Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
All in favor of anything that gets it up and running earlier. Would be great to ride it to work on a day like today...

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
I love Frontier! And their talking animals...priceless. Also I think this is the right place to add that I had a great experience flying into the C L E on Delta. All kinds of free programing to watch (flight tracker!) clean new planes and very courteous service. New planes? On Delta? Don't they have the oldest fleet of all the mainline carriers? Confirmed: http://www.ibtimes.com/worlds-15-oldest-airline-fleets-how-do-us-based-airlines-rank-1475194 Also, remind me never to fly Allegiant... If you look closely, American is not on the list because its market cap was too small when they did the chart (according to the text of the article). But their average is 16.6 years, which looks like it would put it just past Delta in terms of the age.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2014/04/25/phase-2-of-the-banks-ready-for-construction.html It's Monday.

Columbus: Easton Developments and News
^^ REI is awesome. Recreational Equipment, Inc. It's an outdoor equipment place. There's one in Cincy already. It's great.

Cincinnati: Uptown: UC Athletic Facilities
Wow. That's the size of Cintas Center (actually a little smaller). To me, the issues with the Shoe relate to things like lack of concourses, etc. If they can remedy some of that via this cutting seats, I guess it makes sense.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I am not familiar with Public Square, but if the video board at Fountain Square in Cincy is any indication, it's a good idea. I was skeptical at first, but since then, it's really something that gets people engaged. Lots of people hang out on the square and watch Reds and Bengals games. Heck, in the winter, they even live broadcast broomball games (with amateur commentary) that they do on weeknights on the ice rink. Having those kinds of things has made FS more like a living room (and I think helped it get a lot of use).

Cincinnati: Oakley: Oakley Station
Well, they've already been pretty clear that they are not going to Evendale, so their real estate holdings on I-75 don't seem to be that relevant. Unless they have real estate holdings on I-75 near Mason and that is what you are meaning, in which case disregard this comment.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Heritage Bank Center
Not on the list. They are doing both Columbus and Indy. That's another thing--when you have as many accessible places as we have here, you're not going to get everyone logistically anyway. Springsteen's current tour is a good example (it was a great show last night BTW). He's coming to Cincinnati, Columbus, and Pittsburgh. No Indy, no Louisville, no Cleveland, heck no Chicago or Detroit on the current schedule (which runs through May). I think there's a lot that goes into deciding where to go. Would we get more shows if we had a nicer arena? Sure. But even if the arena was just as nice as whatever is in Louisville or C-Bus, big acts just aren't going to play every single place.

The Eagles played US Bank last month, and have played it in the past.

CINCINNATI Photo Tour (March 2014), Part 1: Downtown
^No problem. I think everything you've said there is correct. At this point it's had bank signage for so long it would be odd to see anything else up there.

Ohio Transit Funding
^Got it. (I was actually hoping that ButCo had passed something in the interim but I didn't think they had. :( ) Have fun at the panel.

Ohio Transit Funding
^Did Butler county get a dedicated funding source for transit? Because it's the first red county on the list above.

CINCINNATI Photo Tour (March 2014), Part 1: Downtown
^I can't believe I'm about to do this, but it's the internet, so why not. The one Brutus Buckeye calls the PNC Tower (located at 201 East Fifth Street) is actually called PNC CENTER. http://www.emporis.com/building/pnccenter-cincinnati-oh-usa The one from 1913 is known as 4th and Vine Tower, but it is also known as the PNC Tower. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PNC_Tower In fact, its page on Emporis lists it as the PNC Tower. http://www.emporis.com/building/pnctower-cincinnati-oh-usa Colloquially, I can say that I don't think I've ever heard the 4th and Vine tower called the 4th and Vine tower. It's generally called the PNC Tower, or especially by older folks, the Central Trust Tower.

Didn't realize they were about to lay track in Central Parkway. Now there will be rails above and below....

CINCINNATI Photo Tour (March 2014), Part 1: Downtown
Good pictures. You managed to get the University Club and Christ Church Cathedral in there, too. (And probably Paula's, though I didn't look that closely.) I spend way too much time on 4th street because I work here, but for me it's the most urban feeling street in the city (and maybe in the state). Lots of big buildings, right on top of you, and you don't have the sort of open vistas you can see from Fifth Street.

I am sure that article is a joke. It is April Fool's Day.

Cincinnati: Historic Preservation
I got to tour the restored Rauh house yesterday in Woodlawn (a stone's throw from Wyoming). Beautifully restored, and a very interesting mid-century modern residence. Though not at all to my taste, I could appreciate it. Really a great job all around (including especially by our own jjakucyk).

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
One thing that gets me, at least on Twitter, is the number of gentrification critics who live nowhere near the urban core. It's easy to call someone a gentrifier and lament alleged displacement when you are sitting in a house on the 275 loop.

Liberty Township: Liberty Center
So -- back on topic. Has construction started here? Does anyone know what the timeline is for the project? I would assume since it is greenfield construction it should happen at a fairly brisk pace?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
My post telling someone that if they have an issue with posts they should click the report button was deleted? I guess it was off-topic.... Anyway, there was a big crowd yesterday at a lot of the Banks establishments for March Madness. I think that we will see everything pick back up down there as soon as baseball season arrives. I have been jogging down in the Riverfront Park/Mehring Way area recently, and there's a surprisingly consistent stream of people out and about, even fairly late in the evening. I think the project will just continue to gain momentum as each new piece begins.

Most of them have a limit--I can't recall what it is in my HOA. I am with Jake on the idea of buying a place on the hillsides. I think you could totally find some good places to rehab north of liberty, too. Honestly, if you are looking for bang for your buck (i.e., making real money) on buying something south of liberty, you are probably two years too late. You can definitely still find places to live and live in an awesome neighborhood, but you are paying the premium that people a few years ago didn't have to pay as early adopters.

^I get that concern, but I don't think I would worry about it too much. There is now a lot of skin in the game in OTR, and it's a far different investment than what we saw in the late 1990s. As for opponents (regardless of where they are from), IMO eventually it will be like Mt. Adams or Fountain Square--they will forget that it was ever anything less than nice, or that they were ever opposed to investing in it.
