  1. Every time I look at that building I think it should be a hotel. It has the size and beauty to be a great, large (but not too large) hotel in Over the Rhine.
  2. Elm not Walnut? "Is Kroger eyeing Downtown site for new store?" http://cin.ci/1oWJQbG Edit: Whoops just saw that this was posted above. Sorry about that.
  3. As long as they don't destroy any more of the old buildings on Court St. Wasn't there something recently about many of those buildings being bought up? Are they trying to turn into Ultra-mega Kroger?
  4. The one thing that gave me hope for this was when I drove by at an earlier iteration of it being dismantled, the more ornate stone/brickwork was being carefully removed before the wall came down. I kept telling myself that maybe they were taking it down for repairs (but this was before everything was taken down). However, once I saw entire walls come down I gave up on this idea. So who knows at this point without renderings. Everything is speculation.
  5. I thought the exact thing when I drove by. Really does not seem like they are saving the building. From the looks of this, it will likely end up like TUC.
  6. whoops attachment didn't go through
  7. It'll be something like this
  8. The group wanting to bring the Cincinnati Streetcar to NKY are heading to DC to explore fund options for a feasibility study. http://rcnky.com/articles/2016/02/23/team-hoping-bring-streetcar-northern-kentucky-heads-dc
  9. Can people who don't live in OTR come and express their opinions? I live in the CBD, so I feel that we should also have opinions of value at these meetings.
  10. I read somewhere, without evidence, that 3CDC is making this their new office. Anyone else hear this? I was hoping for a fabulous beer hall...
  11. The next streetcar is on its way. http://m.wlwt.com/news/third-streetcar-on-the-move-toward-cincinnati/37921380
  12. The link has a template email to send to the Director of Buildings and Inspections. I edited this and sent it. I suggest we all do the same. We cannot afford to lose anymore of our history (Especially to parking lots).
  13. Article on how OTR's recent success has created a more economically diverse neighborhood than before. http://m.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2016/01/28/how-has-otrs-housing-been-transformed-over-the.html
  14. Yeah, that's what I thought. It's weird because there's very little being said about it. There is no obligatory "everyone is mad at streetcar developer" from the enquirer.
  15. Does anyone know when the final 3 streetcars are scheduled to arrive? I thought we were getting one a month starting last October and ending in February. Originally, I heard all would be delivered by February, but I doubt they'll deliver 3 within the next few weeks (unless they are?)
  16. I directly asked the CEO of Kroger why we still don't have a quality downtown grocery store and he couldn't give me a good answer. They keep hinting that they may, but it still seems a long way away. I've walked past Court Street recently and what is now parking in the middle of the street once used to be an urban market. This sits at the base of their headquarters. I think it would be awesome to put in a modern grocery back in this location, but with the old market structure feel. What better place to do this than at the foot of their empire? I think it would be a wonderful way to reintegrate back into downtown Cincinnati.
  17. I live on 4th street and the potential for this to become a major high end retail destination is great. However, so much is empty at the moment. The historic area has so many beautiful buildings there is no reason they should not be full of awesome things. I look at Bang and Olufsen and see that as hope for the future. The Gidding Jenny building was going to have a movie theater but AMC shot that down (which is awful). I heard a rumor about tearing down the building to the left (TJ Maxx) and putting in a Target. I really hope no additional historic buildings are lost. I don't think a target and a dominoes pizza is what 4th street needs. Bring in an Apple Store and the rest will come. I sent an email to Tim Cook (he apparently reads his emails from the general population) but obviously never heard back.
  18. Looks like very little is going on here and your suspicion of the scaffolding being for falling debris was correct. http://m.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2016/01/13/here-s-what-s-going-on-with-this-former-downtown.html
  19. I heard from someone who works at city hall that this may be coming down in February. I can't wait for this eyesore to be removed. 4th street deserves better than this. (I've been reading these forums for a while and just recently joined.)
