Cleveland Area TOD Discussion
And to think at the time I thought the animal kennel proposed near the West blvd. Station was as bad as it could get as far as TOD and overall land use.

Nashville September 2016 -- low-rise infill & SoBro towers
Thank you for the pics, it pretty much confirms my thoughts on the city. I don't understand the desire for Nashville at all but to each their own. My favorite pictures were of your parents farm. Such a beautiful natural landscape Tennessee has. I don't understand the tiny house craze either, at least in urban areas.

GOOGLE: All Day, All Night, All Nice
An update on my experiences with Google Fi Project so far: I have concluded that it's a very viable option (financially) if you use 3 GB or less of data a month. Anything more than that then the family plans from the other carriers are a better deal. That said, especially in light of recent news with the largest carrier in the US, paying a little more per GB for piece of mind might be worth it for you. I was consuming around 2GB a month with Verizon. On Fi I now come in just under 1GB. I think the reduction in data use is a combination of the open trusted Wifi switching and also being conscious that i'm paying directly for everything I use. That might not appeal to you, but if your a minimalist at heart like me then it works. Now the international aspect. This is where I think Fi shines. Upon entering a new country Fi informs you of the charges to expect. For the most part (depending where you like to take yourself) that means the same $10 per GB free SMS and 20cents/min phone. For the two weeks I recently spent in Europe my total was just over $11. That includes a few phone calls and sharing hot-spot data with the GF (free feature with fi). Not bad. Reception was not a problem other than when I was on some far out, small Sicilian island which who cares if you have service at that point :) I had to manually re-search for service a few times but that's something i'm sure will improve over time with fi project. My bill is now $30 month after going down to 1GB. Also the Nexus 5x is a steal for $250. Overall I think fi is pretty fantastic. Hope this write up helps someone.

The things you have to get variances for in downtown and Cleveland in general utterly amaze me.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
Here's hoping the real estate market continues it's hot streak in both Edgewater/Lakewood and the Near West Side (where, yes there currently a major issue with people restricting progress/density) So that at some point local and state government will have no other choice but to give us our damn rail line! edit: And i'm in the belief that calming traffic in any way can only help that cause, right?

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
The E70th portion looks pretty permanent to me. A drop-off zone, dinning area, and sculptures? You dont put that stuff in if you plan on developing the land in the near future. Jobs are good, I like jobs and people wanting to locate these jobs to our city but what I dont understand this mentality that you have to use the whole parcel just for the sake of "filling" all the space. Cleveland is full of this type of development. If you must have a garage, fine but do so using the least amount of land you can and in a way that in the future the remaining land can be eaily utilized. Historically this didnt seem to be an issue. I dont know what it is today, maybe in the present developers just have too much land on their hands and feel compelled to fill it with anything possible.

I like this idea a lot. Way better than the direction I initially thought the new owners would take.

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
2628 Detroit was being demolished for the mixed-used project but the two corner buildings, Linda's and Jamestown building, were to remain.

A Big no to demolishing those buildings and cutting the curb on 28th!

GOOGLE: All Day, All Night, All Nice
I just went on Fi two weeks ago. So far so good. Yesterday was actually the first time I had weak service while inside, no big deal really. Will be in Europe for a few weeks at the end of this month, I will update after that. The seamless data coverage throughout 135 countries was one of the major selling points, so we shall see how well that goes.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
There are rumors of a brewery going into Crops's locations. I doubt they are this adventurous (which is why I think they have done so well over the years) but how cool would it be for a satellite Great Lakes brewery location on the east bank??

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
I didn't realize they were going to widen w45th to the extent that I'm seeing. They are cutting the curb significantly on the Northeast corner of Detroit and 45th (in front of Harp) for the new boulevard "onramp". I really hate this whole project. Besides maybe the bike/running trail and w76th ped tunnel bones we are being thrown.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
If this was in response to my post, I was specifically referring to tree lawn. I don't have much bad to say about the pic you posted here... We can't see if there is tree lawn though. Agree, this development is very boring and sanitized. Personally, I just see a real unique chance to build a urban neighborhood here that can be highly sought after 20+ years down the road. Not with this crap though. This stuff will be old news in 5 years or less.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Question: Is it code to have tree-lawns in this area? I know these are meant to appeal to the suburban mindset but it would be nice to see more urban development in this area. Also more than two stories above 2 car garage would be nice to see. http://www.themiltoncleveland.com/wp-content/themes/strappress-child/images/page-banner.jpg

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Ah-ha. "May's Parkade", built 1964. I thought it was constructed much later than that. I then seriously doubt my earlier statement . I hardy think a company hinged on a declining industry model would be thinking much past automobiles during that time. Sorry for the miss-info! Back to 515!

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
The Fat Fish Blue parking garage was originally built to support an additional structure on top right? Maybe I just made that up, because i don't know when/where I heard that. If true though, I wonder how many additional floors. A tower in that location would directly fill the gap to the right of BP building in ASPhotoman's rendering. Also props on visual, ASPhotoman.

Know any good web hosting serivces??
Another one up for hostmonster. Unless you're trying to run off .Net platform. Last time I checked they didnt have iis as any of their packages and .net is a pain on apache. Everything else is good though. Ulimited domains on virtual server, unlimited emails, sufficient space for most likely anything you will need.

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
^ good find. I was not aware of any of that fallout. There is no excuse for that. And I wish Zanonni would of ate some of his pride and would have been more commited himself to staying anchored in that neighborhood. Lets be real here though, on multiple accounts Santiago has proved to be shady at best. Reading between the lines a little it sounds like Zanonni felt like he was being pushed out. For better or worse many Italians do not like to be told how things are going to work, especially by another ethnic group coming in. Not defending this, i just know how the stubourn "gene" works. Thats all I got. Whats done is done. Thanks for the follow up info.

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
Funny, i was just looking at this building on Clark yesterday while at Popeyes (guilty pleasure). Not a huge loss there considering, but yes it is very sad what has happened to this neighborhood. Letting Zannonie's depart was the dagger to me. Zannonies was THE west side source for necessities to Italians, including my family since moving here. Mazzones is the last of a once great part of our city. I would love, love, love to see Clark and Dennison recover in my lifetime.
