  1. Steven nails it in this article. All that money, and all it became was a glorified repaving. Edgewater is still a traffic jam to get into. Shoreway is still a speedway. The new bikepath is nice, I'll give them that!
  2. Having people follow you to your car asking you to "wait up" and follow you to parking lots is my definition of scary. I am downtown often. Not sure "where I live" matters. If you have a group of men follow your group to a parking lot when no police are around, you would feel "scared" it happens often. Its why I don't park in the warehouse district anymore unless I'm going to warehouse district. I had people in from out of town who stayed at Westin. They wanted to go to East 4th for dinner and walk around. Its not fun at night. There needs to be a bigger police presence on foot or bike before it gets out of hand.
  3. I've said it before, that area is not fun after 9pm. If you ever park in the warehouse district and walk to any events at the Q or go to East 4th...the walk back is scary.
  4. Thats my question also...what sparked the need for the white panels? I don't recall anyone complaining about the building...complaints were with the garage design. Hopefully they can still go back to original design of tower.
  5. Hmmmmmm......I'm not sure i like the addition of the white panels. And still no retail on ground level.

^ exactly KJP....as I layed on the beach Sunday and watched trains go by all day long....What would it take to have a station right at the tunnel behind Battery Park?! The traffic on weekends is a nightmare
  7. They are not really transferring a lot of people in from MSP, either. The phrase I've heard is "relocation costs money"
  8. It is a slap....especially because he preaches how much of a pioneer he is. But on the flip side, I've talked with several downtown residents who live right there who say they have no idea how any of those places stay open on Euclid. All they get is a lunch crowd. They are empty at dinner time and weekends. Downtown needs more people, not only residents....but jobs.

Great pics KJP! That will always be the best view!!!!
  10. Nice...and that is moving pretty quick when compared to other similar sized projects!!
  11. That looks fantastic!! And the rental rates are not horrible......Should fill up quick

^ Exactly....Frank Jackson is the best of a horrible collection of candidates. Having twitter conversations with Reed and Johnson is infuriating. This area would come to a crashing halt if either of those two were elected.
  13. I am actually thinking this whole deal is a shell game. Pulling tenants from one building to put them in another, with little actual "ADD" to the city other than a new addition to the skyline. I don't see it that way, especially since the office component is such a small piece to the overall project. The added residential and retail more than makes up for any tenant shuffle. Its not a shell game. The magic number fro downtown population is 20,000. At that number, retailers become more interested. Number now is about 14K. Only way to get to 20K is to add units. That means more conversions AND new construction. 6K more people will require at least 3K more units
  14. I've heard of them. It's not uncommon. People are skipping Horseshoe for Northfield Park in part for this reason. Exactly.....and I'm not going to call it a "homeless" issue. its aggressive panhandlers and flat out criminals are harassing people. Its on west 25th too. Parking lot next to west side market. "homeless" guys tell you where there is open parking spot, than demand tip from you. And if you don't, they suggests your car will not be "watched" Its crazy
  15. Exactly! I'm down in FEB a lot......Those bikers have been rolling thru all summer. Last few weeks its gotten worse...4 wheelers are coming down also. And cops do NOTHING. Pay attn City of Cleveland. People want to feel safe
  16. There is a TON of parking in the warehouse district....Its an easy walk down. In reading the comments section on Cleveland.com...people were suggesting tearing down more old buildings in flats for parking. RTA neeeds to get WFL operating till 2AM. but most important.....Cleveland police need to spend less time towing and more time patrolling. The walk back to parking lots late night are ridiculously unsafe. Example....Left Billy Joel concert couple Fridays ago...parked by Bar Louie. From East 4th to Public Square....asked for money or "directions" or "ride" 5 times. Public Square at midnight has people sleeping on the stairs, and a grown man peeing on the sidewalk by the lawn. Than we were followed to the parking lots by two gentleman who kept asking us to "wait up". Not a cop in sight. Parking isnt the issue...but feeling safe is
  17. SW Breen Tech Center is full......The new parking spaces are for existing employees.....They are flat out of room there. Most of the Valspar technical will be staying in Minneapolis at their brand new labs. I believe SW Warrensville Tech center has some space...but it needs to be remodeled. I get the feeling that any SW announcement on anything is still a long way away
  18. ^^ It absolutely could be a very successful area....but only if Cleveland reverses the population trend and starts adding massive amounts of people. (and jobs...and new companies) Unfortunately, any new mixed use area takes people from an existing one. Its a shell game.
  19. ^^ UGH...just UGH. I still can't believe that CMSD is doing this. Nothing sparks development quite like a High School. All the vacant land in this city to build a school on......
  20. Would HKM be moving somewhere else in the city?
  21. Unfortunately, that part of the Lakefront is so removed from the rest of Downtown....I don't see how they ever make it successful. I was on bike ride Sunday at North Coast Harbor, and its incredible how little of the lakefront is even accessible by bike.
  22. When are they scheduled to come back to design review? I'd love to know if they have made any changes to the original garage plan!!
  23. Is that the same group that designed Tremont Black? looks identical except for color. I drive by that corner all the time, I can imagine how they get that many townhouses in there??
  24. Such a great idea....As stores continue to close in that area, build more retail and make the backup on 71 even worse at that ramp. People moved to Strongsville because they wanted suburban life, so now it becomes to congested, so they will move further away to recapture "suburban" life, and the cycle continues....
