  1. Looks like the steel has surpassed the Justice Center. Love it!
  2. 2028 sounds “forever” away - but it’s actually definitely getting close in terms of a significant development project. I hope the city realizes the opportunity it has to create something special for the next generation or two (hopefully) of Cleveland residents. Do it right stakeholders- make a reasonable common sense deal to keep the team downtown. And while I’m throwing in my two cents - go ahead and build a new stadium on the near east side of downtown to activate both that dead zone and a new lakefront that will transform Cleveland’s lakefront for decades to come.
  3. @OldEnoughgets the thumb up just for being the first to say he likes The Shack. Honestly, I think after all the moanin’ about it - the result is going to end up being very effective - it allows for a more expansive feeling at PS - and for an unimpeded view of the HQ from a lot of angles. Having said that, I’d be just fine with a 400’ building (or more) to the west , just behind it in the rumored but dubious phase 2.
  4. There hasn’t been a more worthy project for TMUD $ than Bridgeworks IMO - it is the definition of what TMUD was supposed to be about. How many projects in Cleveland since TMUD began have actually commenced? I’m asking (not making a point).
  5. It’s been a month since the last word in this thread - with time passing, costs escalating and silence where this project is concerned - you have to wonder if we’ll ever see these beautiful renderings become reality. Hopefully, there’s still the will to make this happen…
  6. But that would be a substantive piece.
  7. Just an (hopefully) interesting SW factoid. I was curious how SW ranked amongst tallest construction projects in the U.S. currently - and, the answer -its the 26th tallest (not sure as to square footage rank) building under construction right now in the USA. (There are dozens of much taller projects worldwide, especially in China - didn't bother counting all those.) Here at home - there are 6 taller in NYC, including 5 at the 1000 foot or higher range, 5 in Miami, 4 in boomtown Austin (what a skyline they'll have), 2 in LA, 2 in Boston, 1 in Houston, 1 in Philly at 670 feet (that one has to be the ugliest building ever) the Hudson Tower in Detroit at 685' and one each in Vegas and Chicago. The only smaller market with one slightly taller is the Mutual of Omaha HQ in Omaha (a Pickard Chilton building. (Info from the Skyscraperpage.com). It's pretty clear that the design was intended from the get-go not to exceed, or I guess, in some way, overshadow the Terminal Tower - but, SW if it had wanted to, probably could've become the 2nd tallest in the city. Still obviously super cool to have this legit. skyscraper going up in our town!
  8. Sure is - and did you notice how even the Justice Center doesn’t look all that bad anymore? Like the biggest cities / the less attractive buildings kind of fill in the cityscape but the eyes sort of go to the most prominent- I think we have some of that positive collateral effect with SW. And the taller she gets, the sexier (for me anyway).
  9. My wish list for Playhouse Square in no particular order- - Restaurant with open air doors NY style for summer season (more than one would be ideal) - A jazz club (actually any music club would probably do but live performing musicians essential - a classy live venue to hear jazz would be incredible ) - At least one more residential high rise - Some kind of gift shop- oriented retail - A deli /7-11 or similar - Some kind of rehearsal facility for bands - Any theater/media/music production related business - live newsroom like ABC news in NY where you can watch from the street
  10. Let’s hope that logic leads to Lumen 2
  11. So, its been a little quiet of a week here at UO - thought it might be ok to "nerd out" a little on thoughts about the SW Tower as we see it becoming realized.. It all started when I was taking a long look at @BoomerangCleRes's moody picture of the new skyline. I started thinking that the SW Tower looked a little shorter in comparison to the TT and 200 then I'd imagined (assuming the top of the crane is consistent with the tower's eventual height). - but I realize that feeling is emphasized by the perspective or angle of the photo - with the TT more in the foreground...I think, anyway. Then, I started revisiting some of the much earlier posts in the thread, going back to when the final design was revealed - there were a lot of great renderings/mock-ups to really study the comparative height. Long story, short - I came across @dave2017's rendering focusing on the type of glass that the HQ would have- and I just thought his version of the exterior facade was WAY cool and worth a 2nd look for everyone. And compared to the glass that we're getting, I think that effect really accentuates the building design wonderfully. Not that I'm complaining about the actual glass, which I still think will look really nice. But, his version in the attached rendering was next-level cool. I'm curious if folks are generally delighted with how the glass is coming out.....
  12. A very exciting project for Cleveland In addition to a 23 acre park that will be enjoyed by thousands for decades to come - it should provide wonderful new perspectives of the city that will literally change the way we see downtown. I think it will underscore that Cleveland is also a city with a riverfront, which has sometimes been under appreciated and under utilized. If this doesn’t lead to new residential development adjacent to the park - I’d be very surprised. Great work making this happen CLE!
  13. Kind of a two-for-one pic - Playhouse Square and CC/SW in the background... Happening theater district, pedestrians, new skyscrapers rising - Looks like a major city to me...
  14. Just as long as he doesn't do to Cliffs USS what he did to employees at Twitter....
  15. Yes, we should speculate...
  16. I’m looking forward to the skyline shots of the city this fall on nationally broadcast Browns games - especially later in the season as we clinch our playoff spot - and that new tower starts to reach its peak.
  17. Man, I wish Gilbert was from Cleveland, not Detroit.
  18. So great to see - the core now (and steel shortly) eclipsing the Justice Center and Courthouse Tower - HuGE difference for the Cleveland skyline as this gets completed. (And the water looks pretty chic too!)
  19. And I actually loved hearing “stuck in traffic” - go CLE! Sorry, and thanks @Blimp City
  20. Looking forward to seeing the new lighting for the chandelier that @dave2017mentioned the other day.. (photo from PS Instagram)
  21. Gotta love how the skyline doesn’t just “end” after the old Justice Center - and hopefully, “they” decide the new Justice Center will be a single tower - and we get to add one more 600 footer! Then, of course’s , there’s the Bedrock riverfront….and hopefully, a second SW- related tower to the west of the headquarters.
  22. Wow, impressive - but time moves forward and this is typical of the standard for NFL stadiums in the mid 21st century - like it or not, we’re going to have to keep pace to play with the big boys.
