Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Was wondering the same thing. Did some asking around with no luck. Managed to grab a couple bricks from it when they knocked the windows out ealier in the spring for what i assumed was asbestos removal.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I keep hearing people state that it needed more grass. I for one think its has plenty of grass. The northern half is all grass (with the most sun exposure). Personally, I would prefer all pavers but that's me. I think the end result is the best of both worlds, something for everyone. Looks great, job well done and money well spent. Edited with comment from clev.com: "Too much concrete on the south side of the square. Should have made the splash area grass. Otherwise, looks great!!" The idea of wet grass makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
Yes, we do disagree. No worries. I think in the end we want the same outcome, just envision the road to that point differently. Point taken. I'm going to investigate 327's idea. I can stomach this design. Seems pretty ugly but being built the full plot length and to the sidewalk helps. My gripe is more with all the parking. A majority of the land seems to be going parking in the recent Midtown proposals. In my mind there are few excuses for this when you have a right-of-way nationally recolonized BRT line running down its spine.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
Maybe Midtown Inc. can try to do a better job linking up different businesses and smaller projects and combine them to make dense multi-use projects a reality. It makes things more complex and will most take longer but I think its worth it. Its not like this hasent been a waste-land our entire lives (for most of us) anyways. I don't agree that we should try to compete with suburban office parks by emulating them. We should be a city. If a city is how you want to live your life.. then come on over if not then there is plenty of low density options outside city. There is literally only one place to have our city and that's in our city. If not on Euclid Ave, then where?? If not near the important E55 intersection, then where?? I understand this might be the vision of a few, in higher positions but that doesn't make it not flawed.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
Not sure if I like this. Maybe my expectations are too high. I thought the purpose of installing the right of way BRT was to spur high density development, yet we are still getting these low density structures with large swaths of land going to automobile parking. Some will say development is development (which it seems to be achieving to a degree) yet why then the need for the money spent for the transit corridor. I'm fairly certain West-siders would have welcomed such a transit project and used it to its full potential. Just look at all the proposed projects on the near west side that are looking for variances to the code requiring X # of parking spots (often looking to provide zero spots).

In regards to Erie Social Shuffleboard Club proposal: I hate to see another surface lot on this section of 47th. That said I heard there are bigger plans in the works for this and surrounding lots.

Cleveland: Downtown: Leader Building Redevelopment
Was there ever any overall plans released for Leader building re-development other than the possible number of residential units going in (i couldn't find anything)? Specifically will there be any upgrades to the ground level retail? I think an upgrade to Porcelli's and the coffee shop next door, Tabu, would be a fantastic idea. It doesn't have to be anything major either, I don't think. Maybe a little expansion of the square footage, if possible. Also something like the warm weather accordion style sliding glass doors/wall for Tabu. It would be a great place to sit outside and have the morning espresso at. I'm excited for this whole 6th, Short Vincent area. Actually kinda anxious because of all the residential coming on line. I believe all the near-by parcels that have been examples of poor land usage for so many years will quickly become very apparent to everyone. Leader, Garfield building and possibly 515 residential tower, this will become a hot little area and fast.

Cleveland: Cudell / West Boulevard / Edgewater: Development and News
What a huge waste of space. Why does the city continue to let Cleveland to be rebuilt in this fashion.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Maybe we can keep the guitar though :) In all honesty i think the Hard Rock brand has since become very watered down from the mid 90s. I mean I have had a beer at one while waiting for a flight in the Malta airport... There was nothing rock n roll about it.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
This is why not converting the shore way to at-grade and thus freeing up direct access to the land around it (land, for all intensive purposes, no neighborhood could lay claim to) was a huge state/local blunder in my mind. Do that and lay transit down the middle and developers would be eating it up for high-rises. Mind you I'm not sure of the legality and ownership of the bluff land just north of the tracks. It might be state park land. Regardless, east of 54th would have been good to go. Oh well. I hope when the time comes the city seriously considers converting the shore way to at-grade from North Coast transportation Center to the 90 merge.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
There was drilling this morning on the south west corner of Detroit and 45th, across from Max Hayes. Could this be a sign that a bigger plan is in the works?
