  1. No worries, David. I agree we need some more variety clothing wise. 4th Street might be a good spot for it. Or eventually in OTR...
  2. You forgot Brooks Brothers! I'm only 30 and I love Brooks Brothers.

I always make it a point to go downtown for Christmas and do shopping downtown at that Macy's. It's very underrated--not as great a selection as Kenwood, but still good. Plus, you have Jos. Bank and Brooks Brothers (and Hunt Club) too, and Saks...

    ^Ha!
  5. Oxford, Oberlin, and Granville might be good options. They are all very much college towns, but all are fairly close to Ohio's major cities (Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus).

Alonso is apparently in the mold of Ryan Braun, which is just fine with me. I'm not too worried about the major league contract -- that's not too uncommon for the very top prospects.
  7. Well, I think most will tell you it depends on what you are looking for. I think that Columbus definitely--and Youngstown, as well--are different than the rest of those towns on the list. Columbus has 700k people in the city and another 1 million plus in the suburbs, so it's not a prototypical college town. Are you moving for a job, or looking to go to school in one of these places, or just moving to the city first and everything else will follow?

Oh, and one more thing: They should seriously consider turning Micah Owings into a position player. That guy can flat rake.

That Freel contract looks worse all the time. They should have about $35 million to spend, at least (I refuse to include Dusty's salary in the team payroll). Assuming that these guys are starters: Votto - 1B Bruce - RF EE - 3B Phillips - 2B There would seem to be four spots that are unsettled: SS - Could be Gonzales if he is healthy (and they're on the hook for $5 mill. to him) C - Hanigan? He's been okay so far. He can't hit any worse than Bako and Ross did. CF - ?? Has Dickerson done enough to merit a shot? Hairston? LF - ?? Rotation should be: Volquez Cueto Arroyo Harang Rodriguez/Daryl Thompson/Homer Bullpen: Cordero Bray Burton Lincoln (if they re-sign him) Here's what I think I would do with the lineup: * Sign a left fielder in the Carlos Lee mold -- a guy with power (preferably a righty) who will drive in a bunch of runs. Will probably cost 12-15 mill/year. * Sign a servicable catcher to share time with/groom Hanigan. There has to be a Molina brother available, right? * Decide what you want to do at the leadoff spot. If you think Dickerson is the answer, put him in CF and let him play. If you think it's Hairston, do the same thing. I would like to bring back Hairston but I think he played over his head this year, and he has injury issues. He would be a fine utility guy, though, and you know he would get plenty of AB's that way. * Put Homer in the 'pen. He seems determined to only throw two pitches anyway; might as well make him into a stopper of a short reliever. * Find the fifth guy in the rotation and let those guys go to work. They've actually been pretty good this year; if Cueto can take a step to the next level, they'd be a top-half type rotation. * Prepare for the day in a couple years where Yonder Alonso hopefully makes it to the bigs.

It's amazing that the hole is no bigger. It would be interesting to see the construction of this....sounds like a perfect candidate for a Modern Marvels episode.

Between this one and the one in Louisville, I'm especially thankful that QCS is going full steam ahead in Cincy. (Though I have to admit, I like the renderings of this one quite a bit more than the Louisville project.)

    Is this project officially dead?
  13. Moving it downtown is a very intriguing idea. Lots of schools have a law school nowhere near the main campus--Northwestern, Columbia, NYU, etc.--so it wouldn't be unprecedented. And it would be close to the courts, the big firms, and major companies. (Full disclosure: I am a graduate of UC Law.)
  14. Looks good. I'm looking forward to it.
  15. Seicer, any pics on the XU website that you know of? I'm not banking on a live cam or anything.... :)
  16. That looks pretty cool. All the stuff going on along the river right now is mind-boggling...
  17. Looks like it. I always thought that Gold Star was in a sort of weird spot.
  18. They're also doing the pilings(?) (or whatever those giant steel beams that get dropped into those deep drilled holes are called) at the same time. They've been doing quite a few of those each day for at least the last couple weeks.
  19. I'm a big fan of the serial comma, just for the clarity. But I think both ways are fine. I don't think you really use an ampersand when you're writing narratively like that.
  20. Went to Daybreak about a month ago. It was pretty good too.
  21. Yeah, that parking at the Kenwood Galleria can be a pain. Getting a parking space for First Watch on the weekend is a nightmare.

Any update on this? Is the project on hold because of the financing issues?
  23. Good for Columbus. I honestly don't know much about the DT Columbus housing market--when they say empty nesters are moving downtown in droves, are they talking CBD or places like Short North/Arena District?
  24. That Kroger needed to go anyway. It was in a very weird spot, and by the time of the demo, it was clearly smaller and had less variety than the newer stores (like the Blue Ash Kroger).
  25. Randy, I'm a little confused. I thought it was the Ohio Supreme Court that eventually came down on the side of the homeowners?
