Cincinnati Reds Discussion
Well, that was a decent start to the second half. This next three weeks is the season, really. 3 against the Buccos, an 11 day trip out west, and then back home for Cards and Bucs again. Need to turn it on now if they are ever going to do it.

Website Status Update
It's not a big deal. It still tells me which ones are new when I get to the actual forum pages. Thanks for all the hard work!

Website Status Update
Oddly, when I go to the main page of the board I see a "recent forum topics" listing but it doesn't indicate new posts since my last visit as it did in the past. (I'm still logged in when I get here though.)

^It stinks on the front end, but your immune system probably got better with more exposure to others.

3-C Stereotypes Based on Google Auto-Complete
^He specified that he did that intentionally in the second post to see what happens when you just say "why is C_______..." versus "why is C__________ so....".

Cleveland Browns Discussion
One of the benefits of the site crash is seeing posts you hadn't before. I didn't realize that the Browns were so eager to dump Weeden already as that article seems to indicate--understanding there's a regime change, does he just not fit the style of play or is it they don't think he has the talent? Or was the reporter jumping the gun?

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Not to be a jerk, but I know that if I went into the Cleveland crime thread and said the same stuff about East 4th or Playhouse Square that you just did about OTR, you guys would all have the pitchforks out. If you don't really know about crime in Cincy/OTR, perhaps you should not be commenting on it. Last year Cleveland had twice as many murders as Cincinnati but not 2x the population--I didn't see a bunch of Cincy folks over there telling you what a dangerous city CLE is and how you need to get your act together.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
I wish I was as confident about the Qualls victory as you guys. Trust me, it's going to be very very close, and he is going to have a ton more money to spend.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
They're definitely taking the right approach with that type of contract. It's hard to give money to a guy who just missed the entire season, but if he's healthy he's a top-3 quality center, which is worth its weight in gold.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I know we lost a bunch of posts re: the politics of the streetcar, but I did want to mention here again (original lost to the ether) that I am hosting an upcoming fundraiser for Laure Quinlivan if anyone is interested. PM or email me and I can get you more information; the fundraiser is next Wednesday, July 17. (MODS, my apologies if this is not the appropriate format for that.)

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Just throwing this out there: I think the Cavs will win the draft lottery and select Anthony Bennett. (Man, I wish I could backdate posts!)

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Man, a lot has happened in a few months. Barry Horstman passed away, there have been untold numbers of articles and LTE's on the streetcar, Cranley moved full bore against it, the 17 million was appropriated....

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
That would be great. Where? I'm racking my brain, and I don't know that there's a ton of storefronts. Maybe up there past the dry cleaner but before Tyger Calloway?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Renaissance Hotel (Bartlett Building Redevlopment)
I have to think it would be a good residential conversion candidate. It's not overly large, and it is really quite old, which (IMO) makes it that much more difficult to turn something into prime office space.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 580 Building
Articles have indicated some of it will remain office space.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
To be fair, this is based on what Smitherman said on a 700 WLW show, so perhaps it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Metro Jobs 2007-2012
I think all the metros are doing comparatively well--especially to the country at large, in unemployment terms. Hard to complain about that. It's nice to be one of the states that gets listed as having an unemployment rate "significantly lower" than the national rate.

Well put.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I cannot imagine a campaign plan that centers around affirmatively pledging to waste tens of millions of dollars that have already been spent. Of course, I can't imagine it working unless there is somehow an anti-Streetcar majority elected to council, which seems very unlikely.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but the Jack Wood Gallery is moving from O'Bryonville to the Gateway Quarter. I love that place; have bought three posters there. Beautiful stuff. I am a huge fan and very excited. This should be a great addition. (It said in a mailer I received that he had lost his lease at the place in O'Bryonville.)
