  1. I don’t think it’s COVID anymore - WFH is kind of the one major change that never went away since COVID - but in most every other way, things pretty much feel back to “normal”.
  2. I’ve rarely seen a Greyhound bus that didn’t have plenty of open seats - it’s not like years ago where that was seldom the case. I wonder why Greyhound hasn’t tried to offer newer smaller vehicles that could prove more comfortable for passengers and lower cost for operations. At least on certain routes where data proves it could be done. Meanwhile, let the speculation begin as to what can happen with that unique and pretty classy looking station. Hopefully, the right developer sees some exciting possibilities.
  3. Bring on the rest of Circle Square! University Circle’s rise is one of the great stories going on in Cleveland - and like a number of great, larger American cities, having more than one downtown is a signature.
  4. I wouldn’t be surprised if the details of the land bridge are “murky” to many people (well, at least to me). I’ve seen the proposed renderings associated with the Haslams with the stadium still on the lakefront - but frankly, that land bridge just looks like a big lawn/mall extending down towards the lake with pretty landscaping (and the new modern buildings) I guess there’s sidewalks - but Who would be walking on a grassy mall during 6 months (probably more) of problematic weather per year? If the main idea is to provide a pedestrian path that extends from public square directly to Lake Erie - Maybe if there was also a “NY high-line”-type of structure built to focus pedestrian traffic - it might become an attraction in itself as well as providing a more weather proof means. Obviously this is an infrastructure project to connect downtown to the lakefront but I think the average Joe might not be up on the details yet. is there a definitive video presentation of the current leading proposal that gets into real detail?
  5. Just wondering what the “whispers” are regarding Intro 2 - where are we in terms of that project?
  6. Imagine a big city with a traffic jam - wow
  7. I love this initiative. Adding creative lighting from Public Square to Playhouse Square and north to the mall. I think it will work really well for Cleveland in that we have a lot of beautiful older buildings that will really shine with some lighting - also, as the article quotes, additional light will create a better sense of safety/well-being and hopefully, extend time that people are out and about at street level. Great stuff and a big thank you to Destination Cleveland for funding a big chunk of the 7.5 million dollars it will cost. Excited to see what they come up with.
  8. Honestly, I’m a bit surprised there wasn’t a little more pushback on the expansion design. Greg Soltis had some good critiques, IMO - like how having the new section as a main entrance might leave the original plaza entrance a bit lifeless - and how the "heavy" roof of the addition seems to be pushing Pei’s pyramid into the background - I agree with both concerns. The response regarding the plaza entrance was that it would be an exit and, I guess, still result in a lot of people on the plaza. I saw that@ryanfrazier’s post - the first with news of the approval - had 1 heart, 2 likes, 2 “thank-you’s” and 1 thumbs down 8 hours after his post - not exactly an excited approval from forum members. I got a kick out of the quote from Litt’s column (which had quite a few informative renderings) about how the expansion was supposed to “gently clash” with the HOF - and be both respectful of the original and both reverent and irreverent of it. Sounds a little conflicted to me and that's kind of how I feel looking at the renderings. The original hall has this really cool "lightness" about it and this addition feels "heavy". Maybe the granite will have some more color to it - that was mentioned in the article. I wish I could’ve loved it - and I’m still happy to see an expansion - but I just think it could’ve achieved a better sense of "harmony" with the iconic original. And, then again, maybe it will grow on me - like a song you have to hear a lot before you start liking it.
  9. Meanwhile, from May3, 2023’s construction webcam :
  10. If we actually were to ever get something close to this - with these added new high rises - and, don't forget to add in S-W (and The Beacon & Lumen) - that view is one pretty nice skyline. (Not to mention the glitzy new waterfront buildings and the park-like promenade with no automobiles parked on the lakefront!) Despite its impressiveness, imagine it without a big football stadium and the whole thing opened for development!!!
  11. Awesome to see this connector project gaining momentum - thanks @KJP for being out front on the story and bringing it to us. Of The two illustrations of different land bridges - the first one appears to have so much additional high rise development around it - it’s hard to imagine anything anywhere near to that level of new build - at least in the next generation Just wondering where that rendering originates from. Also, and I guess more importantly - can we learn more about the “proposed high rise development” that would border the land bridge?
  12. SW will have a pretty dramatic impact from almost any angle / but this perspective of the city, courtesy of @Blimp City will be particularly impressive - we’ll be able to see the big 4 all in a row -plus the courthouse tower (and the 9th tallest Justice Center to boot) I think we’re gonna get used to the new skyline with no problem!
  13. Time to rename this thread “The Centennial”?

Grandpa Love should’ve been on the bench - at least he has a ring and a ton of playoff experience. Dean Wade, his “replacement “ played a total of 11 minutes in the series. Man, that was ugly - the Cavs have to get A LOT better - Do you think Bickerstaff is the man for the job? Nice guy - but I have serious doubts after watching the lack of offensive flow, mental toughness and intensity. Cavs got an ass-whoopin’ and just sayin “we’ll, we’re young” ain’t good enough.
  15. How tall was the original tower to be?

You have to say that The Knicks pretty much destroyed the Cavs in games 3 and 4 in NY - the series is over (although I could see the Cavs possibly winning a game 5 in CLE - but I could just as easily see them losing ) How do the Cavs improve in the off season?
  17. So thanks to @chrino21, @Ethanand @MayDay’s posts from the last 24 hours, we’re very clear on where we’re at in SW’s ascent - now just beginning that “middle third” of the core. Already impressive but almost two thirds to go!!

Stephen A was exactly correct. Stage too big on Friday - let’s hope the good guys can tough out a win Sunday ..
  19. Downtown is always my first choice - but a 23 story City Club in University Circle would be perfectly fine with me.
  20. From the City Club construction cam - the lights of 668 really look nice and I guess that the old City Club is somewhat empty these days? And, then there’s that Ohio Bell building that we’d love to see transformed …anyway, thank goodness for the new City Club Apartments energizing this block!
  21. Cool! - but still wish it would’ve been in the city of Cleveland.
