You might be the first person in Columbus to refer to the bars on Park Street as "bars with character". I would love it if Brothers and Gaswerks were bulldozed and replaced with businesses that compliment the North Market and continue to create a true Market District. I don't particularly care how tall they are, but 3-4 story mixed-use buildings with ground floor businesses that add to and compliment the North Market would be a huge improvement over what currently makes up most of Park St.

The Wood Co. proposal is so much more than just the tower. The first two stories are additional space for the NM, then there are four stories of office which will add more foot traffic for the Market throughout the week and during work hours. It includes the atrium space which the Market can utilize for a variety of functions, and of course it adds ~30 stories of residential. The tower itself, along with the Park Street hotel project will catalyze denser development of the entire area. Additionally, the inclusion of a two-story pharmacy and sixth floor restaurant space further enhances the impact that this project can have on the neighborhood, and that's not even mentioning the Spruce St. re-design that provides even more space for walkability, farmer's markets, etc. It's a very well thought out proposal. Columbus needs to be bold, and this proposal is bold.

Agreed. I honestly don't feel the need for anything in this proposal to change. Love pretty much every thing about this.

That's good to hear. I was afraid they were going to wait until Hubbard Park Place was done. They've still got Parkside and 711 N. High in the hopper as well.

Agreed. I'd like to see UDF as part of the new build. They'll still own the site, so I'm hoping that's the plan.

I'm usually a fan of bigger builds, especially right on High St. but I like this development. I also like the office portion. Hope this flies through the IVC. That gravel lot and suburban-style UDF can't be gone soon enough.

There's a public meeting about this project at 6:30 on Wednesday at The Joseph. Would be great to have some advocates of dense, urban development there since most of the comments on FB, Dispatch, etc are, as usual, super negative. I'm going to be attending, hope to see some of you guys there as well!
