Like the Dean and Deluca in Georgetown, but modern. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Washington,+DC/@38.9051671,-77.0651766,3a,60y,177.8h,89.4t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1suI21GLIpOejm77dHGFqFsw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4m5!3m4!1s0x89b7c6de5af6e45b:0xc2524522d4885d2a!8m2!3d38.9071923!4d-77.0368707!6m1!1e1

I think it is still technically a market. There were 1 or 2 booths that still set up a few days per week when I worked downtown 2007-2009. What I mean is to rebuild a structure that sits in the middle of the street (where cars are now parked). The original was not as beautiful as 6th street Market, but making some kind of modern version of this would be awesome. It probably wouldn't function as Findlay does with separate vendors and probably not a farmer's market, but rather as an urban grocery store with a classic feel. However, this would never happen since Kroger seems to only think about building mega stores.

I would love to see a market go back in the central parking area. I think it could be a flagship for modern urban markets for Kroger, right at the foot of their headquarters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

More parcels being bought by investors with no clear plan on Court Street. Does anyone know what's going on here? I'd hate for them to raze the block, even if it meant a grocery store. http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2016/06/23/group-of-anonymous-investors-buys-more-property.html
  5. Sigh.....http://cin.ci/1tmxZW6. Will this ever happen or will there always be something that pushes it back? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah the SW corner of 5th and Elm. The one with Level Night Club and Jimmy G's.

I heard from someone (who works at City Hall) that this building is on their list to be replaced. With what or when, I have no idea.
  8. The Wendy's on 4th Street is leaving http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2016/06/10/last-of-the-big-three-burger-joints-pulls-out-of.html

I've never seen anyone in there as a customer or a shop clerk. The decor is from the 1960s, as if someone just left it there in the 60s and never returned.

Does anyone know what's going on behind Union Optical at the corner of Court and Vine? This building had some ugly addition to the rear of the building that is currently being demolished. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I was just present at a small talk by UC's athletic director Mike Bohn. One of the audience members asked him about UC and the renovations to the US Bank Arena. He basically said that they really wanted to make it work, but the city officials weren't promising enough to them. Basically, they would have given a little money to help UC and then go to the tax payers for the rest of the money. If it were to fail, most of the financial burden would fall on UC. In addition, the student representatives said they would go downtown as long as the team was winning, but otherwise he was told they wouldn't (paying for parking was an issue for the students). He described it as being too big of a risk for the University. Finally, in his own words he says "y'know, we don't even have the trolley coming up here! Maybe if we had the trolley up here to move students back and forth easily it would have been a different story". Then made some comment about how he knows the streetcar is a politically sensitive subject and didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers.
  12. I live in an apartment building behind these buildings. The roof access on one of the buildings was left open about 1.5 years ago and I've watched the roof slowly rot and couldn't do anything about it. I'm sure it was intentional.
  13. I really hope they get some funding to modernize their exhibits. I remember when I was a kid and those exhibits were new...I'm almost 33 now.

An affiliate of Neyer Holdings Corp. purchased the buildings at 128 and 130 E. Sixth St., known as the Reakirt and Brunswick buildings, respectively, from Kiji Steakhouse Inc. for $2 million. Neyer, chairman and CEO of Neyer Holdings, said he is working on redevelopment plans for both buildings. “We have a lot of ideas for these properties,” Neyer told me. “We chased them for over two years. They truly are at the center of everything great happening at the core of Cincinnati.” The two buildings are the only properties between the southbound streetcar stop on Walnut Street and the northbound streetcar stop on Main Street that have not been redeveloped. The former 580 Building, now known as AT580, is undergoing a $50 million redevelopment into a mix of retail, office and residential space. Restaurateur David Falk moved his critically acclaimed Boca restaurant to the former home of the Maisonette at 114 E. Sixth St., part of a $12.6 million Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. project. Next door, 3CDC developed Igby’s, a $3.9 million entertainment venue from Four Entertainment Group. 15. On another note, which of these would fit an FCC stadium? (sorry not an FCC thread - feel free to post response using this map in FCC forum)
  16. Ideally we'd have a loop connecting Cincinnati, Covington, and Newport that goes in BOTH directions to avoid that problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. A couple times I've tried to catch the streetcar while walking and would not have been able to unless I broke into a run. It goes faster than people think. In cold weather, rain, snow, hot days, and carrying groceries back from market will all be times I will be thrilled to have the streetcar (even if I could have walked it).
  18. I'm not sure where people around here have come up with this idea that public services are supposed to make money. It's not a business model to fill the city's coffers. It's a public service that will help transport people around the downtown and eventually farther. How much money does filling potholes make? Or garbage collection? Or cleaning poop out of our water? These are all projects that are paid for by citizens to better our lives, not make money. Public transportation is such a service.
  19. 3CDC's chairman of the board is John Barrett, who is also Western and Southern's CEO. The Barrett's are long time friends of the Joseph's. I'm sure 3CDC was forced to sell to the Joseph's and that's why it was so quick. I think W&S has been looking for a new HQ tower and I wonder if this is the spot they are eying. Previously I thought it was the area near Lytle Park, but now I don't know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Anyone behind the paywall want to let us know what the outcome was?
  21. I'm not sure where to post this. Does anyone know what this building is? It's on the SE corner of 4th and Race and I see it everyday while exiting my apartment. The scaffolding has been up for months (presumably in the Dennison Hotel fashion). However, today there is a new construction rubbish chute on the backside with construction guys tooling around. Does anyone know what is going on? I love this building and I hope something good is happening with it.

  23. I use them a lot, but I live in the CBD. I don't think I'd ever take one up to the campus area, but would definitely consider going down! I see people using them pretty much daily down in the CBD and OTR. I've even taken one from Covington back to 4th street.
