  1. Even a remote possibility of a significant new building downtown is very welcome news-even though there are some important projects around town - it’s been a very quiet year when you talk downtown construction.
  2. I want that! Our lakefront should be a place not only to visit every “once in a while” - it should be a place where people live, work, and meet on a daily basis.
  3. Not as sunny and impressive as @Geowizical’s pics, but a couple more down at Scranton..
  4. A few new SW pics from JonesDrones on IG-
  5. And it’ll be interesting to see if the park actually promotes some new residential activity adjacent to it. A couple new high rise apartments/condos overlooking the park, with a view of downtown would be great.

  8. That topic of the new courthouse sure has been quiet over the last year or so….
  9. SW should've built (or arranged with a developer) to put a nice 20-25 story hotel there - but I guess they didn't want their HQ "blocked" from the square. But more than half of the tower would've still been unblocked even with such a hotel - and just imagine how much more life there would've been on the square. And, as others said, some months ago - there should've definitely been a plan to buildatop the parking garage. Really silly that they didn't plan for that. Wish there was something new and positive to talk about - but there isn't.
  10. I miss the days when NEOTRANS used to bring good news.
  11. The kids are right! The old sign was way classier.
  12. And if that picture represents anybody’s idea of bad traffic - well, come on people..
  13. Just when we started to believe- “ok this time it’s happening.. “.
  14. Ambitious- but Hell yeah! And we can get it started with a couple mixed-use “Intro” or “Van Aiken” like mixed-use apartment/condo buildings.
  15. Agreed. Many of the comments on this topic have seemed to focus on singular ideas that would be attractions - aquarium, Ferris wheel etc. But please let there be residential. What an opportunity to create a whole new beautiful neighborhood on the lakefront. The views looking either north or south would be stunning. Look how the new apartments on Scranton Peninsula are changing the aesthetic of the city - and many said that could never happen. Imagine an actual neighborhood on this parcel. And yes, there’s room for different kinds of uses including recreational. Hope the city’s leaders think big because everything starts with a vision.
  16. Love @Boaty McBoatface’s photo - this shot shatters the old image of Cleveland as a tired old ugly industrial city - especially with that vast lakefront perspective- obviously SW filled a gigantic gap - now, someone build a new skyline changing tower - or two or three!
  17. I agreed with all of @JohnSummit’s points - certainly, there’s a whole lot to celebrate with this news - a return of a top floor full service restaurant, perhaps one with some live music, will be awesome. But the idea of some signature lighting atop the Tower is something I’ve wanted for a long time - it would almost feel like a new skyscraper in the night sky and really expand the nighttime skyline. The only thing that would’ve made this more wonderful would’ve been if they decided to add those extra floors as someone proposed a few years back. Anyway, Fantastic news for Cleveland!
  18. Hope 2025 is off to a good start for you UrbanOhio fans- Just a few slightly different perspectives including the new SW Tower (courtesy of Jonesdrones on IG)

Well, the sh*tshow that was the 2024 Cleveland Browns season just mercifully ended with the latest beat- down - this time by The Ravens - for a lowly 3-14 finish. Both offense and defense were awful this year and there’s more problems to fix than - well, pick your analogy. The entire organization from owner to coaching to most of the players deserve a failing grade - and Cleveland fans deserve so much better. The culture has not really changed - they’re once again one of the bottom dwellers of the league. What else can you say about this failed franchise? Thank God for those Cavaliers!
  20. I was wondering when/if that project was happening- anyone know its status?
  21. Well, then we better get that skyline-changing hotel built quickly. Just think of the victory lap that @zbaris87 will be able to take!
  22. Ah, lights make such a difference- Anyone have information on when the vertical lighting strips will debut? (photo by Jones drones today)
  23. Thanks @KJP - A great breakdown of the logical and the possible and the difficult distinction between "what has always been" and "what could be". Having no inside information, I have to think that the Brookpark move is indeed what will eventually happen - BUT - if all the "powers that be" in the city really go "all-in" and dedicate themselves to an early close for Burke maybe, just maybe - the Haslams might reconsider their thinking. Maybe a new Cleveland-based stadium is still possible with the best of both worlds - 1) adjacent to downtown - with 2) a huge new lakefront parcel open for a smarter, growth-oriented future. It may be hard to see it for many of us right now - especially after all the years of significant population loss and the old Cleveland mentality about being unable to make big things happen - but - wow, with the amount of land that we have available immediately adjacent to downtown - the future could be more amazing for this city than we think. Might take a few decades to get near @Ardoonave's amazing vision - but, as the future is unwritten - it is currently in the realm of "the possible." This all might be simply wild-eyed optimism, but I choose to keep hoping.... for now..
  24. I think this is the correct thread for my musings -looking over @GISguy’s great pic below- maybe an SW2 (hardly a given at this moment) would fill the gap between Courthouse Tower and HQ1 - and could a tall residential (or other) tower on the riverfront be tall enough to help fill in the gap between SW and Key? Or does the lower elevation of the Bedrock riverfront preclude that?
