Pennsylvania!
There's no "New England influence" in Eastern Pennsylvania... Eastern Pennsylvania was one of the original cultural hearths of Colonial America... developing a distinct pattern of urban development and architecture which was carried westward across the southern Midwest (by contrast, the New England hearth extended across Upstate NY and the Great Lakes region of the Midwest).

Super Bowl Insider: How do Steelers spell their latest championship? O-H-I-O by Tony Grossi/Plain Dealer Reporter Sunday February 01, 2009, 11:11 PM TAMPA, Fla. -- Pittsburgh owes its record sixth Super Bowl victory to Ohio. • Wide receiver Santonio Holmes, of Ohio State, earned the game's MVP award with nine catches for 131 yards and snatched the 27-23 Pittsburgh win with an acrobatic 6-yard TD pass with 35 seconds left. • Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, of Findlay and Miami (Ohio), led his team on the final drive, moving the Steelers -- with Holmes' help -- for 78 yards in 2:02. Roethlisberger won the Super Bowl for the second time in five years. He redeemed his sub-par performance in the 2005 Super Bowl game, throwing for 256 yards on 21-of-30 passing. • Linebacker James Harrison, of Kent State, had the play of the game before the final histrionics. Harrison, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year, intercepted Kurt Warner at the goal line and ran 100 yards for a touchdown on the last play of the first half. It was the longest play in Super Bowl history. Full article at http://www.cleveland.com/nfl/index.ssf/2009/02/super_bowl_insider_how_do_stee.html

NFL: General News & Discussion
Rooney has a firm grasp By Jason Cole, Yahoo! Sports TAMPA, Fla. – Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney makes it a policy to give out his cellphone number to all of the players. Conversely, Browns owner Randy Lerner allegedly didn’t even call the Jets before hiring Eric Mangini, the man New York had just fired. While those facts don’t fully explain the difference between a perennial contender like the Steelers and a serial cellar dweller like the Browns, it gives a glimpse into the chasm. Pittsburgh has become the NFL’s model franchise as it hopes to become the first team to win six Super Bowls when it plays the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Browns have yet to reach a Super Bowl. “Everything flows from the owner down,” said former Steelers defensive back Rod Woodson, a finalist for this year’s Hall of Fame class. “If you have an owner who is erratic and doesn’t know how to treat people, eventually the players are going to pick up on it. If you have an owner who is good to people and is supportive of the coaching staff, then it sets a whole different tone for how your team operates.” Full article at http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=ArzzpqWVcCW8YCy16w4RjKM5nYcB?slug=jc-rooneyincontrol013009&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

Pittsburgh Part IV Mt. Washington, Shadyside (housing) and Night shots
If you're referring to the multiple empty lots on Grandview... those are sites of proposed condos... Mt. Washington has an extremely powerful NIMBY coalition that has notoriously held up condo projects for years... though one is finally under way
