Columbus: Harrison West / Dennison Place Developments and News
Pablo replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe construction barriers have been cleared away at The Verve. I think it looks great! Looks like it’s starting to wrap up just in time for the fall semester. I noticed the project a couple blocks north at W 8th is in a similar rush. The retail portions might not be ready but they gotta rent those apartments ASAP.

I think that’s iffy. The project hasn’t been approved yet. Until it’s approved, money won’t be spent on final construction documents. That can take 6 months to a year depending on complexity and workload. Bidding and getting the contractor on board can take awhile. I don’t see construction happening until 2024. Of course, I hope it happens faster.

I feel like these new permanent paths are a bypass for the existing trail. The trail will need to be closed during bridge construction.

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
Pablo replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionLooks like the Weber and High project is dead. The lot is for sale. This is an older rendering but as I recall, a 5 story with reduced parking was approved by the Clintonville Area Commission. Hopefully something good happens here.

From the renderings, there appears to be a connector to the casino.

Maybe if they said it was directly connected there would be a fire code issue or a gaming law violation?

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
I think the floor-to-floor height is too low for anything other than housing or a hotel. Retrofitting for any other use might be too costly or just logistically impossible. The plan calls for tons of new dorms to take the towers' place. OSU owns the block south of W 11th - the master plan calls for new dorms there and on the law school sight. The MP also removes the 4 story dorms that were left over in the north dorm project. The St. John site also has dorms on Lane Ave. I think they have housing covered.

Metro Columbus: Road & Highway News
I read the article as speculation about a connector. The 161 widening is happening mainly because of Intel and other industries coming to the area. I guess my point is that widening roads does not in the long run reduce traffic, it increases traffic. We’re building roads to deal with a few hours of “heavy” traffic. I bought up the example of 71 which moves so much more traffic than these roads ever will.

Metro Columbus: Road & Highway News
I'm making the case that there needs to me more intermediary streets to give motorists more options. 161 can be widened ad infinitum but there will still be bottlenecks at each interchange.
