  1. I think I read somewhere years ago that if expansion happens, it will be in this direction. It would require the relocation of Lane Aviation.
  2. Retail space for lease, major pieces coming together for Continental Centre conversion. The article also mentions the windows won't open. I'm assuming it would have been cost prohibitive to swap out the windows. They are placing state of the art air handlers on the roof to provide fresh air to the units. They hope to add about 400 new residents downtown. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2024/09/05/continental-centre.html
  3. Glad to see it being used again! In the late 1990s I used to eat lunch there everyday back when it was Gibbys.
  4. Once the building gets above the podium section (which can be complicated) and into the repetitive floors of the tower the pace picks up. That's how it worked on the Hilton.
  5. Hilliard-based developer Equity plans mixed-use project in Columbus' South of Main neighborhood. It's a beautiful church, glad to see it will be reused and not torn down. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2024/09/04/equity-south-of-main.html
  6. That project will include a rooftop amenity deck. Probably need to hoist the pool!

1976 looking north on N High from North St. This KFC eventually became Patrick J’s and is now an empty lot looking for a buyer. Note that southbound High is 3 lanes with a dedicated right turn lane.
  8. I suppose something could be built there - it's pretty tight and the roof of a parking garage. The little brick building should stay - it's charming. I've always loved this pocket park, it reminds me of Paley Park in NYC but without a water wall:

^I've been cowering in my basement - have we lost all our historic buildings yet? Can anyone see the sun?
  10. Looks like 1350 has topped out on the west side. Noodles is going to need to adjust their sign location, they’re now invisible to westbound traffic.
  11. That was the basis for a COTA light rail ballot initiative that voters rejected in the 1990s. It included a line to Westerville along the proposed Green Line. It would've been fully operational by now....😢
  12. This is a CMHA project. Here's the missing link you were asking for: https://www.cmhanet.com/ResidentPrograms/ResidentServices
  13. It is huge - but it's a better place for a garage. It could double as a commuter garage once we get light rail. 🤣
  14. I think the Patrick J's site project is dead. The Stark sign has been replaced with a "Borror - Property For Sale" sign.
  15. They could go back to 16 students per suite in the towers like it was in the '80s - double the capacity right there!
  16. Gensler, the design architect of the new John Glenn terminal, is opening an office here in Columbus. Jon Barnes closed his office (JBAD) and joined them. This is very interesting - they feel there's enough work to sustain an office with a reputation for higher end design. We have a few good architectural firms but having an international with a local office could lead to more exiting architecture.

I'm surprised this isn't already in Cleveland's code. This has been a requirement in Columbus' zoning code for years.
  18. Per the article it’s a census tract issue. CMHA can’t build projects that they cannot fund. I guess it’s a federal funding rule? I’d rather see affordable housing built sooner than later, the need is great.
  19. Maybe it'll be 16 stories to take advantage of the newly passed Zone In - this section of High allows 12 with the option to go to 16 with an affordability bonus.
  20. ^That article seems like it was written weeks or months ago - the Olentangy trail is now open through this area. The photo looks to be from last year.
  21. A very small project but one that adds to the quality of life in the neighborhood. Columbus Rec & Parks is building a set of steps from the Dodridge bridge down to the Olentangy bike path. The sandstone is beautiful.
  22. Columbus projects awarded nearly $29M in brownfield remediation grants from state. Hopefully we'll see movement on these projects soon! Most of these were already in design and/or announced. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2024/08/13/brownfield-remediation-sites-columbus.html Projects include: Whittier Peninsula - previously announced three 7 story buildings 45 W. Barthman Ave. on the south side Ohio National Bank building at Town and High The former Department of Job and Family Services building in downtown Columbus at 145 S. Front St. at Town Knights of Columbus and Salesian Boys and Girls Club at State and S. 6th. 800 King Ave. This is new to me: By front, I think they mean along King.
  23. In typical fashion, UO breaks development stories before the rest of the media! 😀
