Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
^The lake shore, our dumping grounds since forever. Although now-a-days it not literally waste/garbage. "Hey, where do you want to put this?" "I don't know just throw it out on the Lake, it might bring people out to see it"

Cleveland-Akron: Bicycling Developments and News
Look to NYC its always a pretty safe bet. Seems like this went in around 2012 https://goo.gl/maps/q1gHNA5UkaG2

Cleveland-Akron: Bicycling Developments and News
Does anyone know of any real-world examples of this type of "Midway" bike lane being used?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
^Horrible. That would bring the ugly statue count to two at North Coast. I feel everything about the Lake Front is wayyyy too forced right now. The city needs to take some steps back. It okay to not be ready to tackle this whole lake front thing yet but forcing decisions to get "something" in there will ruin it for generations.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
^ Great info KJP. I knew a little about the rolling road but not nearly to the extent I do now! There is still a few places in the flats that could use a modern funicular :)

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Taking advantage of a couple days with above average temps, the addition for the new Erie Social Shuffleboard building is nearly framed out.

Cleveland: Downtown: Standard Building
Seems like a excellent place for a residential high-rise, between Old Stone Church and the Standard Building.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I don't think any change i.e. removal of decorative pavement needs to be made out of safety concerns. It is my experience that everyone still treats Superior for what it is, a street. Back in the warmer days when I would ride my bike through the square twice every day I noticed that the people crossing through the middle of Superior would always look both ways, even though the road was blocked off. I never saw kids running out into the street. In fact if my memory serves me, there is a lip around the splash zone so you wouldn't be running accross a flush surface right into the street. I dont see any need to spend more money on this. I also walk to and cut through the square. It has become hard to cross the perimeter with the buses, especially the large articulating buses trying to make all these turns now. It definitely takes much longer to actually get into Public Square.

Cleveland: Nautica Development
Is this a cruel joke? ^If they are going to be intimidated by a parking garage then you better believe they would be absolutely horrified of a walk from that potential surface lot to the powerhouse at night.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
^That's the idea, thanks for sharing the project. Toronto rail deck park is reported at 21 acres so about 48M/acre. Quick measurement of Cleveland's gap from E9th to about the old browns bridge is 17 acres (*add another 10 if you wanted W3rd to E9th). Using Toronto rail deck as a model that would our price tag at 850M-1.3B. Admittedly I didn't dig that deep into what that 1B price tag for Tor. rail deck included and how it would relate to Cleveland's scenario. Either way that's a lot of $. But I say: so what. Phase it then. Do what you can now and allow it to easily interface with additional pieces in the future. Also the way I see it, unlike rail deck's public park once Cleveland owns the air-rights and start to devise the platform/grid infrastructure then you can sell the rights to private investors to plug in their pieces, at their cost thus lessening the public investment needed to span the the whole area. I don't know, is that too pie-in-the-sky? I'm attaching a visual of what a half acre looks like on our Lakefront which as calculated above, is what we could afford with the 25M that would be spent on a one and done iconic bridge. Its not much, I know. But ironically (not really) its consistent with what was imagined (by KJP I believe) for the NCTC. Also I agree with everyone about the uncertain future of the shoreway. I don't think that effects this bluff cap too much though. The rail will most likely always be there. CbusTransit[/member], I also look forward to seeing what you draft out.

^ that's amazing! 7%. What an undeniable indicator of efficiency and cost effectiveness. The fact that rail has managed to stay relevant all these years while every other form of transportation infrastructure is heavily financed or even fully backed by the government is amazing to me. I am for waiting and extending the city with a cap over the shoreway and rails. In my mind that is the only way to do it right. I don't see any type of narrow bridge in that location as Iconic no matter what is spent on it. Well maybe an iconically bad decision.

Cleveland Area TOD Discussion
Zone Rec is horrible, no question about that. I don't see why the SE corner of 65th and Lorain and down to in front of the rec center cant eventually be built up though. There is a lot of area there.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Excellent way to put it. This has gone far enough! Why are we trying to piss these people off? We need them, especially with our current office at the state level. Voice your concerns about safety and plant those Superior subway seeds, but for the love of god open up the square to transit already.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Another key point to that article is that little asterisk at the bottom of the article: *Self-driving vehicles gain ground in Ohio Less than half of the money spent on testing autonomous vehicles in Columbus would have erased RTAs budget shortfall. Just sayin...

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
^ Good news, Thanks. I do enjoy Aladdins but no breakfast is a bummer, maybe they can expand in the future with simple Eastern Mediterranean breakfast options. I didn't frequent BonBon but remember their croissant being above average.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
When they first turned them on for testing I noticed this (kinda hard not to) and initially thought that it was going to be toned down after they had a chance to survey everything, but its still like that.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
All of the flats peninsulas are definitely a huge untapped resource to the residents and future residents of this city. So much potential that hasn't even come close to being fully realized in all of Cleveland's history. The 4 potential Flats Boroughs or dare I say 5 boroughs if we were ever to open up the old river to inhabitants. For a second think about the uniqueness that is the Flats. Not many cities have this type of interesting landscape right on the edge of their downtown. I often forgot how special our location is from a natural landscape standpoint. And to make my post relevant to this Stones Levee thread! In my mind this peninsula has the best risk/reward ratio of all 4 peninsulas. It is on the doorstep of downtown and the largest transit hub in the state. The infrastructure for building on that immediate slope is a little daunting but the payoff s are huge. Defiantly high-rises along Ontario from Carnegie to Fed Courthouse. Rail stop underneath near Carnegie. Then dense mid-rise behind that along Canal, Stones Levee, 3rd, under the bridges until you reach the river or the too industrial areas. I hope the developers will have the finances and vision to build this location out to its full potential.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
From what I could gather from a co-worker the red line incident was a train stopped at Puritas he was on. He said the doors were doing that half close and rapidly open again thing they do but they never got them to completely shut. Everyone had to exit the train at Puritas and wait for the next train.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Waited close to 45mins this morning for the 22 (west 40's). Not sure what could have been done differently by RTA in this instance though... short of rail running down (or under) Lorain :0 The roads were just bad

Cleveland: Rocket Arena (Gund Arena)
Would have been cool to include a redo of the parking garage. All the garages seem to be in pretty decent shape though so it would be hard to justify. I see what they are doing with the Little Caesars complex in Detroit and I'm jealous.

Cleveland: West Side Market News & Info
I think the authenticity of the West Side Market being a market that hasn't been tainted with tourist-trap stuff is a lot of what makes it a tourist destination. I would be wary of messing with that. I took the suggestion as an expansion type of thing, leaving the old Market as is. Maybe that's just where my mind went, I immediately thought of a Torvehallerne type of set-up, on a portion of the lot just north of Market Ave.

Cleveland: West Side Market News & Info
^ Something like Torvehallerne in Copenhagen. Lets do it and start developing the parking lots while we are at it
