  1. Old Fashioned is good but I was team Steves Lunch all the way. It was a true Cleveland gem. Addys, PJs were great too. Nice to see Addys make a come back. Random memory but was Addys located on Ontario at one point? Either in May Co garage or just to the north? The name came to me this morning, I was remembering Alvies on Ontario. A google search returned that they actually reopened as Mike & Dee's diner at 629 Euclid Avenue. Still need to make it up to Jackflapps on Lorain. I have attempted twice but the wait was too long both times.
  2. I concur, this is posied to be a great reaidential location. I was speculating on the reason for the lower rental rates at the Standard. The immediate area just doesn't have the "it" factor yet...
  3. Wrong parking lot. The hotel is a few to the south. Last I heard the Hotel had contracted out the construction but I don't know the projects current status.
  4. Agree, there really isn't much in the immediate area expect for Hotel restaurants, bars. Nothing like living along lower Euclid and playhouse. It would be wise for the involved parties (Standard, Illuminating buildings) to try to activate W 2nd.

Man, that Cleveland Hotel garage/ballroom really needs to go and W 3rd restored between Prospect and Superior.
  6. It's fully functional too. I checked the time on it last night. Love it!
  7. Being it's a total blank slate right there I envision W 3rd as the dividing line. Front W 3rd and Superior corridors with larger structures but then rapidly scale down to the 4-6 range, transitioning into the warehouse district. W 3rd and E 9th are our two corridors to the lake and should be treated as such. Brownstones could work in the interior of the super block but definitely need to break it up with a few streets.
  8. The county/city should only vacate about half of Superior Viaduct and add on to the Campbell block parcel. The other parcels should be combined into one or two (west and east). East could be developed with 15-20ish stories. West block and Campbell with 6ish. And then non or limted vehicular Superior viaduct running down the middle from the 25th/Detroit intersection. That's how I would do it.
  9. This great to see! Looking forward to the renders.
  10. I believe the elevator shaft has always been there. The 2d satellite images google currently uses have the updated Public Square, btw. Globe view is behind a few years with their satellite imagery.
  11. I'm interested to see the plan for the roundabout at Fulton. Would that utilize the Circle or would there eventually be a traffic circle, circled with a restored Franklin circle?
  12. They are currently doing work on this corner. Looks like sidewalks. I can't tell if more is going to take place but I would imagine if the lot(s) were going to be developed in the immediate future, new sidewalks would come after the heaver construction.

@mu2010 Nice photos. I love the walkways there. and the tile facades! https://www.citylab.com/design/2018/10/lisbons-beautiful-dangerous-sidewalks/573643/ Also , I took the same photo as the first one in your set (i think it's a famous view or something ? )

Combination of the location, built environment and history. Looking out over the the port and thinking about what transpired there during The War, you cant help to feel something in your gut. It's pretty touristy though. It doesn't seem like that many people live there other than support the incoming tourists. Malta is general is a unique place.

^Valletta is a pretty surreal place. 1) Lisboa - I have been thinking about this city recently, and I haven't been back in quite some time. No place has attached and stuck with me as much as Lisbon. 2) Catania - Another place that has stuck with me, not to the degree of Lisbon but similar. ...too many to decide at the moment
  16. Colorized and makes me want these back even more.
  17. I had the exact same feelings. Some of those existing buildings could be re-used for structured parking too. I came up with a quick idea in my head for the site, maybe I can get it on paper. but ya, very unimaginative overall, and I agree with a poster up-thread that this stuff looks like a half step up from student housing that could be found anywhere usa.
  18. My sister lives in NH, about 30 mins from Lincoln.
  19. I heard it was YMCA that was mucking it up.
  20. I think there is currently a Knez sign up on that corner lot. So maybe Bo knows, something? Unrelated but interesting enough (at least to me) this morning I randomly came across a pic from 1937 of the opposite corner across 47th (northwest)... attaching
  21. Rich, is there a way for UO members to help create the new site at all? I cant guarantee a time commitment, but maybe if there was a git repo some of the programmers on here could help out by donating their free time?
  22. I understand the concept of visually disconnecting gamblers from the outside world but could you imagine playing table games with the backdrop of Euclid Ave? An ultra-classy, cosmopolitan concept with a city back-drop, that might be a draw unto itself, no. I have been to One other Casino other than Cleveland. Would this be such an adventurous new concept? With all the saturation you have now, the old “don’t let them see out” might be a hold-out from the old school casino play book at this point, at least for casinos in interesting locations. Lots of ideas going on in my head right now. Is anyone currently using the top floor of Higbee? What's the view like facing east, looking through those large windows on the top floor? Anyone have some photos archived?? I can't remember if I have ever been up there (what floor was Mr Jingeling on?). I gamble once, maybe every 5 years, so I have no idea about this stuff. Just thought it was an interesting idea and discussion.
  23. ^Amazing I recently noticed trolley tracks popping up through the asphalt on John ave at Woodbine in Ohio City. Never realized there was a line here. Sure enough, I found a map from 1990 and it looks like there was a short jog on John as part of the Bridge Ave line.
  24. Interesting. I'm wondering... would this would be in addition to whatever Metro does at the Hollywood video lot further east down Lorain? Or is This that speculated development in a different location.
