  1. I always agree with density. I'm just a little concerned SW will be the only use for both the whole super block and jacobs lot. Single use density is not ideal. Yes, we get rid of the surface parking lots but will there be any reason for non SW employees to be here other than maybe pass through. We'll just have to wait and see.
  2. The city may benefit from something like this in the short-term but in a decade or so when it falters it will be another huge, single use structure to deal with.

^Full speed game situation I don't know if it would be fully apparent to Garrett that the ball was released already. Also the case could be made that Garrett was sitting on him because Mason had a hold of his helmet.
  4. ^ that could be (somewhat) easily addressed though. There just inst any political will for that to change right now.
  5. They'll say cgi for pink skys in the over lake shot ? It was real though, they lucked out big time that morning.
  6. Staging area on 6th coming down today!
  7. For the super block option, do we know if SW is opposed to any type of mix-use such as what Weston had planned (obviously with an increase in the office sq)?
  8. Anyone catch the sun rise this morning?
  9. Wow. I went to the soft opening of City Works and was talking to one of Bottleneck reps that was overseeing the build out. They dumped a bunch of money into it.
  10. That might require some unsightly fencing though.

I support this. Especially if you install an urbanohio guest room.
  12. That would be fantastic. One of my favorite features of the building.
  13. Just spit balling here but how about this area for new justice center complex. Access to old courthouse, law firms and rail access.
  14. Second look this afternoon and I think you're right. Wishful thinking on my part I guess.
  15. I'm not sure but wasn't "Kerry Freaking McCormack" used in an overheard phone convo by the developer proposing the casino skywalk in reference to McCormack's nay vote. Weird headline nevertheless.
  16. Looks like they might be installing walking paths in the central area of the northern half (around the stage). To me this was the biggest flaw from the original design. That's not counting the crosswalk fiasco... that was an issue created post completion. Anyone have info on this? Right now they are just digging up dirt on both sides about where people have naturally created trails to the center of public square.

Wow, those commie blocks in Moscow! Anyone ever watch the Mike Looks at Maps youtube vids. There was one he did on Tirana Albania, a city that is constructed with dense commie blocks but in a way that's honestly quite nice. As we know here at UO, it's s all about the scale of the built environment.
  18. I get the feeling that this Byod guy is just talking for the purpose of marketing and exposure to him and his firm.
  19. Not against the loop by any means but I do feel the purple Detroit/Superior line pictured above would have the most immediate and substantial impact.
  20. Small diner. There, you're welcome NRP.
  21. I still don't like it but with a few tweaks it could be passable as urban. 1) The row behind the the two main buildings, is to my best estimate about 60 ft. I would make the parking here diagonal, saving room. Two-way with diagonal parking needs about 50 ft. So you gain about 10'. Then if move the parking deck back as far as you can, I think you have enough room to line the front of the parking deck with townhomes (like they have on the other two sides) 2) I would like to some sort of retail here. Best option I see is ground floor on the 5 story main building facing where GL is going. When great lakes builds their portion you want that area to be welcoming to walk around and expore. Currently I don't think they accomplish that at all.
  22. Ontario Street Cafe? ?
  23. I don't drive so I could probably care less but it does seem a little extreme. So we either have auto centric thoroughfares or totally shut the roads down? What's wrong with incremental changes. Reduce this two traffic lanes and narrow them so 10mph is the comfortable speed. And add dedicated bus and bikes lanes. I would rather see the incremental approach everywhere then forcing all traffic to a few routes that will then remain totally hostile to non vehicle users indefinitely.
