Nice, wasn't that building on a demo list at some point too?

Gentrification News & Discussion
I think we will see some diversification eventually. Urban centers for the most part had been on a hiatus for what, about 50 years? Probably more like 70. There needed to be a template/blueprint to guide this, for many, new frontier.

Just, the view not terminated by a parking structure. Doesn't have to be anything crazy. Maybe just wrap the street frontage with more apartments. Maybe im being petty haha

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Cool, didn't expect development here any time soon! One minor gripe... Why terimate the sight line view, looking east down the new Gehring St from 25th with a parking garage. It's a small detail but in my mind a proper/interesting termination is important aesthetic in an urban environment. Builders of the past seemed to capitalize on this design principle much more.

Electric Scooter Sharing
I have been curious ever since the scooters showed up about their real world speeds. I was hearing people discuss using them as longer distance transportation options (3 miles+) Well today I finally encountered a scoot commuter while on my bike. I was actually surprised at the rate that I blew past them. At least twice their speed. And I didn't even have my faster full road bike. I had the heaver Bianchi steel frame today, so not that much faster then your typical city bike. Without personally using a scooter yet I would say they are more tailored for the 5 block to 1 miles hopes.

Quick Cincinnati Visit
We had a great time btw! It's been a crazy week but I plan on writing something thoughtful when I have some free time. I saw this one and would have stopped but the last thing we had stopped for was coffee and you can only convince a non coffee drinking travel partner to stop for more coffee so many times. I saw this... guess I'll will just have to come back soon. Also I didn't realize Aladdin's was right next door. Can we nickname this part of OTR "Little Cleveland" ;)

They are not done yet, I know but i'm pretty sure these will be my favorite looking town homes to go up on the near west side. Congrats on your investment!

Quick Cincinnati Visit
Making a trip down to Cincinnati late tomorrow afternoon, staying overnight and hanging out for a good portion of Sunday. Any must suggestions? I haven't been down there for nearly a decade now so im sure there is a bunch of new places to check out. We are lodging in CBD but will no doubt take the streetcar up to OTR (probably Sunday) We have nothing planned currently other than just strolling around, eating and drinking. Also, I drink a lot of coffe (espresso) so what are the shops you guys/gals in the know like? Thanks in advance.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
Thanks for the clarification. I have never parked in either of the garages. Maybe at one point it could handle car access (see ramp in pic): unrelated observation edit: What a handsome 6ish story building where Perk Park is now.

I know little about parking, but wasn't there an underground entrance from Rockwell too (One Cleveland)?

^ Cool! I didn't even notice.

Cleveland: Population Trends
And Cleveland's only residential neighborhood directly adjacent to downtown, Central, was completely wiped off the face of the Earth. I just was thinking about that yesterday looking at the Cincys historic west end aerials posted yesterday. Cleveland has a lot of work to do when it comes to downtown/urban non high-rise residential.

The high school will have a smaller foot print. It’s well designed with buildigs abutting the street along Detroit and W 45th - parking tucked in back. https://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2017/05/plans_for_new_west_side_high_s.html Smaller neighborhood schools are important. imjustinjk, has the plan changed from these renderings that you know? The footprint is still the whole old Max Hayes lot in those renders.

Congrats! 47th and Lorain over here. Typical crime in our area. In 15 years I have yet to witness any violent crime. Just theft. There is a definite opportunistic undertow in the area. If you want to keep it, lock it down (which i'm sure you know by now). It never ceases to amaze me how fast things get picked up when you put them out on the tree lawn around here. Like under 10 minutes haha. It's like an ant colony. Its nice to see that the community at 50th and Det banding together to develop the area further. Could be a really cool. Is Edgewater Cafe still open?

Fences are up on W 41st and Lorain for the development on that surface lot. The barrier extends on to 41st, taking away the right turn lane. For this reason I think we will see progress right away since the city probably requires a definite timeline with a reduction in traffic lanes.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
You are correct. It was listed on the market in 2013 for $20,000. My realtor showed me the old listing. Ugh. The bad comes with the good during neighborhood revival.

It's crazy... i'm fairly certain I looked at that house 6ish years ago when I was in that market and I'm pretty sure it was around 100k less than the current asking price. I doubt any upgrades have been made.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Something is going on at The Quarter this morning. Detroit is shut down from 28th, everyone is evacuated and there are about 4 firetrucks and other additional vehicles on the scene. Hope everything turns out to be OK. Might be a gas issue, I heard a loud hissing sound when passing.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
I think he was saying that there's space available in the old Ohio Savings building. I'm sure his source knows that that AmTrust was a 120-year-old bank that was shut down in 2009 whereas this AmTrust is a commercial insurance company founded only 20 years ago. I see it now, thanks for pointing it out. Read too fast the first time. In the end that would still be a good outcome. Continued job growth downtown and refilling some recently vacated office floors.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Wait. Could we possibly be getting the old AmTrust Bank (Ohio Savings) 1801 East 9th Street mixed up with AmTrust Financial, across the street at 800 Superior? Two totally different companies and buildings.

National General, based in Winston Salem NC is the other major tenant in that building (multiple floors). They have close ties with Amtrust and are also growing rapidly through acquisitions as well. I think you may be on to something. Between the two it seems they will need more space soon.
