Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Thanks @Geowizicalwe love your renderings - I’m assuming the skyline with those hypothetical 500’ buildings takes into account the lower elevation of those buildings, correct?

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
@Ethan’s pics really give a sense of the progress beginning to happen along the riverfront - with pedestrian pathways and access to once unregarded but really interesting vistas. And importantly, a growing awareness and appreciation for what the fully realized riverfront might be like. Cleveland’s natural resources are the key in our potential to transform from an industrial image to a very interesting urban center with unique options and settings to enjoy. it’s already starting to happen with developments on the peninsula and the vision for the Tower City side of the river. You gotta love the sense of possibility that now seems attainable. . Long way to go but more actual progress than we’ve seen in decades. And how many cities have not only a potentially great coastal waterfront and a still developable riverfront directly bordering their downtown? Possibilities are exciting!

Cleveland: Downtown: The Centennial (925 Euclid Redevelopment)
@KJP (or other knowledgeable forumers) what’s the total amount of incentives, grants and TMUD money available to this project? Seems like it’s a potentially record setting amount…

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
I’ve never been inside the bus terminal - so I have no idea about the viability of repurposing but, man, that evening shot (with lights on in Crain’s) really suggests an upscale supper club - dinner theatre vibe - and a really unique and classy one at that. I can picture some classic cars parked outside. I read that Playhouse Square had or has interest in it and it just seems like a natural - to further extend the district’s footprint as a performing arts and entertainment draw. A supper club attraction that could draw both after hours or pre show seems like it could benefit both the theaters and this venue reciprocally. Whether or not the inside of the large space would function well- that could be a different story - but just imagine that Greyhound sign carrying a new entertainment venue brand - the building just looks classic and potentially elegant. Hope whatever eventual reuse happens is as special as the building appears in the photos.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
There’s only so much recreational park space that you can develop near the downtown area and between Edgewater Park, the new Irishtown Bend Park and developments for new recreational areas on the near East side’s lakefront - not to mention possible future developments north of the current Browns stadium - II’m not concerned with a park- type or recreationally oriented riverfront development . I’m just fine with Bedrock’s building- centric and rather dense conceptual presentation. As to who is going to fill all the buildings - let’s remember that this is just a Visionary rendering and chances are, we’ll get only “pieces” of it actually built. I don’t see why a number of fairly tall residential buildings couldn’t eventually locate there. They’d have a dynamic and unique view. Most important- a strategic parcel of long undeveloped land on Cleveland’s “ front porch” now has a possibility of being developed and yielding both significant new buildings and pedestrian friendly plaza areas. Sounds pretty wonderful to me!

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
That sounds like the best case win-win scenario but also like a complicated dance to choreograph - financing and logistical preparation for a new stadium while the land with the existing one is sold and transformed.

Lakewood: Downtown: CASTO Development
I don’t know much about Lakewood but it certainly seems to be a stagnant community, perhaps even underachieving since the halcyon days of the construction of the Gold Coast towers. Perhaps I’m misinformed or unaware of a more positive true narrative. Just giving you the impression of someone who follows development news in Cleveland. I know that Gordon Square and some lakefront development is hopping but the city in general …

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
So I’m wondering - with the news that The Haslams want to buy 25% of the Milwaukee Bucks - what does that tell us about their lakefront hopes/dreams/plans for Cleveland and/or their plans for a new Cleveland football stadium?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Great pics @urbanetics_ and thanks to everyone contributing so many great views - much appreciated for the hardcore (like me) that check for progress everyday! Getting a definite big city vibe around the square already. Feelin' a little extra hometown pride with this project making downtown look better than ever! For those of us that have waited a few decades for this baby - this is a whole lot of fun... and best of all it'll just keep getting more dramatic in the weeks and months to come.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: New Police Headquarters
The renderings looked really nice - I think this is a perfect location for the CPD and it should be a great contributor to that neighborhood. Hopefully, a morale booster for our folks in blue once they’re in new digs. Like that blade sign too!

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
And I hope that not only is the tower repopulated but also lit up decoratively commensurate with the 4th (soon to be 5th) tallest building of the city. It’s always been a dark tower in the night skyline.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Yeah, really cool view! I was trying to visualize the SHW Tower all topped out with the lights on - that's gonna be exciting to move towards in the coming months. But I was also thinking how even cooler that view could be with a Gateway Megaproject Tower added or even some Haslam-plan high rise activity south of the stadium. Just sayin'...... One thing's for sure - SHW will beef up our skyline very noticeably. Can hardly wait....

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
Wow, that’s lookin really great!! And I’d love to see NightTown open again - Cleveland definitely could use a venue that attracts nationally known jazz artists.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Thanks @urbanetics_i especially liked that pic taken from Public Square looking west - man, is that view gonna change! The last photo really underscores how much we need some color infusion. I wonder how blue SW’s coloration will be - or how steel blue? Gonna be interesting to see the exact tone.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
How great would it be if SW decided they needed the cash after an offer from a company that wanted to build a new 25 story hotel on the Jacoba lot? I know…not happening - bring on The Shack

Cleveland: Hotel Development
No, the harmonica is actually the RHOF addition….

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Just a little bigger!

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
Or you could say it’s a big improvement to a long neglected parcel - a big step in the right direction (especially the 1,000 new residents these will bring. )

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
https://www.loveexploring.com/galleries/amp/93399/americas-best-waterfront-cities Cleveland actually makes the list- as the article acknowledges improvements at Edgewater and bike trails and connectivity improving. Could a lakefront promenade elevate our waterfront to really become a major attraction?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Remember back when SW’s plans were not specifically known but we thought the tower would be on the Jacoba lot? @KJPhad written that a one million square foot building on that plot could reach Key Tower height. The change to the larger parcel behind Jacoba lot resulted in the wider 616’ building we all are watching grow up right now. Yea, part of me would’ve loved a 900-1000 footer but the move back off the square and the actual height will result in a more balanced symmetry for the overall skyline, IMO. I also think SW’s design does a really nice job of breaking up the bulk of the tower into slimmer, more appealing sections. I’m also excited to eventually see the redesigned lighting at the crown - that could be very effective. And overall, what an amazing difference this building is going to make downtown.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Yes that’s correct - I hadn’t kept up with that news - and of course, there’s Burke, so….. And though @cadmenis probably right - a Guitar Hotel might be a short fad if built in Cleveland - but I still hope someday we can capitalize even more on the tourism potential of the rock hall. Also , here’s hoping that within the not -too -distant future our downtown lakefront real estate yields a shiny vertical hotel and a lot more exciting development. Hard to imagine at this moment - but the lake isn’t going anywhere - green light!
-
Cleveland: Hotel Development
Just fantasizing on a slow news day at Urban Ohio - lately, The Guitar Hotel in Florida has been doing a lot of TV commercials. Would the Hard Rock ever consider building a Guitar Hotel adjacent to the Rock Hall? The hall and Science Center would benefit from another attraction on the lakefront and the iconic hotel would be a natural for the rock n roll capital . I don’t think the Browns would hate it either! I know the Hard Rock is, according to their own PR, “focused on their operation in Northfield” but a national attraction a few miles away wouldn’t hurt. Is downtown already saturated with existing hotels and the possible additions we’ve heard about or is there room for a tourist attraction Hotel? I know it’s just a wild-eyed idea, but how cool would it be to have a 450 foot guitar on the lakefront?

Cleveland: Downtown: Progressive Field
I’m consistently impressed by the Guardians’ ownership in general. Progressive Field provides a wonderful gateway/welcome to the city especially when compared to what was there previously. The renovations have been pretty forward-looking and arguably necessary to maintain interest for a changing demographic in a city that has lost significant population and where dollars are finite for entertainment. As @cadmen stated upthread,, the experience of taking in a game in the heart of the city with the skyline visible just beyond the park is really perfect. (If we create something similar eventually for the Browns, It would be amazing!) I also agree that the key thing for the vitality of the area in general is the development of a family friendly ballpark village next to Progressive. Less importantly, it would sure be wonderful to see a new tower anywhere beyond the outfield! Meanwhile, here’s to another Guardians pennant run for 23….

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Stefanski has just not built a new culture of accountability for the Browns. The team had bad losses, lacked discipline, committed too many penalties and didn’t perform up to reasonable expectations given the talent it had. Especially on offense considering that it had arguably the best running tandem in the league. (You couldn’t ask for much better than Brissett gave you for 11 weeks.). The defense was problematic at best and Joe Woods is on the hot seat but the head coach also has to take accountability. Another concern is that even Watson has not impressed as his six playing weeks have gone by. Is Stefanski a big part of the problem? I’m sure the Haslams bring him back but I’d make a change. I really hope I’m wrong and that Stefanski turns the team into a legitimate Super Bowl contender next year. Next year simply cannot be another wasted year. This team is supposed to be built for now. But the clock is ticking and the Browns are still last in their division. For me, the head coach is on the hot seat.

Cleveland: Random Visualizations & Massings
@Geowizicalthink a lot of us were revisiting your excellent rendering reposted by @Oldmanladylucktoday - don’t know if you’d mind a request here - if you could ever tweak that angle from your rendering to also show the Erieview Tower, Lumen, Beacon and City Club (and maybe the Rhodes Tower) added to that general view - it would be supercool and very much appreciated!
