  1. A new Jonesdronescle pic provides a more impressive perspective…
  2. Sorry @X! I've got to check that thread out - so much to discover on UrbanOhio!
  3. Perhaps a bit of a stretch to post this- but in "random news" - an article from ConsumerAffairs.com was published today (Jan 2, 2024) (to my surprise) indicating that Cleveland is among the 25 most dangerous cities in America for driving - based on its rank as the 11th worst in the country for drivers speeding. There's something for the mayor to work on.
  4. Fortunately we’ve got the culmination of some transformative projects to look forward to over the next number of months - just think SW all lit up for 24’s holiday season - City Club’s opening - and Irishtown Bend will make huge strides towards its unveiling -to name a few - and maybe we’ll get an unexpected “bomb” or two along the way.

Great night in CLE - gotta love seeing our fan base embrace this resilient team with a national tv audience watching - and with Joe Flacco leading the offense! Great feel- good story. Congrats Browns on reaching the playoffs. Great job Cleveland fans!
  7. Wonderful article - great to see Cleveland’s successes documented for a national readership in The Post - and Public Square getting some love. The Article did opine that “the one mistake Cleveland has made is still catering to some traffic in the square as the bus routes cut it in half. The road is unpopular and should be shut down.” Mayor Bibb’s support for the police and safety as his primary issue also noted.
  8. Amazing pics (as usual) today from @MayDay with some really interesting perspectives - a couple thoughts on them - - A number show how well placed HQ2 is to fill the gap between HQ1 and Stokes - A couple show the sheer bulk of HQ1 it could have almost been two smaller floorplate 600 footers or one Supertall. - Scranton Peninsula development looks fantastic - Love the top slope of City Club, which itself adds some nice density to the cityscape. - The pics show the potential for amazing future development along the River And with all the positive changes happening (and so much sunshine in December) - How can you not feel optimistic about this city?
  9. Great share, @ArtMasterCLE-And for those who can’t log into Facebook - a couple of gems from Lance Aerials’ page… SW has Downtown looking much more big city!
  10. Lovin how the blue highlights of City Club add to the streetscape. Yes, Cleveland can be colorful!
  11. A company like that really needs a 600 foot (or taller) tower in downtown Cleveland.
  12. Again, Courtesy of JonesDronesCle on Instagram- too good not to share! and the lights aren’t even all the way to the top of the current steel ….
  13. But will we even bother to try and learn from innovation and success stories in Europe? Unfortunately I am highly skeptical. My other fear is that Cleveland won’t learn from its own last stadium building episode. We hurried to build a new Browns stadium that was ultimately, seriously flawed and now requires replacement in just 25 years from its construction. The decision on whether or not we’re going to build yet another one on our precious lakefront apparently won’t even be decided upon by Cleveland’s citizenry. Watch @MyPhoneDead’s video - to the end - to be reminded of possibilities- and the power of sports infrastructure to connect people in a city and to produce multiple events - not just football - that can bring hundreds of millions of dollars to a city.
  14. Can we change the name of this thread to “Gateway Parking Lot project”? It would actually be more accurate.
  15. Another beauty shot from Jonesdronescle on Instagram showing the scale of the new SW HQ1
  16. What a Christmas present for Cleveland it would be if Cliffs can close the deal. Wow.
  17. Love this sunrise shot from JonesdroneCle on Instagram with SW getting close to its signature roofline
  18. In town at Fat Cats in Tremont tonight - took in the nighttime view of SW and the new skyline from there- yes- thankful for SW in our city!
  19. Also from Jonesdronescle - they’ve got great pics and videos on Instagram Now we’re really starting to see the new skyline!
  20. Cmon Cleveland - we can do better than this. (Photo by Chris Ronayne and highlighted by @KJP)
  21. Based on @ASPhotoman’s graphic, SW is now officially the 4th tallest building in Cleveland - with steel having reached 533’ - Erieview, long the 4th tallest, 529’ high - now our 5th tallest. Congratulations SW and Cleveland.
  22. About a year or two from now, as this park opens and projects like SW, City Club are open and lit up at night, I think visitors to Cleveland will be very surprised at how the city has changed - for the better!
  23. I agree and think that a reimagining of the buildings exterior with modern windows - lots of glass - would do wonders for the JC. I’m not in favor of tearing down skyscrapers just because we don’t like the style anymore - or ever did for that matter. Two of Baltimores tallest - including the tallest 530 ‘ Transamerica Building - remind me - at least somewhat - of the JC. I wonder if it would be possible to “soften” the building’s look by creating slightly circular corners - the Baltimore example below…
  24. Funny, I was actually wondering about a triangular shape myself - but you made it happen @chrino21- if SW is lurking in this forum they may be very interested in your suggestion (at least I’d like to believe that) It would open up views towards the west. For me, really no need to play to the warehouse district - let the glass rise boldly - although some variation/accents in materials or color might be very effective - Cleveland 2025 and beyond!
  25. Speculative, just for fun - thinking about SW HQ2 and admittedly, a little fantasizing - I wonder if SW would ever consider building their 2nd tower just a little thinner, and just a little higher than the 300 foot level we've seen in the massing. A thinner profile might allow more of their workers on the west side of HQ 1 to be able to something of the view beyond it - as opposed to a very bulky, large floorplate building. And even a building of 367 feet, like the Bklyn Air building in Brooklyn, would appear quite imposing vertically and, be a very stylish addition to the downtown skyline.
