  1. They even had a guy on stilts juggling yesterday
  2. His Facebook post says it was "sold". So did he sell the business and maybe it will reopen?
  3. I heard a streetcar worker (had a badge and was going home from work) discussing with a cop how no one in Cincinnati violates fares. He was very impressed since he came from the Portland system where he said "everyone" rides without paying. Obviously he is using hyperbole, but still good to hear that we are not having issues.
  4. Cincinnati Children's new patient tower will take over the block Check out this article from The Cincinnati Enquirer: Cincinnati Children's expansion would reshape Avondale http://cin.ci/2m8ssCn
  5. Saw Michael Williams (Omar from The Wire) at Findlay Market today

That's the old Pogue's warehouse on Race street (I believe). It's right next to O'Malley's in the Alley
  7. Just drove past at 6:30AM and they are roping off for demo prep

This was in the River City News: It just so happens that Berding's old boss, Bill Butler, and Corporex own the Ovation site in Newport, which is a large swath of riverfront land long awaiting a development. Additionally, Covington was rocked by the announced departure of its IRS center, which could also open up development on another large piece of near-riverfront property. "Are we aware of those sites? Yes we are," Berding said, when asked by The River City News at Thursday's event. He declined to get into specifics of the site evaluation process but said sites are explored in the team's application to MLS. "Our commitment, because soccer is urban, we have said we were going to build a stadium in the urban core and last I checked, this side of the river has an urban core," Berding said. "So, whether it's Clifton or maybe a little bit north of Clifton and it comes down to what I would call the riverfront, Northern Kentucky, absolutely.

    You named your son Horseshoe?

What is their definition of the urban core?
  11. The first picture is of what stood at the NW corner of 4th and Race. The second one is what stood at the SE corner of 5th and Elm

Does anyone know what's going on in the Gidding-Jenny building (former TJ Maxx) on 4th street? There's new window stickers claiming some kind of fashion studio and there have been people tooling around inside

I think this would be a great idea. Is there enough space there? The bengals do not need their practice field there. It can be in the suburbs

I would prefer for the stadium to be somewhere in the urban basin if it cannot be Nippert. We need to have streetcar/light rail access and the closest thing to this happening would be Nippert. Next would be a line going out to Queensgate/West End which can also connect to Amtrak. I think a suburban-style big box area (as in Oakley) would be a mistake. Oakley had their chance to make this an urban neighborhood and it's a sea of parking.
  15. The NY subway has very accurate arrival times and is subterranean and cannot rely on GPS. What do the subway systems use?
  16. The streetcar now has the voice of Nick Lachey. He also lists the stops as their sponsor name and location, which makes it very long: "the next stop is the Cincinnati cyclone station at the banks"

Someone I know who works in City Hall said that the building that houses Level night club and Jimmy G's will be torn down eventually. If they plan to expand across Elm and take out the hotel (hopefully), then I imagine in the place of this building and the parking lot they could build a new, large, convention center sized hotel.
  18. Slightly off topic, but I'm not sure if any of you saw this Sam Adams commercial from a few weeks ago. The whole thing was filmed at the "Cincinnati Brewery". All the workers are wearing the "Cincinnati Brewery" gear and the very last shot has a couple workers standing on the roof with a blurry Cincinnati in the background. https://www.ispot.tv/ad/AF2i/samuel-adams-pursuit-song-by-x-ambassadors-jamie-n-commons
  19. I'm a season ticket holder for the ballet and I frequent the opera, CSO and Pops. I'm 33 years old and I play the violin (classical, jazz, rock, bluegrass). I've played in volunteer orchestras most of my life, including in college. Many of the people in my orchestra in college went on to conduct or manage community orchestras. Even though, 1400 Sycamore, you do not get why people like this music, a whole lot of people still do. I imagine if people stop going to college for music or stop wanting to learn classical instruments, then it may become a problem. When was the last time you went to the ballet? Probably never. There are a TON of children there, many of them girls dressed as dancers. They are a whole squadron of future "white hairs". Lets please stop feeding the troll on this topic, myself included.
  20. He must be very impressive to be able to be on all the streetcars, all the time, to be able to make that assessment.

I've heard from someone who works at Macy's corporate that our downtown location is on the chopping block. He is unsure though if they will actually go through with it and thinks they are stalling to see if the population changes in downtown Cincinnati will affect performance.
  22. I'm not sure where to put this, so I'll leave it here. Apparently George Lucas is looking for a city to place a Lucas Museum with tons of memorabilia. He's having trouble finding a spot, even though he will 100% fund it. I feel Cincinnati could be a contender, since this was the home of Kenner Toys. What do you guys think? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2017-01-03/george-lucas-can-t-give-his-1-5-billion-museum-away?cmpid=socialflow-twitter-businessweek&utm_content=businessweek&utm_campaign=socialflow-organic&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social
  23. That is amazing
  24. It looks like they added windows and then replaced the brick and the ornaments
