Cleveland: Random Development and News
I think these “City within a city” projects will prosper as we go further into the 21st century - particularly in larger markets where commuting is even more of a difficulty than it is in Cleveland, but here as well. The conveniences offered by such self-contained live/work buildings will surely appeal to a busy professional who loves the idea of saving an hour or two of commuting time every day - especially in a post pandemic society. It will be great to see residents and new energy in the Ohio Bell tower.

What is the status of the rock hall expansion? I recall a lot of pushback on the design reveal here on the forum. Was that design just at the proposal stage?

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Thanks @simplythisfor sharing the riverfront development piece. It’s an exciting time for development in Cleveland. The SW HQ Tower will be the obvious symbol of a city on the rise again over the next couple years. But the projects in development along Cleveland’s riverfront may be the most transformational to the quality of life and growth potential of the city’s future. I love that a new generation of forward thinkers are envisioning the possibilities of living working and playing in the city’s most unique and characteristic setting. Just the forthcoming Irishtown Bend Park will be a game changer.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I have to agree. Look, I hear the rationalizations that “it will produce some revenue” and/or “we could really use the parking for the games” but…. This is the front door to the city from its sexiest vantage point. There’s a “perception becomes reality” lack of appreciation for the aesthetic importance and image created by that lakefront -( which will hopefully be seen on national tv many times in the next few seasons with the Browns.). I’d be willing to forego the revenue or whatever convenience for the look of folks strolling along a boardwalk with the city’s towers rising in the background. And I don’t think you have to wait to have the whole billion dollar lakefront plan done to move forward with a portion. But the culture of the city has not fully respected the lakefront’s strategic importance since - well, a long long time. Once a parking lot is established there it might be trickier to lose it than you think. Think of what could be available for the average citizen of the city to access any day of the year - and it could look great and be another part of the attraction of living in a beautiful waterfront downtown. I think we need a kind of Paradigm Shift towards being guardians of our lakefront.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
It's time to start holding the Cavs accountable for their performance. In four years after LeBron left the first time, the Cavs won a total of 97 games. Since he's left the second time, they've won 60 in three years. I greatly appreciate that we won a championship in 2016, but at what point do we at least become playoff capable again? 21-22 has to be the year management produces a team that is competitive and committed to making the playoffs. It's great having a beautiful new version of RMFH, but the team has to step up.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I absolutely hate the idea of parking on the lakefront, even temporarily. It's a bad look. Would it have been that difficult or prohibitively expensive to create an open green space with a boardwalk and some basic landscaping? That would've been a better "temporary" use of the precious lakefront and door step to the city while we wait for whatever big development is going to come along, hopefully in my lifetime.

Cleveland: University Circle: Circle Square
Thank you to the always great @KJPfor an uplifting and exciting update on University Circle construction. As University Circle flourishes, Cleveland, as a whole benefits, particularly downtown. Like superstar players on the same team, there’s a sense of one “downtown” lending gravitas to the other. UC has the urban sophistication to match any city in the country, perhaps even international comparisons apply. It’s gratifying to see its skyline beginning to reflect its strategic importance. I’m really looking forward to seeing The Artisan, in particular, rise to become the new star at University Circle- it’s going to be a beautiful tower. But the news that it will have new, high profile neighbors shortly - and that its reign as tallest may be brief - is both exciting and logical. After all, who wouldn’t want to live or work in the region ?

Cleveland: Random Visualizations & Massings
Probably most of you have seen it - but for anyone who has not, there’s a great view of downtown looking southeast, on the homepage of www.Clevelandskyscrapers.com. That particular shot gives a much more modern perspective of the city and will be further enhanced by the SW tower. The big wild card out there still is whether Nucleus returns, possibly in a single, mixed use tower, with some of the swag and height of the original proposal If that ever materialized, Cleveland could rather quickly get that additional 5 or 600 footer we crave and that could move the needle to Cleveland clearly having the most impressive skyline among the big 3 Ohio cities. But, of course, that’s still just my wishful thinking. @Geowizical, one thing’s for sure- we forum readers absolutely love your visualizations - extremely entertaining! Thanks again.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
@dave2017's renderings, especially the twilight version, are probably the best thus far in highlighting just how nicely the new tower will fit into and complement the skyline. The difference in the density, variation and feeling of urbanity downtown will be substantial. To me, the PC designers were quite successful in evolving what could've been a bland bulky glass box into something reasonably elegant, immediately recognizable and having a feeling of upward motion. It's going to be a lot of fun to see how the new skyline looks from every possible angle - both by day and by night - as this 4th tallest tower in the city rises over the next couple years. I think the building will make a big statement to residents and visitors to the city about the growth and energy in Cleveland's downtown district. I'm hoping that the CFE/pavillion on the Jacobs lot winds up with a higher profile and a rooftop restaurant/bar on top, possibly with a roof that opens for summer weather. That would bring the "public" to public square even more effectively than a paint museum! Thanks to @dave2017, @KJPand any and all forum contributors that are giving us insight into this important project.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
I’ll miss the Indians name- hey, I grew up rooting for the team with the name - but The Cleveland part of the name is still and will always be the best part. I liked the video with Tom Hanks and the concept that we are all guardians of a great city again on the rise. I also like that you can still “see” Indians and the connection to the past in the last 5 letters of “Guardians” The logo doesn’t look iconic and needs a reworking, IMO. The real problem is if the Dolans continue to let championship caliber players leave the team, the best we can hope for is another long term rebuild so that we can get to the next 2-3 year window of being a legitimate championship contender. Currently, It’s not easy watching the team fighting to stave off the Motor City Kitties. Here’s to having pro baseball in Cleveland for another century!

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
The tower is definitely bulky - had the same square footage been placed on the Jacobs lot the height of the tower would’ve eclipsed the Terminal Tower or perhaps rivaled Key Tower. But I think the design team did an excellent job of breaking up the bulk of the tower visually into what looks like four more slender, joined towers. The angled roof lines accent that feeling. I also think the angled roof lines are very contemporary looking and effectively compliment the classic spires of Key and TT. When you consider the glass cereal box early massing that SW began with, the new tower will end up bringing a very distinctive signature and much needed presence to the Cleveland skyline - one that will reflect this moment in history much as the TT evokes its time.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
We’re filling the parking lot with a big city tower with a very distinct profile and signature roofline. And it’s climbed a little closer to the height of 200 PS. A very good compliment to the Big 3 - can’t wait to see steel rising! @KJPand @Geowizicalhad it amazingly close - great work! Congrats Cleveland.

Nice!!!! Thanks @Geowizical! Even having the SW and City Club cranes in the air at the same time will be a good look for the city!

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I love the idea of a 26 story residential tower next to the Wendy Bridge - That’s a really cool looking Tower as rendered and i happen to believe there’s an untapped market for high rise living with views of the lake, the river and downtown. Make it so!

- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Let's see, originating as a glass box-like tower, but with some interesting, defining contours/lines, a slightly sloped roof, but more than one roof line, and a bit over six hundred feet (I know, more than a bit - more like 70 feet in this case). This "fantasy" rendering of "One Lakeview" would check all the boxes and look real sweet in our skyline, IMO. Maybe SW just needed to check the skyscraper page like @ExPatClevGuydid upthread, rather than pay big bucks to PC! Anyway, we won't be speculating or dreaming too much longer about exactly what it'll look like.- Cleveland: Ohio City: INTRO (Market Square / Harbor Bay Development)
The West side Market couldn’t have picked a better neighbor!- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I actually think the "big 4" will have a better balance and symmetry with SW's tower pushed back off the square, now that I've stared more intently at the graphics from @KJPand @Geowizical(Thanks, gentleman - as always.) One gets a feeling of the square now being more expansive and the shadow study shows how it will feel more open and sunny. From ground level, the eye is drawn to the tower over and beyond the pavilion when looking across the square towards the tower. I was initially disappointed, like many, with the strategic location of the Center for Excellence - but I'm getting used to it in these newest graphics because of the tower's commanding presence and the apparent similarity in glass/color of the CFE. There is a sort of 200 Public Square Atrium like effect that will now be reflected in this project. Though I would've loved the tower being just a bit less bulky and a bit higher to rival the Terminal Tower (being honest) the roof line makes a big difference in giving the tower an interesting and unique signature. The lighting possibilities are really cool. I also like the effect created by the cut-ins on each side of the tower, which give it further interest. Finally, the different distance perspectives really show how the downtown skyline will have a significantly denser, more fully-realized feeling due to the height and placement of this new tower. The possibility that they have shovels in the ground before the year ends is exciting.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Great to now have the official confirmation that Cleveland will add a 600 foot tower to the skyline. That will be a huge change in the look of the skyline. This single addition will really be symbolically and aesthetically powerful for the city. Now we just have to see the actual execution of detail in the structure - hopefully it will be one of those projects that, in person, is even more impactful than expected based on the early massings. Also great to know that the city design commission has been working cooperatively with SW already and that we should not expect a drawn out design approval process. Watching this baby rise is going to feel real good!- Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Gotta love John Catanese’s quote in the article “We’d love to stay in Cleveland and we’d love to help recreate the city. If our property works best as residential or boat docks, we’re all for it.” The Flats has amazing potential to become the next boom area and tie together the development to the west and longer term visions along the shore. I think the possibilities there are really becoming apparent to developers now.- Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
It feels like the new connecting bridges and trails are literally changing the way Clevelanders are being drawn to and moving in and around cool sections of the city that were under appreciated not long ago - especially those around the river. It also seems like we’re seeing our city with new appreciation for its unique landscapes and possibilities.- Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
Perhaps I have the wrong impression, but wouldn’t the Justice Center be a dead zone on evenings and weekends? Especially If so, I think it would be a mistake to have it as part of the lakefront plan. But I would’ve never put the stadium on the lakefront either.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Although the basic shape and style of the HQ Tower are consistent with the previous reporting from NEOTrans, the news is still “best-case” - we’ve picked up about 100 feet in height and the sloped roof really interacts beautifully with Key, TT and 200. Now instead of a Big 3 plus a “nice” 500 footer - I feel the massings show us a worthy 4th tower that creates a beautiful balance around PS and that much needed western presence in the skyline. It’ll be fascinating to see the details - color, lighting, just how boxy the tower is and how subtle or effective the sloped roofline is, etc. Considering where the reporting was on this HQ when we were last updated, today’s news is definitely a victory. The skyline is about to add our 4th tallest building and it should be a source of pride for this city. - Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
