Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
I think it's 6:00 PM, right? Yeah ... you guys are right. It's just silly. Nat and I were walking down Sycamore one day on a Saturday (near 8th inters.) and only just a hand-full of cars parked on the street and a lady was scrounging for change in her purse. On a Sunday evening. Ummm??? I told her; "It's FREE!" Most of them are 5, I think. I know all the ones on Fourth Street are 5.

Great pics, Sherman.

I am amazed. The campus changed completely from 1996 (when I arrived) to when I graduated in 2000. Since then, it's grown by leaps and bounds. Simply amazing. Good for X.

Thanks a lot, Obama. That's a dead-on Enquirer comment! lol

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
I am back downtown again today, and it looks like there are some supports on the top of QCS for the tiara installation. Anybody else see these? (Or maybe on the webcam?)

I think the tiara is beginning its construction. There appear to be three tiara pieces on top of the parking structure as we look down on it from Atrium II. (At least that's what I think they are.)

No, I mean the other W-S garage that has the spinning time/temperature thing on it. For some reason, I recall hearing that that garage was built in such a way that it could support a high-rise on top of it. (This could be complete urban myth, however.)

Wasn't the other garage built so that a building could be built upon it? Not that they'd actually do that, but it's a possibility.

Link to the PR department's press release on razing four of the houses for the new residence hall/dining complex. Also has a rendering a little different than the one above. http://www.xavier.edu/news/Site-Clearing-to-Begin-for-New-Xavier-University-Residential-Complex-and-Dining-Hall-.cfm

It looks like the Central Trust building is taller than Carew there, too.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Is there a final murder tally for the city out there somewhere?

The materials are the same, but there may be a slight difference to account for the variations in floor design. Ah. That makes sense. I guess I just thought they would make sure that the floors matched up, so it looked integrated from one building to the other. As it is, it looks like the floors (based on the curtainwall/windows) on the new section are about a foot or two higher than their counterparts on the original. Not that big a deal, obviously.

Zipping through Zanesville
That court house reminds me of Butler County's for some reason.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Not to bring up an inane topic, but does anyone else find it odd that the curtainwall divisions on QCS I and QCS II do not match up? I work in Atrium II, and the fact that the curtainwall on one building is just a little off from the other is really noticeable. I assume this is because the floors on each building simply don't match up?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
It looks to me like they are doing something where one of the two restaurants would go in that area. (I think the plans include small buildings on either end of that grat lawn behind the URFC that are supposed to have restaurants, if I recall correctly.) Maybe just some prep work to get a concrete pad in place for those buildings?

Now that was funny.

I don't think it's quite taller than Chemed yet, but it has to be close. Of course, they could have raised the elevator core another floor this week, and I may just not have noticed yet.

Based on the last couple of years, they'd certainly have trouble selling out US Bank arena. The Bearcats have not been close to selling out home games on a regular basis recently.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Atrium I and Atrium II are kind of like that, too. (But more space than would be at QCS.)

ah. Thanks.

Does anyone know if LA Fitness is locating across the street in Sycamore Plaza instead? I was out there this weekend, and noticed that there was a gym (I think LA Fitness) listed on the sign. I assume it would be going into the old Linens and Things location. What a waste of whatever work they've done at KTP for the gym if that's the case.

Sounds good. I'm really excited to see the effect of these buildings on campus.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Basketball Discussion
Bearcats are headed to the NIT barring a miracle in the BE tourney. A double-digit loss to South Florida tonight sealed their fate.

Cincinnati: Pleasant Ridge / Kennedy Heights: Development and News
On the actual project: I will take just about anything in lieu of the vacant KMart. The new National City branch looks really out of place right now.

I agree with you there on Columbia Twp., and wasn't trying to nitpick. I think people would most likely identify it with Pleasant Ridge. Thanks for changing it.
