Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
Man, it's a weird feeling right now--7-4 and first place by 2.5 games going into the bye, but the bad taste of the two OT losses and serious doubts about Dalton don't have me feeling great.

Sycamore Township: Kenwood Collection
It's definitely in Sycamore Township. Wouldn't that be what controls the zoning then?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Ingalls Building
The pace of residential construction downtown right now is terrific.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
The Big Ten has actually been pretty good in the BCS--very close to .500--and OSU has 5 BCS wins, which is a lot.

Looks like it is going to be an AC Hotel, the first of its kind in the US: http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2013/11/18/ac-hotel-by-marriott-coming-to-former.html

No matter what, you will have a team from the AAC playing in the BCS this year.

^That's not how it works. They don't "take away" a bid from the American (or the ACC or Big Ten or whoever). If they are ranked higher than the lowest-ranked automatic bid winner, then the non-AQ team automatically gets one of the at-large spots. So if it were to end with, say UCF winning the AAC and ranked behind Fresno State, you'd have the following BCS bids: SEC Winner ACC Winner Big 10 Winner Pac 12 Winner Big XII Winner AAC Winner Fresno State and 3 at-large selections to round out the ten spots.

^What do you think the best use for it is at this point, Sherman? Maybe more office space or even residential?

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
Wow. Those infill condos in Mariemont are really nice!

Glad to see this is going forward.

^kjbrill, I think that there is still a Macy's Furniture Store in the lower level of Sycamore Plaza (though I haven't been there recently enough to offer confirmation). Obviously the upper levels, in addition to the Barnes and Noble, have a Dick's Sporting Goods, Men's Wearhouse, etc.

Movie theater! I want a movie theater downtown! Is that so wrong? :)

Mulberry Street - Rehab in OTR
Thanks, Michael. Holly (and Stacy) sold me my condo down on Vine Street. I've talked with her about the Mulberry property a little bit.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Heritage Bank Center
And the size is not that far apart; Cintas seats 10,250 while Shoemaker seats 13,200. If you completed the bowl at Cintas (its currently like a horseshoe) I imagine it would be around 12,000 or 12,500.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Heritage Bank Center
I gotta believe UC could build an arena on campus for less than $225 million. Cintas Center at XU was completed in 2000 for $50 million. If you've been inside Cintas and Shoemaker/Fifth Third, you know there's really no comparison. Cintas is worlds nicer.

Cincinnati: Retail News
Disappointing. I wonder if they could do a movie theater in that building.

Sycamore Township: Kenwood Collection
By the way, the idea that Von Maur is as upscale as Saks.....really?????

Sycamore Township: Kenwood Collection
Nothing could be further from the truth. I am surprised that Macy's didn't sign on though, if only to replace the aging Tri-County mall store, which has become ghetto. Dillard's will be in phase 1. I believe Macy's or Von Maur will be in phase two. Von Maur is much more upscale than Macy's/Dillard's. if not as upscale as SAKS. I don't have the time to go back through the thread--and it may well have been lost in the crash--but weren't you the one who was beating the drum that Liberty Towne Center was going to be the premier upscale shopping destination in the entire region, and that the Cincinnati region had never seen anything like it?
-
Sycamore Township: Kenwood Collection
I guess, though I think Von Maur is much more in line with Macy's/Dillard's than with Nordstrom/Saks. They've touted that project as premier and high end, but if they only end up with Von Maur and Dillard's, I don't think that qualifies.

Mulberry Street - Rehab in OTR
For the record, I removed the address from the title and post just as a precaution. I've already been looted of copper once so there's not really anything of value left inside, but still.

I'd say this is really bad news for the new development in Liberty. What high-end department stores can they reasonably expect out there?

MLB: General News & Discussion
Yeah, I'm trying to think of a local example. It would be kind of like the Reds saying they are leaving downtown because 75 is such a mess, and that they are going to locate off the Fields Ertel exit on I-71.

MLB: General News & Discussion
I travel to ATL (and particularly to Cobb County) fairly often as part of my job. That 75-285 area is already a traffic mess. I have to think this will not help that...

Also, pretty sure that Ted Turner doesn't own the team any longer (and hasn't for some time).

Certainly it's not very old, but it's not really a "baseball-only" stadium in the way that say Jacobs Field or GABP is. It was the converted Olympic Stadium from the 1996 Olympics. Only baseball is played there now, but it's not a baseball stadium by design.
