Cleveland: Ohio City: Bridgeworks Development
Still can’t quite understand how this project didn’t get TMUD $ - if anything meets the definition of a transformative project - it’s Bridgeworks. And Its critical location and relationship to the forthcoming Irishtown Bend Park makes it all the more strategic.

Cleveland: Downtown: Ten60 Bolivar Apartments
Yeah, the name is trying too hard - but - Great to see this project starting - it’s exactly what we need - another attractive new- build option for more residents. Hopefully, the trend of more residents downtown just keeps going…

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Of all the views we’ve seen, @marty15’s shot really shows how this tower will look just about as high as the Terminal Tower from this often shown perspective. Quite an impressive look for the city!

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
Not to go far off topic, but It also shows the relatively large scale of The Beacon. No Nucleus, but Stark did get this excellent contribution done.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Hopefully, SW goes forward with its second shorter tower - they were talking around 300 feet - that would help taper the skyline down more gradually on the west end of downtown. And how ‘bout a new residential high rise on that parking lot just north of SW headquarters?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
As someone said upthread. I also want to study the renderings and presentation further. No one wants to see something finally happen on the lakefront more than me - been waiting a long time - but My concern is that we s should resolve the stadium issue before finalizing any plans. I suppose the land bridge can and should go forward ASAP - but if ultimately, the city and the Haslams can’t reach an agreement - and the stadium moves to the burbs - OR - if, miraculously, the stadium stays downtown but moves to a new location - the lakefront parcel will open up and we can really reimagine the lakefront in a comprehensive fashion. My other concern is that with Edgewater -Irishtown Bend, a new Bedrock riverfront plan including recreational plazas and the new CHEERS -planned east side lakefront - could we actually be overdoing our park spaces in a relatively small region close to downtown? I may be in the minority, but If someone came with a plan to add a whole new residential neighborhood on the downtown lakefront - I’d be thrilled.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
If the conversion of The Erieview Tower happens, I hope they add lighting to the top - it has always seemed underrepresented in our night skyline.

My first reaction was “OMG - the Browns NOT in the city of Cleveland?” But there are plenty of examples of similar outrageness- like the NY Giants (and Jets) in New Jersey. At the end of the day - what is most important - is the money. I think this is strategic gamesmanship on the Haslams part - but if the best deal for the Browns somehow moves the stadium to a suburban location - I’m sure the Haslams would take the deal and shed no tears for the city of Cleveland. But maybe that wonderful development we’ve seen in those fancy renderings north of the land bridge, near the stadium. might be in some jeopardy without the Haslams help. Then again, a stadium in the burbs would officially open the downtown lakefront - and that might be a really fortunate unintended consequence for the city. If one follows the money - the most likely outcome is still a redo at the current location. If they can retain any infrastructure from the current stadium - I’d imagine there’s hundreds of millions to be saved. My wish - a new stadium build on the north eastern end of downtown - that would transform that area - and allow for an entire new downtown lakefront. But sadly, that simply sounds too expensive for Cleveland.

I believe SW is holding that parcel for its own expected expansion or related development - hopefully sooner than later

Looks like the swoop might be well lit - hope so - it would add another interesting nighttime element to the skyline

We just need to get a forum member or two on it! I guarantee that 800,000 sq foot Justice center replacement would be one tall tower.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
I think they're going to look pretty cool. Remember that there's also some new lighting forthcoming, which will extend down to Playhouse Square from Public Square. That should add a brightening, festive dynamic. Just the "feel of things" traveling up Euclid Avenue is much more vibrant than it was, say even 10 years ago, especially with the addition of 3 significant residential towers - Beacon, City Club and Lumen. The new marquees, I'd imagine, will be particularly effective at night. We can debate just how aesthetically pleasing they are to some on the forum - but overall, I find it hard to think that visitors to the area - be they from Northeast Ohio, or from further away - (some internationally) -won't leave feeling that Cleveland has "come a long way". We need more in terms of pedestrians and activity at street level - but that is a dynamic many cities are dealing with post-pandemic.

I have a good friend - who has a friend -who lives at Intro (I know, that’s second hand) but anyway, he reported “poor management” issues at Intro . Not too sure what the specifics are but certainly that’s a concern if true. Why build a great building only to create a negative culture due to poor management. But this is the CC thread - so congrats @GREGinPARMAon your new digs downtown!

If the future of Burke isn’t at least “on the table for discussion” it will be a big disappointment. And if Cleveland Browns stadium’s future isn’t possibly in a new location - I don’t know what all the fuss will be about.

One of my favorite cities , Vancouver - got to spend some quality time up there around 25 years ago - and the apartment towers were already voluminous. I “feel” like there is more demand for downtown living in Cleveland- if new, attractive high rise living becomes available. The success of The Lumen (and I surmise, The Beacon) are anecdotal examples. City Club’s leasing rate will be a harbinger. . Not sure how developers make the calculation as to whether that demand is real enough to drive new construction - and I understand that current economics are more challenging than usual. With the significant cost savings possible to buyers/renters in Cleveland - combined with possible oceanic and skyline views and bigger city amenities (3 major league sport teams, world class orchestra and theatre) I would definitely expect a continuation of downtown’s residential growth. The question might be whether or not there’s enough of a job market to drive the growth to the next level. The city has not made the shift from industrial to technical/21st century economy as quickly as some competitors, like Pittsburgh - but I wonder what UO Forumers thinks about our chances of catching up and being truly competitive in the next decade or two. Meanwhile, I’m rooting hard for the continued growth of the downtown residential trend - a strong urban core will benefit the Greater Cleveland region in general.

Fascinating pic, @Barneyboy - you gotta love Urban Ohio - I mean, here I am googling Ethel Shutta! That pic is probably from 1936, based on the film showing at the State.
