  1. Any good estimates on when we see the first steel beams rising out of the ground?
  2. Surprise surprise for someone on this forum to say it (ha!) but I was hoping for some kind of a vertical statement from all this Cleveland Clinic development. With the Pathogen Center, seems like we could’ve gotten a much taller singular tower out of the deal - not that it’s all about towers - but I was kind of hoping for something statement- making reflecting the world famous prestige of the Clinic. And it’s not like CC doesn’t have the money to make it happen I would think. Of course, I’m sure they’re investing in the real purpose - state of the art medical infrastructure. But these are just the true confessions of a guy who’s first fascination with a building was the Terminal Tower. I’m still that excited kid when it comes to any new tall building in Cleveland!
  3. I knew the best way to guarantee a batting explosion was to post that we wouldn’t hit this year - I just didn’t expect 17 runs worth of hat eating today. Hope you guys appreciate me!
  4. And I think the new SW tower will perfectly fill the gap just to the right of the Hilton from that perspective- should look impressive.
  5. As always, thanks @KJPfor being way out ahead of any other media on this story and the great writing . If Bedrock’s plans are really on the scale of the 4th graphic in today’s (April 10) NEOtrans article, seems like this project could be Cleveland’s version of HUDson Yards - a completely transformative, bigger-than anything else in city history project. To imagine that scale of brand new development along the riverfront all being built is actually challenging - I guess I’m cautiously watching developments like everyone else to see the actual specifics and timelines - but, wow what an exciting time for the city if that vision - or a lot of it - is becoming reality. Presuming that the 1st graphic represents the first structure to be developed - with its sheer bulk, it seem to really block the view of the former SW HQ from the western perspective - and if redeveloped into residential, that buildings riverfront and western views. . So my main critique, similar, I think, to@ExPatClevGuya bit earlier in this thread, would be a less bulkish design of the new riverfront tower to something leaner, emphasizing the vertical - or subdivided into two or even three mid rises with open spaces between them to allow for flow through to Huron Road and the old SW building, which certainly provides a stately presence of some importance. That would create both a new riverfront vista and a sense of depth on downtown’s western flank. . I’ll look forward to more news from @KJPand feedback from forum members on this exciting developing story!
  6. Get ready for a long frustrating baseball season, I’m afraid, Guardians fans - looks like we’ll have some excellent pitching but very very little hitting.
  7. I’d love a podcast with all the latest developments and hot rumors!
  8. @KJPchanneling his inner Agatha Christie - gotta love it - nothing better than a good mystery. Especially one with a spectacular ending - here’s hoping we get a really BIG finish!
  9. I think the host was bested by the logic of his guest, DJ Jefferson - the idea that the Bills players would prefer to play outside in terrible December conditions is laughable.
  10. Many of you are probably aware already- but I just received my March 28 hard copy issue of Crain’s today - great article on the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse having its busiest month since 2019 in March. They had 35 ticketed games and events in 31 days - compared to 16 events there last year. That included 10 Cavs games, 7 MAC Men’s basketball tournament games, 7 Monsters games, 3 major concert events (New Edition, Eagles & Tool), The Cleveland bridal show, WWE Monday Night Raw and the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards. The MAC tournament alone generated around 14.5 million dollars in economic impact with many attendees from outside northeast Ohio. Seems like literally yesterday there was the debate about whether The Q needed a renovation - and soon after, we were seeing images of it frequently here on UO. I’m very gratified to see that the venue is doing so well and drawing so many people to downtown for a wide variety of great events. Frankly, it’s a little scary to think what that part of town would feel like without the big league presence of the Cavs and the various exciting events that are being held there regularly. RMFH is one investment that Clevelanders can really be proud of, in my humble opinion.
  11. I like the look of the seven story complex. The 3 story townhouses (I guess that’s what they are) - yikes!
  12. I think a lot of us are confused. Rereading the last NEO TRANS article, it was pretty clear that the project had recalculated costs, downsized to the extent they thought they would need and planned to move forward rather promptly. Now, it appears that they miscalculated potential costs. I mean, inflation has been a problem for months and things couldn't have changed that much in three weeks - could they? Today we got a Neo Trans bomb without warning - just not a good one. Hopefully, the story is still being written - but I'm certainly not optimistic based on today's thread on the subject.
  13. The PD Ray Davis said on air when they made Geraldo’s departure announcement that they hadn’t decided what the replacement show would be. How about Nick Camino? I know he’s at channel 3 but maybe he could swing the 1 hour morning show on WTAM too.
  14. I’m thrilled with the success and prestige of the Cleveland Clinic - they are one of those names that helps really define the greatness of Cleveland. I’m also stoked about this larger-than SW building, for sure. I do, however find the initial rendering of the building somewhat underwhelming. To me, there’s a bit of a cold, clinical (ok, bad word to use in this context but hopefully you get my point) look in the image on NEOTRANS. I do like the greenery as depicted and the pavillion - like roof. I don’t know - Maybe I was hoping for something too iconic for this project… I know it’s just an early rendering and no sense to react definitively anyway - but I’m just curious. What do forum members make of it at this early juncture? My impression could be off from what the majority are thinking - but I’m just catching a vibe that there’s not a lot of excitement being generated by it. Again, just curious- hoping some forum members will comment on their reactions to the design. My opinion can be swayed on this!
  15. They still have the UFO show on late at night - and “reruns” of the Art Bell Show.
  16. Interesting that Geraldo will end his 4 year run on WTAM due to increased responsibility with Fox. His last show is Friday, April 1. I liked his adoption of Cleveland as a home town (principally due to his marriage to Local resident Erica Levy) and the raised profile of Cleveland with his frequent appearances on Fox with the Cleveland skyline behind him. Hopefully, some of that will still happen when he’s in town. Like him or not (and I do) his career resume is undeniable and he raised WTAM’s national profile during his tenure. It should be interesting to see what Ray Davis comes up with to replace him in the AM slot. I’m also curious to know what the reaction around town has been to Triv’s replacement , “Bloomdaddy”. A lot of changes at 1100.
  17. Is Bridgeworks on the April 1 LC agenda?
  18. A couple related thoughts based on @Agreene’s shots- The strategic importance of Ohio City as it relates to downtown couldn’t be more obvious. As downtown booms - places like Ohio City are beneficiaries and in turn, are helping bring new vitality to the city center. Second, just enjoying in that Intro view how the skyline is cohesive all the way down to CSU - mostly thanks to The Lumen (come on Lumen 2!)

Love this team and love the future with it - but the Allen injury may have been too much to overcome - we’re 6-10 since the all-star break and in the play-in tournament right now. If we get Jarrett back for the playoffs, we can still be a very tough out but Philly, Boston, Milwaukee and a healthy Nets team are all a cut above right now.
  20. I visited skyscraperpage.com today and noticed that City Club has not yet made it to the Cleveland diagram - looking forward to it joining the lineup there - and thanks in advance to the person that makes that happen.
  21. We’d need a zoning height limit adjustment to best the 25 story Ascent in Milwaukee - which I’m fine with supporting!
  22. Could there be a move from Lakewood? Awesome photos by @NorthShore647- University Circle really taking on a world-class look.
  23. Awesome to hear that the leasing results at Intro have been so hot! Add in a 15 story Intro 2 and you’ve got a very impressive block extending to the West Side Market and anchoring Ohio City. And I’m certain that other investors watching the market in Ohio City are going to be taking note - we may see even more new projects developing in the area in the near future as the area continues to have big momentum. Can’t wait to see the official rendering for an Intro 2!

I would actually not be surprised if Baker does have a lot of success with another team - I think he’s going to have a rebound in his career if he’s fully healthy and can stay that way. I think the Browns could’ve been a contender in the AFC with him - but I don’t know if he would’ve been able to get us all the way to the Super Bowl. We’ll never know… As for giving up my life long love for the Cleveland Browns because of any one man - I’ll be completely honest - my heart can’t do it. As to the Watson allegations- admittedly, anyone would be disgusted by a man that would sexually assault a woman. The truth is that we don’t really know the details of what actually led to the alleged misconduct. . It’s my understanding that the complaints all concern behaviors occurring during massage appointments over a one year period. A Texas grand jury declined any criminal charges. But I’m not here to defend Watson. I have a great conflict of emotions about all of this. But the point I wanted to make was is that I’ve always rooted most for the name “Cleveland” on the uniform - not the individual players. There’ve been certain guys I’ve become fans of - but if they wound up on another team - I rooted against them if they later played against a Cleveland team. In my heart, I won’t be able to just stop rooting for the Cleveland football team - because of the city it represents - not the athletes who happen to wear our jersey. There have been other men that I may not have liked as human beings who have played for Cleveland - or owned teams here - but I’ve always felt a personal loyalty to those teams that represent the great city of Cleveland. Probably always will.

Very good that there are TWO very interested teams.
