Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Hopefully, they’re planning on building something big at the Nucleus site. And wouldn’t you just love to know what @KJPknows about the “other” developers that have whispered about either mid or high rise buildings on the riverfront!

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I think we’re approaching 48 hours with no new pics - a record!- I’m expecting it will really have grown by the next image. Lol!

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
Actually the purple seems pretty muted in this rendering for the building - there seems to be a navy blue that is just as prominent. It’s going to be fun seeing all those balconies and unusual cut-outs and unusual accents come to life towards the top of the building. I think it’s going to be a fun building that will infuse a real sense of new energy on the Avenue.

Thanks to @Boomerang_Brianfor the update post on the Riverfront meeting above. I was also looking for the meeting itself on YouTube and not seeing it. Dors anyone have a link to the meeting? Or any crib notes? Wondering what kinds of questions and public sentiment was afoot. And if there were any tidbits about specific or possible next steps.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
I know there’s hurdles still ahead - and God only knows what the restaurant design will be - but if they do it right - the effect could be reminiscent of The Boathouse in Central Park - where you essentially have a restaurant in the middle of a park - and, of course, it’s a major tourist attraction. I could care less about The George’s and how they’ll benefit - but it could become a unique Cleveland attraction. And I’m all for that. Plus, this park is going to do wonders for beautifying the vista between downtown and Ohio City - and it can only help potential developers of a few possible new nearby high rise residential buildings. Hopefully

Buildings and food - that’s pretty much what we do here at Urban Ohio.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
I know this is all just hypothetical right now - but I would think that they would have to make sure any lighting would tie in or work with the chandelier.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
One would think so. Speaking of schedule, I wonder if there’s a scheduled date for when it will top out. It won’t be that long before that core rises above the top of 55. Pretty cool stuff!

My only concern is - where’s the next big crane over downtown coming from? I’m gonna be in serious withdrawal mode after CC (and SW, obviously) are completed…

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
And as someone mentioned upthread , I’d love it if we could upgrade the street lighting in Playhouse Square to something complimentary.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
@MayDay sure has been providing some fantastic & artistic SW shots - and the peanut gallery is loving ‘em. The heart of downtown around Public Square will rival the best of almost any major city in the country once this new tower is completed . ( Love the photo from the square - I wish public square was more grass and less concrete - but that’s a minor critique and really for another thread)

It’s awesome news - more residential at Playhouse Square…now, if we can just get somebody to build Lumen 2!

It’s pretty clear that SW didn’t want to eclipse the TT as 2nd tallest building - they made a conscious design choice to have very large floor plates and distribute square footage across very wide floors. This isn’t surprising given the “personality” of the company - a somewhat conservative image they’ve always fostered. Having said that, they did move the design from reports of a corporate bland rectangular exemplar in OKC to a design with a fairly interesting roofline that literally points towards the Terminal Tower’s tip and which will include lighting at the crown. The building design does do a nice job of separating the building’s bulkiness into slimmer sections, IMO. And we’re seeing just how impactful the building set back away from the west side of the square already is and will be. I’m excited to see just how well it “complements” the big 3 and the skyline in general - I think we’re going to feel pretty good about it. Though it’s far from a Supertall - it is still big-city construction. I’m definitely enjoying seeing it rise with the nearly daily updates here on the forum.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I always just felt they should have a viable live concert venue as a part of the Hall - seating for 150 was a joke. The proposed new space for 900 is like a small high school auditorium. I’d like to see something around 2000-3000 where they could really accommodate larger events - and I’d do it in the circular style of the old Front Row Theatre -what a great venue that was!

Cleveland: University Circle: Circle Square
Does anybody know how to add this building in on the Cleveland diagram at skyscraperpage.com?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I’m pretty much with @marty15on this one -we’ve got a truly iconic building - and now they add this thing? It interrupts the design of the main museum and adds nothing architecturally worthwhile. They said this is for the next 14 million fans? A little over inflated self analysis. This is supposed to be the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame - do it iconically or don’t bother. Hope the city design committee feels similarly.

This photo from @MayDaytoday in the SW thread made me think “ the River looks really nice” and “that’s a riverfront begging to be developed” Lets make it happen!

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Maybe a singular coordinated lakefront plan is not the answer -we’ve seen what those plans have produced in the last half century. Yes, have a coordinated vision but allow for private enterprises to begin having opportunities that are “in line” with “the big plan”. To quote the late Great Johnny Cash - build it one piece at a time . Just double down on incentives and less regulated opportunities for development. If we can make the right strategic decisions, that will be a big part of the battle. Key decisions to make IMO- relocate the stadium opening the entire parcel for development and close Burke to open a huge land opportunity. Establish and maintain a pro-growth and a business-friendly culture that will be highly motivated to build. Seek state and federal assistance wherever possible to build key access roads and begin whatever environmental and infrastructural steps are prerequisite- and all the unsexy legal hurdles. And say what you will about the Haslams - at least they tried to create a new vision for the lakefront - A compelling new “vision” like Bedrock presented for the riverfront might be important to create a sense of the long- term potential and possibilities for a new generation that will live into the late 21st century. We all love this town - and I think we mostly agree that a thriving waterfront will be the key to Cleveland reemerging as a key international city in decades to come - most of us won’t be here to see that - but we’ll know if the foundation for future prosperity has been created or if it’s still beyond the scope of our childrens’ lives.

Aw Yeah - my bad @Htsguy- it was late - of course I meant Playhouse - and I forgot about the former Wyndham - I even stayed there once.

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
Let’s see how it actually turns out in reality - who knows, maybe you’ll be pleasantly surprised But I don’t think it’s designed for the conservative in taste.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
That’s a great observation @dave2017I wonder if the City would consider making a change if there was a public push of some kind. Also is there a hotel in or immediately adjacent to Public Square? If not, It sure feels like that would be the perfect place for one - especially a higher end one. Meantime, I think the new marquis’ will add some Broadway-esque glitz to the 2nd largest theater district.

I like this news a lot. Move things forward and don’t let the George’s affect the momentum of this wonderful project!
