Interestingly, the Cleveland Plain-Dealer editorial page is the only major newspaper in Ohio that supports Issue 3. Youngstown, Akron, Toledo, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton all had scathing editorials against. incredibly, you're correct... I just assumed these were small Ohio towns of the same name. I wonder why Jamestown and Rochester stations would broadcast games of the distant Cleveland Browns... when they are in the heart of Buffalo Bills country, who have a strong and passionate following... surely broadcasts of the woeful faraway Browns don't bring in very strong ratings for these stations... That Rochester station also broadcasts Baltimore Orioles games. Western NY has no MLB team of its own... and the Rochester Red Wings have long been the AAA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles (they're now the AAA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins). I've heard the Orioles have a pretty decent following in Rochester.

Good point about the tudor apartment buildings of Shaker Square... love those things... similar apartment buildings are found throughout some of the inner-ring suburbs. Glenville is one of my favorite Cleveland neighborhoods when it comes to housing stock... but unfortunately the neighborhood is not in the best shape right now.

I would like to see any Detroit city neighborhood other than downtown or midtown or Greektown. Corktown, Boston-Edison and Hamtramck (not city, but surrounded by it) are suggestions.

These aren't exactly the cities that come to mind when I think of Cleveland. And when did we start referring to it as THE Cleveland? Baltimore is a similar sized metro, but the other three are all over twice the size of Cleveland's metro. They have much different economies, much different cultures, much different housing stock, much different architecture, etc. It's the vanguard of the East Coast vs. the quintessential Midwestern Great Lakes industrial city. I don't disagree, however, that Cleveland can lure East Coasters from those overheated markets. Cheap housing and cultural amenities are two attributes Cleveland can claim. However, the city proper unfortunately is not awash in the type of quality housing stock that these East Coasters would be looking for... in contrast to other regional large cities like Cincinnati, Columbus and Pittsburgh. I suspect downtown area condo development, as well as some of the older inner-ring suburbs, would be the prime areas for luring East Coasters.

So this is basically just a measure to "not let money flow into other states", eh? Since West Virginia, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Missouri, etc etc all have or are getting casinos. So there really will not be much "gambling tourism" to Ohio from other states. West Virginia's gaming facilities in Wheeling and Chester profited from Pennsylvania and Ohio visitors... but now that those states are getting casinos, perhaps WV's will wither. But with just about every state getting casinos now... no state can really count on out-of-state visitors pumping up their projections. With the saturation of casinos, they will all become meager performing regional facilities, as opposed to destinations. Be wary of the pie-in-the-sky projections the gaming proponents advertise.
