were multiple 3 story cubic forms extruding in and out of the building, with one larger one punching a square hole through the middle, all of this being from about floors 6-11. My memory could be off, it could have been a concept plan, student entry, or just them having fun, but it's something to think about I guess.

Especially because this is a mixed use development. This brings vibrancy to the street and adds residences and workers to what would otherwise be a vacant lot. No one is likely to hold out for a better deal and I don't think there really is one. The only other options would be a larger development, which it already is quite large, or maybe a park? Are there really other uses that the property could be better suited for? I don't think so. As stated earlier, it's a win-win-win.

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
I got out of studio early today and was able to walk over and take some pics with my iPhone. If there's any specific angle someone wants I can try to go back tomorrow if I have time. I might try to get into Scioto and check out the view from there. I hope this is not too much/formatted poorly, I'm just not too familiar with posting photos.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
My neighbors are having a kid from France stay with them for 3 weeks. We took him to Cleveland today and had lunch at Coastal Taco. We ended up renting a jet ski and had an amazing time riding all around inside the breakwater from Whiskey Island to Gordon Park. Public Square was amazing but the S&S monument was unfortunately closed. Then we got a private tour of the Formation Room and back stage at the House of Blues which was crazy. After heading to the Arcade he couldn't stop saying how much he loved Cleveland. He said it was "chic". I hope this was an appropriate place for this kind of post.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I may just be noticing this for the first time but looking at the webcam on Public Square there seems to be red LED lighting along the top of the Higbee building facing the square. I know several people mentioned they liked the slick look of JACK Casino's red branding paired with the building but are these LEDs preferable to most of you on such a visible area?

Wow I just saw people crossing through the square on motorbikes on the webcam.

Cavs Parade - Up Close & Personal!
We watched the parade from the atrium of One Cleveland Center. We found a spot next to the window and the white truss acted as a barrier so we had plenty of room. I'll never get tired of how blue the Hilton's glass is, and I'll never get tired of these awesome photos of 1.3 million people coming together in Cleveland.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Oh yeah I forgot to comment about my RTA experience. We tried to park at Van Aken shopping center and that was obviously a no go so we found a spot at the Avalon station. After waiting there for a while we decided to try the next stop and catch a ride. Did that a couple times and then ended up just walking. We decided to just walking to Cleveland. When we got to the station at Woodhill my friends weren't having it so we tried to get on there and that's when we were able to get on. I had a great time though all in all and everyone we saw on the way was extremely kind.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
The Terminal Tower's twitter account tweeted this photo earlier today of what appears to be an invitational banner to be hung in place of the art installation on Public Square. https://twitter.com/TowerLightsCLE/status/745314778130825216?lang=en edit: it's already up there

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
I really want Destination Cleveland to make the Cleveland script one of the snapchat filters for Cleveland. It's like the same thing they are doing with these signs but it offers people to take it with them in a way. I've been thinking about this for a while I'm just too shy to suggest it to them and such and I don't think I can send it in myself as it's their logo. Maybe this has already been discussed somewhere else in the thread and I missed it I just thought this was an opportune time.

Cleveland: Downtown: Hilton Cleveland
Wow, I am having trouble linking it but should you look at the most recent update for the hotel the pictures are astonishing. The shot of the main lobby is strikingly similar to the rendering and I think it looks really nice. I also really like the shot of the tower surrounded by greenery and behind the glow of the convention center. Anyways, really excited for the opening in 12 1/2 hours.

Looks like they are testing the fountain lights tonight. Very pretty!
