  1. I had a similar thought.
  2. Geis seems to be good at getting the ball rolling on projects. My hope is they intervened with NRPs initial plan.
  3. Last I heard is that there isn't anyone lined up yet.
  4. Are the concrete things in-between the bollards, planters? The Look like jersey barriers.
  5. So it gets built in Cleveland, maybe just not in our preferred reality. Ugh
  6. I'm a little surprised they are totally replacing deck on the far right east bound lane of Detroit, Superior bridge. The one that was turned into a bike only lane somewhat recently. Not complaining, it just seemed like it wasn't in that bad of shape and since heavy vehicles vacated it was holding up well compared to the other traffic lanes. Seemed like a good opportunity to tout an x million dollars saving due to being a bike lane. Maybe there were underlying issues with it.
  7. Seems that Snavely Phase 3 is underway this morning.
  8. I'm not familiar with the convention world at all. Is it possible the big convention market is already well saturated? Or is it the type of cutthroat sector where the newest and nicest facilities get the bookings? Its sounds like a good way to get the ball rolling on a land bridge (in combination with multi modal transit hub) but I wonder if we would be building new convention infrastructure with little ROI.
  9. I would personally prefer the taller option @Geowizical provided (thank you btw). Not necessarily becuase of the skyline presence but becuase that would be a single use taking up the Public Square lot as well as all of the super block next door. That's a huge area. I get the desire to knock both of those lots out in one swing, long term though I feel it would be better if that didn't happen. This is obviously all fantasy at this point, still fun to think about.
  10. Found it... this: https://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/2016/10/hilton_hotel_or_global_center_could_expand_on_property_west_of_the_center_according_to_architectural_request.html#incart_river_home I don't think I ever saw any follow up on the request for qualifications outcome, though.
  11. Wasn't there someone not too long ago, possibly Gilbert (?) that mentioned the possibility of building on the small strip of dead space west of med mart, along Ontario?
  12. Specifically the Great Lakes ? I think the east/west of Cuyahoga is just used as a geography/topography distinction.
  13. I worked at Breen about a decade ago. The hazard is with the oil based coatings. You need to work under hoods to vent the fumes, else you might get light headed after sampling for a couple hours. Alkyd Oil based paint work was the worst of it though, so a pretty manageable issue in any type of facility. We physically ran these tests up to corporate daily. Again that was 10 years ago so it might be a digitized process at this point. edit: @Pugu I was using oil and alkyd interchangeably, which was confusing after I looked at it again.
  14. Yeah, a little to the right but not by much.
  15. No, but I have heard about apartments on a lot just barely in that pic^ ?
  16. Street level comparison , Mall B (post Hanna Fountains).
  17. Agree, that's crazy talk . Plus, the convention center took away our view of the lake with the mall B slope, so all's fair.
  18. Yep. I noticed the beep/brake last time I was on the east side and was wondering the same thing.
  19. ...But I used to play for Cleveland United. I have all the retro merch ready to go!
  20. I think the other is 1255 Euclid (Sterling Lindner ). I believe the owner at one time was floating a 12 story expansion?
  21. I found this picture a while back: I personally would like to see the corner from ink's picture finished, the parking-deck/ballroom demolished, and west 3rd restored between Prospect and Superior. Then on the other side of the restored w3rd extention to the prospect/sup point built out and the right hand turn lane removed there. Some day
  22. I had worked with a couple of former IT employees of Parker Hannifin, that had left because of their location. Times are changing, so you never know. ..
  23. I see where you're coming from but I also think you're conflating street grid with fabric. I agree there is a sub optimal street grid connecting downtown with Scranton peninsula but plenty of amazing cities, around the world have overcome far worse geological features to continue the urban fabric. Napoli comes to mind off the top of the head. I agree with others thoughts on why this huge development undertaking isn't being devided into a more phased approach. Under that method it's understandable to have surface lots that are part of a future development phase. With the current proposal though, nothing meaningful can ever happen with the lots. They are fully built into the finished product.
