Good news about the building! Any pushback on vacating Spruce ave? That would make that block pretty long. I wish the city would stop allowing stuff like that.

I always thought Storer 's issue was the loss of an active street wall over the years. The overall narrowness is definitely a factor to reducing dangerous driving/speeding and Storer is acceptable in this regard as @GISguy mentions but even more the constrictiveness feeling of non setback buildings with active uses that draw people to mingle, signals subconsciously to drivers to slow down and and be more alert. With the loss of all those building, replaced by empty lots that signal is gone. I wont take the twitter image to be 100% to what is going to happens but if it is, its just cutting into the ped right of way not the road surface and might actually even have the opposite effect tree lawns give to drivers that they are buffered and separate from the pedestrian realm.

That sucks. I hope they can open in a new place... at least maybe just the pinball portion. I'll keep my eyes open for a large amount of machines on the local market, that will be the indicator.

Just saw that. It was only last week that a car ran into the new townhouse on 47th which is just a little over a block from this. 🤦

Can ODOT not help themselves doing stuff like this on the new extension between cedar and Carnegie. 😮‍💨

Was just about to respond Honey locust, that's what a plant image search result returned for me at least. My favorite example of them is just north of Euclid on 9th along Huntington bank building. Those have been there forever.

That's sad about CentOS and news to me. Never heard of Alma but my two cents is go with Ubuntu. Alma has a better chance of being abandoned like CentOS.

I don't mind the smaller trees we have on lower Euclid. Might be a minority opinion, but I'm trying to get as much sun as I can get. The small trees add some greenery (obviously not now in winter) but don't shade out the sun too much.

Isn't that just the normal sidewalk though? So they are directing bikes on to the sidewalks. Seems like a menace to people on two feet. Maybe there are not many pedestrians on 105 to matter?

My buddy last week told me Allstate had bought 800 Superior, not sure if that's accurate or if that included the garage (which is in bad shape).

That was exactly my first thought as well. I have been riding/running on marginal for years now with 0 issue and my only complaint would be how unpleasant it is right next to the the highway. It's been a while... but I don't think the proposed Lakefront bikeway addressed that.

Do we know if the building along Commerce Ave. is coming down too? To my untrained eye it looks like that building would have housed administrative needs and wouldn't be polluted like GE is saying the rest of the site is. Plus isn't this the building with the plaque to commemorate the alternate dimensional event that took place here. edit: I was mistaken, the plaque is on a building a block south of here on Perkins https://kcymaerxthaere.com/marker/land-of-the-warres/

@KJP Where did you source the ODOT proposal for East 18th ramp? I'm interested in seeing the rest of the plans. I wonder, is the grade difference too much to do something like Dino illustrated above, with multiple, straight ramps down to the new boulevard from Lakeside. Multiple access points with intersections seems like the best setup for managing traffic and to maximize the development of land there.

Eagle Avenue Bridge needs to be saved and ideally restored to it's intended use. Maybe the state can come up with some money? Residential developments are under way and I'm assuming much more to follow (eventually). Not to mention plans for the South Flats. Time to invest in some infrastructure here and it might as well be this beauty. I honestly can't imagine this view without Eagle Avenue Bridge here. (photo from 7/3)

The concrete cores are up and foundation work looks to be almost complete on NRPs south building. The Silverhills building is still working on excavation. I have zero insider info but it seems they are finding some interesting relics under ground that may be increasing their timeline.

I was almost tricked into using this yesterday! I quickly realized that nothing had changed past the green paint so I opted to use the wide north sidewalk as usual. For the record this only place I don't use the street to ride a bike in the city. People fly on Lorain Carnegie bridge and the shoulder is super tiny. I'm actually surprised they did this, I hope no one gets hurt because of it.
